I am ashamed that there are students and/or faculty at The University of Texas who look for problems when there is no intent for or existence of an actual problem. The fact of the matter is that if anyone delves far enough back into history, I guarantee that without a doubt, they will find something in that history that offends them. People are not now nor have they ever been perfect creatures. And we cannot rewrite history just because we disagree with it or don't like it. Some day future generations may think we of this generation were barbarians because we ate animal meat. As a University of Texas alumnus, I strongly suggest people focus on what the song means today and not what it MAY have meant back in history. People who look for problems when there really is no problem are nothing but rabble rousers. There absolutely is no racist intent whatsoever in a song that has been beloved by many, many people with a connection to The University of Texas at Austin!!!
And I might also add, that the overall goal and focus of people should not be to find something that may divide us; but focus instead on those things that unite us!!!! My generation sought to have peace and harmony among all people. That is where this present generation needs to be also.
If band members,football players,students don't like " The Eyes of Texas" they can give up their scholarships and go to another school. There are alot of liberal schools in California,Oregon,Washington and New York that would welcome them. Just go yo another university

Fear not he who can only destroy body but not soul. Fear Him who can destroy both body and soul in hell. Fear is the beginning of knowledge and wisdom. Every breath you take, every beat of your heart, is because God willed it so. He breathed and all creation was made from Him. He loves us more than anything else and made man (Adam) and Eve (woman) in His image. God is holy and there is no sin in Him. Sin immediately separates us from God. God gave humanity a measure of free will. Also a measure of faith. God in fact made some who never would have faith at all. He knows who, we don’t. I did not believe Jesus Christ was who they said He was until 7 years ago. Before that I mostly thought Christians were insane. And I am also Jewish. But I searched for God for many years and finally found Him in a most unexpected way. Adam & Eve had children. The first two sons were Cain & Abel. Cain killed Abel out of jealousy and God gave Eve a replacement, Seth. Two lineages were drawn. The line of Cain was wicked and evil. The line of Seth was righteous and holy...but...men from Seth’s lineage began to mix with women from Cain’s lineage... This meant Seth’s lineage departed from God and His ways (which are holy) and became mixed with Cain’s lineage (unholy). The result was generations that were beyond lost before a Holy God. So yes God sent a deluge to fill the surface of the earth. Almost all mankind and most creatures perished. Less Noah and 7 others. Noah and His family were kept holy and thus chosen. God set His rainbow 🌈 as an everlasting covenant with mankind through Noah that He would never again flood the earth as it was. God is God. We are not.
