Honestly I actually kinda like tangle and whisper as individual characters but the moment it when they trying to make them gay. Feels forced and just doesn’t feel right especially when other characters are not in relationships. But if the IDW comics keep going down this route I don’t see it lasting too long. Twitter it’s just bare corn of the two whenever they pop up on my timeline.
To be honest, it's the repeat of Sally x Nicole that Archie Sonic (Post-SGW) had when they had been established as friends (Pre-SGW), not lovers. Flynn tried to make them as lovers BY FORCE.
Thank you for pointing out that the Comic Screwed itself over with MV because what else is worse than that??? Literally the stakes can't ever go higher than that mess
1:06:44 I'd argue that Flynn wants more of SatAM Sonic to replace the games version of Sonic rather than him 'sticking close to the games', because most of Sonic's attitude and the other characters characterization that isn't the OCs are not 100 per cent what the games versions of them would do. I.E. Sonic constantly letting Eggman go in IDW Comics, when in the games, he has constantly attacked and kicked Eggman while he was down. Sonic Adventure 2 being the exception to the rule. EDIT: I would like to let you guys know that Forces didn't poof Tails out of existance, and the other characters didn't twiddle their thumbs like your friends seem to think. Tails kept on going with Classic Sonic to eventually meet up with the Resistance, then gave the Rookie a pep talk at the end to get the Rookie to stop the Sun from collapsing. Silver was the reason why the Rookie even has the Phantom Ruby prototype to begin with.
SatAM Sonic never believed that Robotnik would turn good either. Never crossed his mind. Flynn doesn't respect SatAM, either. Flynn only respects himself and his wife.
I'm of mixed emotion about IDW. I like it but not enough to follow it regularly. I often forget it exists until other people mention it on discord. I have broad complaints. Biggest of which is how there is zero world building. Characters exist in a "place" but they have no connection to anything and most anyone around them. It is especially harsh on the "OCs" . Who are their families, who are they willing to die for? And no it can't be "everyone/the world". This issue also applies to the game characters. I like them having family back in Archie. Metal Virus is the best and worst thing about IDW. It was an awesome arc imo barring some issues, like Sonic's raging stupidity and the fact that it was like the first real arc. Comic blew its load way too early and really....it will never top that. Maybe it doesn't have to and I might be biased as I enjoy zombie media almost wholesale as a concept, but that was a maximum threat level they won't be able to top I don't think. And that is unfortunate. I want more bad guys. I admit that I liked Starline. His biggest flaw was that Eggman didn't recognize him which makes his end amazingly pathetic. But there was some warning with Zavok telling Starline that teamwork makes the dream work, Starline rejecting that logic ends with his death. But yes, ultimately bad writing because that was a waste of time. I don't feel that way because I read the comic all in one go, so I wasn't waiting and wondering. Give this comic a Naugus or Iron Queen or something. A bad guy that would actually get Eggman's attention and put him on the backfoot. Maybe even some HUMANS. like G.U.N. Humans can be good, evil, neutral. But yeah Naugus magic vs Eggman Tech could be interesting. Zavok alone, I think, is a good character. Its the rest of the deadly six that suck and drag down his potential. Sticking close to the games isn't really helping....a lot of things about the games suuuuuuck writing wise. The random af thing with Whisper and Shadow never feeling truly resolved bothered me for months, to the point that I started shipping them in retaliation. But not Whisper x IDW Shadow because he is trash. Any other interpretation of Shadow feels better.
Yeah when you have fans who actually care about the characters, stories and how you know how they are and act. Don't let Ian stop you from making your something you care about.
There was supposed to be a Tangle and Whisper 2 mini-series. However it was cancelled, not sure who cancelled it. IDW or Evan Stanley, but Evan didn't like the direction Tangle's character was going to go in that cancelled arc. As apparently Tangle would've done some gross emotional manipulating stuff towards Whisper. Guess you love Vegeta-Shadow.
Also replacing the Freedom fighters. Will never happen, , ,why? Is cause the people who watched the cartoon and read the comics. You know how they really are. I also want to go on a side tangent, I have ideas for my own stories, I have this pokemon story, Mystery dungeon and I have characters who are leaders. I also plan to make them and the world more vast. Now it was gonna be a comic, but things happened and so I was thinking I would put it as a story, and then as a comic. . .What am I saying here that relates to what's being talked about? It's cause giving how much something like this screws over basic lines in keeping things connected, to having ideas and characters. Leave somethings out, as it wouldnt help unless you built it up. Theres a build up and a pay off, but also the middle bit. There needs to be layers and such, like Shrek says, onions have layers. This also applies to characters, and in IDW's case, , ,at this point, it's just Ian's Other M story attempting, with Stanly's sort of style too, , ,now I am not familiar with Stanly's stories so please don't assume i'm doing it to be a jerk. I'm just saying what I feel and what I know.

It's like IDW bought a bunch of Sonic adoptables and they are going to find a way to cram them in no matter what.

No it's not forced, it's very natural
Tangle and whisper's relationship feels like lesbian pandering and fetishization

Unless they decided to take a risk and do something like have a arc leading up to hyper sonic, I don't see them topping the MV
I feel like every comic is just using queer baiting on characters that feel like force.
