Oh, my goodness! How wonderful to see how a real nursery works. Our local 'garden centres' are really sloppy & lazy. They buy thousands & thousands of plants from Holland not hardened off, put them outside in March..... They 😊don't look after them, let them deteriorate & die ~ then sell off the empty pots to recoup some of their losses. So glad to have found you. Will be buying some plants from you on line in the next few days.
Really interesting tour! Thank you! So why are they moved to the ground to await potting up? I’m just curious- is it a technical reason or just use of space?
Really interesting tour of the nursery. I have had problems with my bulbs being eaten, for the first time this year. I have never experienced pests before. I haven't a clue how to combat this. Tulips, crocus and hyacinth have been worse affected. I have now moved what pots I can under my cold frames in an effort to protect them.May I ask what compost you use at all stages of propogation please? Thank you for sharing Rosy. Happy gardening 😃
We use peat free jiffy propagation mix or fertile fibre for the cuttings and seeds. The main potting medium is Melcourt silver fibre with added slow release fertiliser.

They are taken off a heated bench onto the unheated ground as a part hardening off. Also helps space wise.

After you prick out a tray do you separate the top dressing grit from the remaining soil and reuse?

We have a nursery cat 🐈 but she prefers rabbits.
Yes terriers are great but that requires someone to be at home all the time and we are not.
