I have been doing intermittent fasting as well. I do 17:7, because it's what works for me...eating 12 to 7. I also found that I crave less sugar when I'm consistent with my intermittent fasting.
I do, too . . . 12:12. Why this window: fasting can make things worse for people with acid reflux, so starting with a smaller window + keeping a jug of chamomile tea (better than water for reflux) to sip on at night was the way to go . . . 12 worked, so I was happy. Congratulations on the weight loss maintenance. You're doing great!
I too am doing intermittent fasting but it is too early yet to see any results. You have given me encouragement to stick with it and see how well it can work for me! Thanks Renee!
My doctor put me on intermittent fasting on June 22. As of this morning (November 6), I have lost 41.5 pounds. My goal is to lose 90. I believe it can be done. 16/8, no sugar, nothing white, no alcohol, nothing fried, no fast food. Difficult? Not really. Does it take discipline? Yes. I feel better. I look better. I’m 74. I should have lived like this my entire adult life.
@ As of now I have lost 72 pounds. Only 18 pounds to go. I have 7 1/2 months to do it. Intermittent fasting has become a very good lifestyle. My doctor has taken me off my BP meds!
Started IF 1 year ago. Started with 12 hrs. I eat what I want , but in moderation ( healthy). Went from a 12 to a size 8. I don't drink, or very rarely eat sweets. Last 6 mos I turned it up to 18 hrs IF.. I'm now a Petite Small from a size 8 to a 4 When you do 18hrs, (apathagy) the body heals itself, great benefit for organs, heart, kidneys and cells. I went clothes shopping yesterday and I bought a pencil skirt, little boots, 3 tops and they fit great in a PS. I have tons of energy, walk 4 times a week and run 2 miles at night on my treadmill 3 x week. My skin looks great. My body looks fantastic. I started with weights a month ago to tone. I'm going to rock 70 next year, and I look 50!! It's IF for life now. On no meds and complete physical a month ago was prestine. I encouraged my doctor so much she's going to start doing IF!😊💕🏃♀️⛳🏌♀️
I started your diet when you first posted 5 months ago. I am 65 years old and NOTHING has worked for me in the last 10 years. I have officially lost 15 pounds as of today! It’s absolutely crazy!!!! No more bloating is huge for me. Thank you so much. It’s a life style change for me too.❤️
@@cindyeastbourn7642 I don’t count my carbs. I’ve just cut way back and have a minimal amount. I am also gluten intolerant so it makes it easier to not eat bread, etc because I feel so much better. Not sure how much water I drink but a lot. I’m always thirsty!
My husband and I started intermittent fasting 5 years ago when we we turned 57 and we love it. He lost 35 pounds and I lost 17 pounds and have never gained it back. We feel great, sleep better, have more energy, less inflammation and joint aches, and my husband’s cholesterol went way down. It’s a lifestyle for us and we will continue this forever. The one thing I would add for anyone starting is to always break your fast with a protein meal…Greek yogurt, eggs, fish, meat incorporated. We also eat a lot more seeds, nuts and good fats like avocado and olive oil.
That's fantastic!!!! I'm hoping to make that same statement 4.5 years from now!! I just feel so much better by eating this way....I don't want to go back. I am an avocado freak and will put it on anything! My granola has pumpkin seeds in it and I enjoy adding pecans. Nuts are wonderful and I enjoy the crunch!
I hear you, sister. Loud & clear, you have articulated my realisations. I started the IF 16/8 only 3 weeks ago, & my body is loving it. I would love to be able to eat this way as a lifestyle. I'm actually enjoying adhering to it. May GOD Bless the people who discovered this eating system. So glad I came across the "IF 16/8 Eating System". Praise the Lord Jesus Christ. *Month 3 Update: . I drink my coffee with full cream milk & no sugar just after my 1st meal during my Eating Window. . I drink hot water during my Fasting Window. . lost @ 9kg so far. . varying between 16/8 ... 20/4 . my stomach loves it, my body loves it, I love it.
I started IF about a week ago, and I have lost 3 pounds. I also incorporated 30 mins of basic home exercises 5-6 times in the week every day. I’m excited to see where I end up!
In cancer recovery - IF for 5 months now. I fast generally 20 hours and eat in a 4 hour window. Key for me is mixing it up otherwise I hit a plateau. I have black coffee or tea while fasting and add cream and Erythritol during my eating window. Thanks for the tips. 💜
i am 15 years old female and i was 72kg when i was 14 y/o. i was very anxious about my body and i have really low confidence. I literally tried many diet and workout routines but nothing really helped and i started to gain weight even more. at the time it was april 2023 i started to know about intermittent fasting. My target was to reach 67 in 1 and a half month. it was firstly really hard to resist my hunger but after some days i got used to it. after 1 and half months after checking my weight , guess what i was 67!! that was the sign that i was finally convinced that i have choose a correct diet for me. now its like more than 2 months have passed and i am now 61kg. 😊
Congratulations Renee, what an amazing example of you have set for so many people to improve their health in so many ways. I started intermittent fasting after receiving a life-threatening diagnosis and needed to find a way to give my body the best chance for recovery. While I haven’t been seriously strict about the carbohydrates I have lowered them and I have cut out all refined sugar. I also do the 8-16 schedule and I have lost approximately 15 pounds which has brought me down to my ideal weight. I didn’t increase exercise or make any other changes other than cutting out all processed foods, not that I ate too many previously mind you. I cook everything from scratch and make my own condiments. They sneak all kinds of nasty chemical ingredients and sugar into 90% of our food. It would be fair to say that I I’ve definitely taken things to the next level but that was only because of the health issue I was facing. Having said that I do believe it is the Natural next step because once you start looking into these things you find out more than you could ever imagine about our food industry. Thanks again for sharing Renee and especially giving the recommendations to help with the challenges on this path. I’m so happy it’s working out so well for you and your family. You look amazing.
So happy for you. I've lost 67 pounds and 33 more pounds to go from intermittent fasting. It is now become a eating healthier lifestyle. Love it ❤️ I would suggest intermittent fasting to anyone who wants to lose weight and to start a eating healthier lifestyle change.
I am 73 yrs old, and started intermittent fasting a year ago. This changed my life. My weight is where I want to be. I eat breakfast at 8;30am and enjoy it. I usually have to remember to eat again before 2pm. I do not worry about carbs, I am careful to eat protein. I feel great physically and have energy.
I am a strong believer in intermittent fasting. I've been doing it for 5 years (started at age 52, I'm now 57 y/o). I lost 50 pounds in the first three years, and have maintained my weight for the last two. Intermittent fasting, for me, is so easy, because it means you don't have to diet, and can eat whatever you want, as long as it's in moderation. I have never counted net carbs, and just do the intermittent fasting (16:8). I'm also a vegetarian. I will do this from now on, because it works. It's not an overnight weight loss (quick weight loss), but it is a lasting weight loss. When people ask me how I lost the weight, I tell them how I did it, but also strongly advise that they discuss intermittent fasting with their doctor first, and not go by what I say alone. Congratulations on your weight loss; you look wonderful! The beauty of intermittent fasting is that there are so many ways you can do it, and can easily adapt it to your lifestyle and dietary needs. It's the best concept I've ever come across.
My husband & I do keto and IF 16:8 and it is awesome yes. Brain fog is gone, bloating gone, migraines and aches & pains to a minimum. Heck yeah! Thank you for sharing. You are helping many.
I've been intermittent fasting for 2 weeks. 16-8. The first week I felt kinda weak but now I'm totally adjusted and feel great! It works great for me because I'm a terrible night snacker! I stop eating at 5:30 so there's no telling how many less calories I'm taking in just by doing that! Love it! I lost 5.5 lbs the first week. I weigh again tomorrow. We shall see!🤗
@@rockNstyle27 I'm trying to eat healthier like cutting back on sweets and junk food. And portion control. I'm not too strict though. I've lost 25 lbs so far. Just eating normal food sensibly. I don't do keto or anything because I can't eat that way forever.
Tomorrow makes 1 week for me, and I already feel better. Today, I did feel extra tired, but I can tell I've lost a few pounds in my clothes. So glad I found this channel.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with IF and low carb eating. Very informative and has encouraged me to continue with this lifestyle change. I started Dec 28/22. Good luck to all scrolling down and contemplating this wonderful gift for your body ❤
I have used 16:8 IF for about 3 years. I have my morning coffee with cream and do not crave food until 11 a.m. One thing I have everyday is one tablespoon of ground flaxseed ... start with smaller amounts at first so your body can adjust. It has helped my digestion so much! Intermittent fasting also allows your body more time to heal since it's not digesting food all the time. Love your videos, Renee.
avoid PUFA, and flax is pufa which is poison to our bodies and cause diabetes. sometimes they use linseed as flax which is even worse, its a solvent, a poison and should not be eaten.
Congratulations 🎉👏, I have been doing IF since last March and can attest to the wonderful benefits it provides. Knowledge is power and I want to thank you for sharing this video. You have such a gift for explaining concepts. Thank you for using that gift to enrich the lives of people. Continued success!! I do anywhere from 18-22 hours have done about 3, 24 hour fasts and one 26 hour fast, which was accidental but realized I didn't suffer from it. Learning to feel true hunger, and having my appetite reduce naturally has been wonderful. I would like to drop another 20 pounds and feel it will happen. Have dropped inches, brain fog, feel better. 🙏❤️💪
yes! Yes! Yes! I also do IF (started at 16:8, but now I mainly do 18:6 though I sometimes accidentally slip into OMD-One meal a day because I am just not hungry) It so nice not to be snack and food driven anymore. The holidays really taught me that the IF lifestyle matches my body best, because I will tell you, with guests in the house and all the weird eating times I really felt it and have regrets. I did strict keto at some pointes in the past, but I found my over 50 body doesn't do well with strict anything hahahah. Just keep an eye on the carbs, give yourself a treat here and there, and eat in the window. I never wake up hungry.
@@Talania12 totally! I drink unsweetened tea (no artificial sweeteners either) black coffee and water. Easy peasy. But a warning: it's really easy to slip into OMAD because the window is so short, so be aware. It becomes really hard to eat enough because the hunger just isn't there. I do sometimes get a little hungry later usually (outside of my window) which can become a problem. (I was not getting enough calories because I don't like to eat outside of my window) So now, I try to mix it up an be little flexible with 18:6, OMAD and 16:8 because I was feeling a little underfed hahahah. But I am not going back to "normal" all day grazing style eating!
Dear. Curly, u are the FIRST person who helped me the most as I always do a lotta recherché on EVERYTHING!!! Thank u. It took me awhile to get to earning better during my eating window. Now I’ve been diligent. SOMTIMES I busy and all of a sudden it’s 7pm and did not eat so Ijust don’t eat til the next day at 11am. Thank you. Thank you. Thank u. It’s 2 yrs since my partner DUED and finally getting my self and life back. Thank u
I started intermittent fasting 3 months ago with 16:8, and now I do OMAD (23:1), with my coffee and heavy cream at noon and my dinner at 6 or so. I also watch my carbs like you do. I'm down 30 pounds in 3 months, and I really prefer this lifestyle. I never feel so hungry that I NEED to eat, which is great. It has simplified things for me. I have more energy and have zero of the stomach problems I used to have. I'll never go back.
I've been intermittent fasting for 6 months and it has changed my life! Before, I was always bloated with stomach pain. I eat 11am-7pm: 2 main meals with a snack in between. I've kept that extra 10 pounds off the last 6 months and I'll probably always do IF. I used to crave snacks and not be able to say no, but now it feels like I'm in control of my eating habits. For me, I can't cut certain ingredients out of my life, it just doesn't work long term. I usually cheat 1-2 days a week and I bounce right back when I start fasting again. My main motivation was watching a TED Talk about how chronic inflammation leads to dementia and insulin inflames your body. When you fast for 16 hours, it gives you a chance to use up all that insulin and not be inflamed all the time. For anyone who says, "But I can't give up my morning coffee!" I promise, not having your coffee is worth living a more healthy life. Good luck on your fasting journey!
I am so happy to see this video. Just 2 days ago I started a plan very similar to yours fasting, net carbs counting and Pilates. This is a sign I’m on the RIGHT TRACK! 🎉
One year ago in May I went Keto. I eat 20 carbs or less every day. I also fast.......I have lost 60 lbs. I NEVER gave up my coffee with heavy cream. You can have my sugar, pasta, bread, and potatoes, but I refuse to give up my coffee and cream. I think each of us has to pick our own battles. At 62, I just don't eat the same amount of food that I did when I was younger. You look amazing and I love your silver curls!!! I just started my going gray journey!!
I am so grateful you shared your experience. I have been struggling for 2 years to lose some extra weight. Trying IF-I am at my wits end and am desperately trying to find something that will work! It’s like I turned 46 and my body went crazy. Please make more videos on this! Congratulations on meeting your goal. Truly inspiring.
Thank you for explaining how intermittent fasting works. Very simple and really pretty easy. The reason you don't get hungry is because you don't eat a lot of carbs. Carbohydrates will make you want to eat. You stay satisfied because you are eating right. The more carbs you eat the more you will be in the kitchen looking for something else to eat. You have found something that works for you. Yea! thats key. Drinking the water is very important for weight loss. I'am very happy for you. I have had a weight problem most of my adult life. Iam now 70 yrs old and still struggling. You have encouraged me to try this and I so thank you. I hate being FAT!!
You are so correct! And I wish I had said that in my video!!! The more carbs I eat...the more I want. It's a vicious cycle! If I eat less....then I want less. It's so true. My body is the happiest and I feel my best when I eat around 30-50 net carbs daily. Anything more than 50 then I do find myself "wanting" more carbs. If you're just getting started....commit yourself to changes for 30 days. It's tough! I was hungry for the first several days and I missed my coffee!!! But tell yourself that you are ok....you aren't going to starve to death....and the coffee only makes you happy for a short moment. Stand your ground....and you will get through it. And after 30 days....you will see progress and feel so much better. That's the motivation you need to stick to your plan. And my weight didn't come off quickly! I lost 4 pounds in the first week....but it took 3 more weeks to see any progress. Then it started dropping quickly. That's why I say give yourself 30 days. You can do it!!
@@WelcomeToMyCurls The reason you want more carbs if you eat carbs is that it causes your insulin to spike--can even make you feel tired when this happens and then you can get hungry again once the insulin drops. It is a never-ending cycle if you are a carb snacker. Protein and good fats like olive oil, and butter do not cause insulin spikes.
@@WelcomeToMyCurls You said that if you eat more than 50 carbs a day you wanted more. That is very interesting and very good information to know. I will keep that in mind because I started my new life change today.
I am 75. You can do this! Be determined and set your mind to it. I was able to toss BP meds in one month after 20 years on BPMeds! Lost 24 lbs in 6 months. Still working on insulin resistance/Type2 reversal -but it’s greatly improved. 👍👍👍After 2 weeks (maybe sooner) you will lose cravings. Just be sure you drink some electrolytes to keep well balanced chemicals. I am never even hungry and sometimes have to force myself to even eat. I was definitely sugar addicted as most in America are. Good luck!🍀 You got this!
So happy that you’re talking about the IF way of life. It is truly a game changer for me, I started IF over 2 years ago to help with my Crohn’s disease. It works wonders on inflammation and helps to alleviate stress on my digestive tract. It also has helped me lose about 45 pounds. Mostly, I do OMAD (one meal a day), but sometimes I will do a 20-4 day. When I go off and make exceptions, I find I will end up paying for it afterwards with a lot of pain and swelling, so it’s just not worth it. I do take Ancestral supplements (love these supplements!) and make sure I get enough healthy foods in my eating window, which is important. I have a terrible time with side effects from the Crohn’s medications (which basically destroy your immune system) and are all pretty bad, and since I’ve been doing IF I have not had to go back on them, very thankful for that 😊
Your hair is so beautiful! I’m 41 and have started getting grey/white hairs and I’m embracing it and can’t wait to be full on grey. I don’t see many people with curly hair with grey hair so I’m so excited for my future hair😂.
I found your channel a few months ago and you inspired me to start intermittent fasting. I began a 16:8 IF schedule 2 months ago (along with high fat low carb) and have lost about 8 pounds. I still have another 8-10 lbs to go to hit my goal weight. I always thought it would be so hard to IF but in reality I feel so much better that I don’t think I will ever not eat like this. My horrible bloating is GONE, my swollen, painful joints are essentially GONE, and my energy level is so much better! Thank you for the inspiration and for such a wonderful and positive channel! ❤
Renee, I use heavy cream because it has NO sugar. Look at half-n-half it has often got a gram or two of sugar due to the milk component. I get up at 5:30AM and I do not hesitate to use heavy cream in my coffee. The key is NOT to eat unless you are really hungry regardless of when you eat. I lost 35 lbs very slowly and I have learned to love black iced coffee as a treat. I love iced coffee, especially in the summer. I try to stay at about 20-30 carbs. My eating window is 6AM to 2 PM since I am semi-retired and walk dogs in the morning. I am also a single person. My waistline has returned and I am very happy too. When fasting you are also not stimulating insulin to be produced and allowing your body to rest. I am a former nurse--this can also reverse type 2 diabetes and has in my patients.
Intermittent fasting is working for me. I also do 16/8. I was always snacking before and was totally addicted to sugar. I am coming up on 1 month and have lost 16 pounds. I feel great. I not hungry and my stomach bloat is gone. Congratulations on your journey. I hope in 5 months I will feel even better. And plan to continue the fasting.
Congratulations. You look fabulous. I have been intermittent fasting for four years. It has healed my type 2 diabetes and many of menopausal symptoms like hot flashes….gone! I highly recommend this lifestyle. Congratulations again!
I've just started about a week ago. This, after doing no (or very low) carbs for the past month. My maximum weight was 272. I'm 69 years old, 6'2". This morning my weight is at 256. I've started IF and am doing 18:6. I don't eat until noon, and I'm not terribly hungry when I do eat. I do walk almost 2 miles in the morning before I eat. I would like the weight loss to continue, and that is why I started the intermittent fasting. I've noticed through watching some of these videos, the reason I am not hungry is because I am probably in ketosis. My goal is to lose another 40 pounds or so. I am going to try to cut back on the amount of food I am eating... I have been eating a rather large amount for the fear of getting hungry, but the two times I eat (about noon & then 6pm) I have no feeling of hunger at all. By the way, I've always had ½ & ½ in my coffee in the morning and had been drinking it black when I started, but for the past two days I started putting the cream back in. It was encouraging to hear you report that the ½ & ½ doesn't break one's fast. Thank you for taking the time to make this video.
I'm hypothyroid so i have to work harder & smarter about foods. I've been drinking a gallon of water everyday, i loaded a water tracker so i could keep track. I already feel so much betteer, I'm intermittent fasting, exercising, my focus is so much clearer. Intermittent fasting has so many benefits to it. I was a real sugar addict, but i've now detoxed from any kind of sugar. Mind motivation is important too. Tell yourself your body is burning fat, you're getting healthier, being consistent is key to breaking bad habits to building good habits.❤
Girl, you have given me the motivation that I needed! I’m starting tomorrow! I live in NC but I’m from WV, right on the KY border so I already feel related to you haha! So I know if my sister can do it, I can too! Thank you so much for putting out these videos, it’s so hard to know what to do when you get over 50. But this plan just makes so much sense and you simplified it enough for me to follow. I’m excited now to start and get my health back on track. I have about 60 lbs to lose …it won’t be easy but I’m determined to conquer!!! 💖
Oh Rene, I’m so glad you have given up WW which SO doesn’t work, and went with IF and watching your carbs. Last video of yours I watched was when you first started WW, I expressed my concern at that time. I’m almost 65, I’ve been living this way for 5 years now. I’m down 70 pounds, which is great, but more importantly I’m aging backwards and am more fit and have more energy than I ever did at 40. Watch those net carbs on packaged foods hon, it’s a bit of a food manufacturer trap. If you find yourself stalling, or not feeling well, try switching to total on packaged food only. Net carbs on broccoli is ok. Broccoli won’t lie.
Your hair is so beautiful. Thank you for the video. Been thinking about trying this way of eating and it’s nice to hear from people who have enjoyed it.
Thank you! I’m so happy to hear about your great results. I’m going to start tomorrow. I’m frustrated because I’ve always been fairly slender but since I hit menopause, I’ve gained weight in my stomach area and it drives me crazy. I’m going to try this for sure!
Hi! Were you able to start IF, and how's it going for you? I just finished my 14th day. The scale hasn't budged, so I'm wondering how long it's going to take??? I'm doing 16:8. PS--I watched you early on in your silver transition! I'm dye free since Dec 2018!
12 pounds in 12 weeks thanks for setting that expectation. I lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks and that felt not so much. But your experience gives me hope. This time i will keep up with the IF along with Carb counting. 🙏🏼
So glad you have had so much success and do not have a sugar addiction. It is not quite as easy for others, especially those of us who are making "healthy lifestyle turnarounds". After months, there are still challenges. Determined, I continue...but it is not quite as smooth as I'd hoped.
I just finished watching your video 2 times! I've struggled for the last few years trying to lose the 17# I've gained. I feel terrible and am discouraged so I was very happy to hear about your success and read some of your viewer comments. Coffee in the morning with my flavored creamer is going to be a biggie for me, but I am telling my you can do it for 30 days too! I look forward to watching more of your videos to keep me going! Thank-you!
My IF window is 18:6. My first meal is 11:00 a.m. and my final meal is at 4:30 p.m. My carb limit is around 20 a day. I've lost five pounds from March 1 to March 20 without trying--less than one month. I have bullet-proof coffee in the morning around 8:00 with heavy whipping cream, butter, and a sugar substitute. I go to a gym to walk 6,000 steps four times a week, and walking the dog and walking around the house adds another 4,000 steps for a total of 10,000 steps a day. I go to another gym three times a week to lift weights for my arms, back, chest, and legs.
Hi Renee, I found Dr. Mindy July 2023 and she completely made sense. I started fasting on July 6th and have lost 31 pounds since. I went from a size 14 to an 8 and feel so much better. I LOVE how our bodies can heal themselves through fasting. I fast 17-20 hours a day. My biggest challenge is trying to fit in 2 meals within my eating window.
I have been doing intermittent fasting for years I lost 20lbs and never put the weight back on. I eat everything, but I do portion control. Whatever the package says a serving is that is how I eat. Just found your channel and love it.
I got the app that you suggested for intermittent fasting. This is day 2 for me. I’m doing the 14/10 to start. The hardest part is not having my coffee first thing in the morning. I don’t drink black coffee. Hopefully I’ll adjust in a week. Thank you very much for your very good and informative videos. I really like them.
We must have started this lifestyle about the same time. I started because of health issues-insulin resistance, weakness, and high blood pressure. 😞😞 I started July 20th 2022. I am 75 years old and 5’ 5” started at 142 lbs. I now weigh 118-120. I was able to toss BP meds after only one month after 20 years on meds. 😮 I lost an average 1 1/4 lb a week. Glad for maintenance pointers. 👍👍👍 Thank you. I think the maintenance phase is kind of scary to go into -I still feel I need to fight the insulin resistance --but not lose more weight. 🙃🙃🙃
Congratulations! I've been on maintenance for 12 months now and it's tricky at times. As I've incorporated a few carbs here and there, I weigh myself daily, and it's so easy to put it in just overnight. If that happens I then do strict Keto for a few days and my weight goes back to my starting point. I'm vigilant constantly. I don't want to go back to my old bad habits and obese self. I'm also very active. Linedancing, jazz ballet and walking. Some exercise is important for toning our muscles and overall health
Great to hear. I’m hoping to get off my meds too. My fasting blood glucose has gone down from 107 to 87 in the past 6 weeks. (It goes up if I have a bad night - insomnia issues are not yet resolved).
Awesome Renee you look fab . I’ve been doing” I F.” for over 2 years with my husband . we both love it I lost over 50 pds and he lost 20 pds we both are at goal and is maintaining perfectly . We eat 2 times a day . our first meal is around 1 pm then we have dinner around 5 . We are snackers. But it’s working for us I’m also doing keto . 🌻🌻🌻
You look amazing! I've done IF for several years. I've done the 16/8, 18/6 & once a week did the 24. It's exactly as you stated. You don't get hungry & feel so much better. I've only recently cut my carbs to around 30 a day. I've lost 20 lbs. I still want to lose more. Did I mention that I'm also type 2 diabetic? My A1C has really lowered as well. Thanks for sharing everything on your channel.
Love your video… I started going low carb and lost a lot the first week and now I am on week 3 and barely losing any weight even though I am doing well . Your video was encouraging not to give up just because your are not seeing any results.
If you’re feeling good/better than you were before, that’s a good indication you’re still on the right track. I wish you continued success towards your goal but just feeling good because you’re consciously making the best choices you know for your health and well-being is success, too. Love and Light! 💓
I'm three months in. 54 years young. Started due to blood test showing fatty liver and high cholesterol. 18:6 was a natural adaptation. But I went OMAD eventually. I lost so much weight that I started going back and forth between OMAD and 2MAD to slow my weight loss down. Still figuring things out, but after experiencing the long list of benefits, I am committed.
LOOVED the information you provided, I started counting my calories with a counting app (last week) and so far I've lost about 3 full pounds, I cut out coffee as well and it was so hard tbh. I also started my fasting last week and I love it, I try to stick to a 16:8 but with how my work schedule is sometimes its been 15:9, ever since I started this its so much easier for me to get up in the mornings and I don't really feel groggy really anymore. I'm so excited to keep up with my logging and fasting, finally starting to see results after working out for the last 6 months.
Congratulations on your success ! I never realized, until recently, that I have intermittent fasted for probably 30-40 years! It's just a 12 hour fast, but that and watching my portions have kept me around the same weight for years. I've rarely wanted anything to eat after dinner. I've been thinking of extending my fast, so hopefully I can add an hour or two at a time to see how I do!
I've just started this intermittent fasting and what a difference it makes! I am 50 and menopausal, and the extra weight was not coming off with the previous methods I used before menopause. I also had a lot of inflammation and joint pain. Well, that's all gone with the fasting, along with the extra weight. I also feel like my brain works better, and I have more energy. And I'm not hungry all the time, I just am hungry a short time before my eating window starts. I love this! One thing I've learned, even small amounts of sugar cause pain and inflammation. I can eat more carbs as long as the sugar is low. I keep it to 8 grams a day max. Even fruit sugar is a problem for me!
Congratulations! I also do 16:8 and feel so much better. I also cannot do black coffee so need some half and half. However is does have calories so it does technically break the fast and of course you can’t drink cream in coffee if your going in for your fasting labs as it does effect those results.
Good for you! I did IF years ago using the 18-6 system. I did low carb and only a little half and half in my coffee. Gave up most sugar and lost around 12-13 lbs. I am getting back on it bc like you I feel so much better when I ate like this!!!!
Excellent video! I did this for years but never knew it was intermittent fasting 🥰 but I’m back on my weight loss journey again… being very conscientious of what I’m eating.. no meals after 6 pm unless I may have a jello or applesauce or a cup of sauerkraut 🌷. And it better be close to 6 pm. I’ve gone back vegan too… e inimical and just emotional issues had me go back to no meat. It’s ok and the weight is coming off. I’m doing it alone.. friends say they want to change their eating habits but they don’t. I don’t eat out and I only eat meals that I make. Glad I stumbled on your channel!!! Peace and Blessings from your new subbie in Tampa Florida 🌴
Hi Lorena- I am about 95% vegan; wild-caught fish/salmon about 2-3x/mo., and sometimes a small amount (2T or less/day) of creme fraiche or sour cream. My question is can one be vegan/keto? Do you count carbs? If so, how to figure net carbs in fresh fruit & veggies. I also cook organic/clean from scratch. (At one time I did the heavy meat/fat
Just needed this pep talk. I’m doing 16:8 also but after 30 days do not feel I’ve taken off weight. I now know it can be slow. Am motivated to continue because I’ve stopped my biggest downfall - snacking. Thx again.
Great video, Renee. Congratulations on your weight loss. As a type 2 diabetic I have eaten this way for awhile and have lost 100#s, have kept it off, and my A1C is down from 11.1 to 5.9. 😊 Counting total carbs instead of net carbs helped me so much better. AND I’m so glad you realized heavy cream or half and half in coffee will not break your fast!! Love my coffee! Thank you for great meal ideas. You’re an inspiration to so many of us.
I started 8-16 IF 2 months ago, and loosing weight , well actually I don’t eat till Midday and no longer crave coffee or tea,& I was a teaaholic with honey and milk etc.. but no longer, and I feel sooo good, no more bloated stomach , and no longer snack in the evening , no longer as hungry, & it is for me a lifestyle change hopefully forever. Thank you for your tips.
I do a 18:6 or sometimes a 20:4 IF regime along with low carb. I’ve lost 30lb since starting this journey in October 2022. I’ve also lost 25 inches from all over my body. Feel so much better. Better mental clarity and no migraines since I started IF (I used to get them every week and they were debilitating). I love the healthier me! One thing I would say is I did an alternate day fasting challenge whereby you basically fast 36 hours and have a 12 hour eating window. Mentally it wasn’t an issue but I did find I plateaued on the scales. I’m also recovering from foot surgery so haven’t been as active as I usually am…..thus needs to improve now!!
I have completed my first week of IF 16:8, THANKS to your video. I already feel soooo much better and truly am not hungry. BTW….just listened to a medical discussion and learned how IF can strengthen the body’s immune system.
My husband and I started intermittent fasting five months ago. We feel so much better. We've lost over thirty pounds combined. I used to feel bloated pretty much every day. That has cleared up. We intend to keep doing intermittent fasting from now on because our bodies are loving it. We fast from 4 p.m. until 10 a.m.
You have a beautiful complexion. I fast and never take breaks. My body loves fasting. Week one was rough and like you I do I watch carbs and I gave Cokes up and junk food and now I do not want them. Sweets give me diahrrhea. And do not cheat is my life motto!
I started IF 2 weeks ago. I start at 11am and end at 6pm. I didn't know about the carbs but I'll start that tomorrow. I have always consumed my water and I got on the scale this morning and lost 4 lbs. Thanks for sharing, this is easy and I'll keep going.
I started IF on the Monday before Thanksgiving 2022. Initially, my window was 18:6. I stayed on a keto diet -- no sugar, no grains, no starches The 18:6 window lasted 2 days. On the 3rd day I changed to 20:4. Thanksgiving day was my 4th day which had always been a big meal day for me. That was my 1st time doing one meal a day (OMAD). That's 23:1 for me. I stayed with OMAD. In 2.5 months I have lost 44 lbs. I'm a prostate cancer survivor. My PSA is checked every 3 months. It usually goes up at least 1 percentage point each checkup. My PSA was 2.7 the week before I started IF. I had a checkup last week. My oncologist wanted to know what I had been doing, because my PSA had dropped to 1.5. It hasn't been that low for several years. She told me to keep doing what I have been doing.
My most BELOVED fast breaker is 1/3 cup oatmeal, 1 tablespoon Smuckers natural peanut butter (has no additives), 2 tablespoons great value full fat greek yogurt (no additives) and whatever berry fruit I have on hand (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries etc.) - SO FILLING AND SATISFYING as a fast breaker and full of protein! My husband thinks it is disgusting but I adore it and look forward to it every morning.
I’d really love to be your heavy weight! My goal is to get down to 175. I’m 5’3”. I started intermittent fasting 2 days ago and I’m looking forward to my weight loss. I am in treatment for breast cancer and psoriatic arthritis and have to take meds, one for 5 years to prevent the cancer from coming back and one for my thyroid and 2 for the arthritis for the rest of my life. I’m trying to get off meds by controlling what goes in my body. Thank you so much for your video!! You really inspire me.
So happy I found your video today. I have tried low carb and lost some weight. But I was really thinking about a 16:8 eating window. This confirms my thought on this. Great job! Thanks for sharing your progress.
Omg I just saw this and doing intermittent fasting but do not have an organized direction. I love how you have explained everything in simple terms. I have lost finally 5 lbs, and am aiming for 35 more. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience.
You look awesome! I did intermittent fasting and also lost 12 pounds and I've kept it off - haven't watched my carbs recently, but I've been surprised I've maintained my weight through the holidays. I'm currently eating 2 meals a day that contain carbs - Thanks for the encouragement about limiting them, maybe I will lose the last 10 pounds! Congrats again!
Hello, Agree, I lost over 40 lbs since May last year with IF, absolutely love this way of life and won’t ever go back. Thank you for sharing your story, and for giving us tips. Xx
Thank you for your honesty . I am encouraged to try intermittent fasting. I will also watch my carb I think that is my downfall. I will have to up much water intake as well. So, today is the day I begin my journey.
Been doing it for years, in general 18:6. Had a couple of 24 hour ones. I alternate IF days, basically every other day or so. If you do it too often then you body’s metabolism adjusts and IF turns into a calorie restriction - which is not want you want as a permanent lifestyle. Doing it 3-4 times a week is a good balance I think and preps your body to do it more often or for longer if you need to
I just started and I feel great. I have always had trouble controlling my appetite and this really controls it. You look 👀 great! Thanks motivating others.
Ms. R, I am right there with you. Been doing intermittent fasting for a couple of years and for me it is really the only thing that keeps the weight off and the energy up - AND sleeping much better! My window is 9-5. I too love a good cup of coffee (never any kind of sweetener) & now you have given me permission to put in 1/2 & 1/2 before 9 - woohoo! I am never hungry, I don't count carbs but eat them within reason, eat whole foods and 2 squares of Lindt Dark Chocolate with Orange as the last food of the day. LOTS of water too. It's so easy to do because half the time you are asleep. Thanks for sharing all your tips and keep it going girl - you look awesome!
Congratulations!! Cutting those carbs, cut those cravings!! It happened to me too! I shrunk my eating window without knowing it was "a thing"! I also cut sugar & processed foods. I was dropping weight! NO Cravings at All. I was Shocked! Somehow, I ended up on Keto. I do intermittent Never less than 16:4, but I often go 19-20+ hr fast. Your body starts burning more fat After 12hrs. I'm drinking Lots of water & walking more too! I feel good!
Keto and intermittent fasting are a must together! I started with strict keto, and 3 meals per day for the first 2 weeks, to get used to the low carbs and incorporating high fats. Then went to 2 meals per day and IF, 16:8. The most important thing is to follow a strict keto lifestyle for at least 30 days, although I did this for 2 months. Adding healthy fats to the last meal is crucial so to stay fuller and satisfied. One thing you may need to explain is...IF lowers insulin and the body uses our own fat storage for fuel(energy). I had about 30 kgs I wanted to loose( about 65-70 lbs). I reached my target within 9 months! Never felt better and at 61, feel 25 again. I follow Dr Eric Berg and watched all his keto videos for guidance. One thing though, I never eat any Keto packaged foods like you've shown. Just natural food. Anyway, congratulations on your achievements!
Congratulations on your weight loss and thank you so much for the inspiration. I literally started IF just yesterday @ 3:00PM. I felt hunger pangs at around midnight but I ignored them. I had a cup of coffee with milk and 1tsp of sugar at around 9:00AM without realizing that I had broken my fast. Btw thank you for the coffee tip very helpful and the under 50 net carbs. I didn’t eat anything until almost 2:00 pm and closed my window at 4:00pm. I’m going to see how I feel tomorrow. Once again thank you very much for the encouragement. Good luck to you.
My husband & I started IF last Summer. I wanted to heal a few things in my body. He wanted to lose weight. He was willing to do the 20:4 with me. He LOVES breakfast, but agreed that if we kept our eating window from ~4-8 pm, we’d have the flexibility of meeting friends for dinner, etc., so we did that. We worked out for 30 min 4-6x/week. I can honestly say that we did not deprive ourselves of anything. The fast was broken with a fresh fruit smoothie that contained powdered bone broth, greens powder & lots of coconut milk powder. I realized one day after about one month that the bottoms of my feet were soft & smooth as a baby’s bum! Two benefits that are not talked about much are: 1) Best sleep of your LIFE, and 2) Everything tastes WONDERFUL!!! The hardest thing for me was black coffee 🤢but I dealt with it & think that in time I could learn to love the pure flavor of coffee alone. The other thing was tiredness & just feeling “weird” because I have a fast metabolism. We took a magnesium citrate capsule in the morning and put potassium (sodium-free salt alternative) in coffee or water. If I felt wiped out during the day, (esp cuz I’d work in the garden in the sun,) I’d take the Magnesium & potassium again. Many times we went beyond 20 hrs &we were ok. Now, (we’re not doing IF now,) if we have to delay a meal for some reason, who cares??? After fasting 20+ hrs, missing a meal is nothing! It was wonderful to lose the bloated feeling and I feel like the changes in my body are permanent & have remained even when we’re not doing IF. I am 5’7” and weighed 157 when I started & lost 15# in ten wks. I did NOT do IF to lose weight, but what a wonderful bonus! You’ve inspired me to start it again! I stopped when I got C-19 last August.
I thoroughly enjoyed your video. I also do IF and agree it is a lifestyle change that completely works. I feel the difference too. Thank you for sharing your journey. It helps to see & hear others success. I lost 80 lbs. on it, trying to incorporate some excercises now. I also do 16/8. (11 to 7) ideal for me.
Love your video. I started may 24th. At June 19th, I'm down 12 pounds. Alot water weight I'm sure. But definitely feeling better. My appetite is normal too
I have adopted IF for two years, and my body is so used to and liking it. I was not overweight, but I was pre diabetic.I neither was an over eater and junkie for processed food, with a moderate sugar consumption. Since my risk is familial, I though this moderation was enough. So at 66, I went for a long needed check up, and to my surprise I was pre diabetic. I immediately did a research and found a keto diet and IF with two meals a day did the trick of keeping DM away for me. I do not see myself changing my life style. However, I have the occasional misbehaving days, but I know to immediately return to my IF with 50 or less carbs. One surprising side effect is that as long as I stay put (I get reminders on days that I deviate), I no longer experience acid reflux, and I sleep better. Thanks for the encouraging video.
Thank you for your inspiration! I just finished two months wintering in Florida and I feel like a whale from eating so much yummy food. I am determined to start eating properly and losing some of my weight gain when I get home.
Thanks for sharing, looking great! I’ve intermittently fasted for about 4-5 years I’m about to do a 3 day water fast starting in the morning. Hopefully more people are able to learn the benefits from fasting. Gut health, brain health, mental health it goes on and on. A lot of studies say that it can even prevent cancer. And also if one has cancer fasting can help significantly! Good luck to you! And let me throw a couple doctors out there…Jason Fung and Dr. Pradip jamnadas 👍🏽 oh and I’m on 24hr
Thank you for this video!! You have just confirmed the SAME thoughts I had on IF and carb counting!! I have a long story... But to keep it short and simple ; I had Gestational Diabetes with my 7th and 8th baby so I had to go on a low carb high protein diet which contributed to having THE BEST post partem recovery, I felt so good and went straight back to my start weight! After that I lost my taste and smell from Covid which then turned into parosmia (which is an awful taste when eating) so I didn't eat much of anything because I couldn't. Tried IF because I found out that it was possible to help get your senses back. In that time I never felt better!! And lost a lot of weight. I recently started a slow process of FINALLY getting my taste back to normal and because so I started eating everything I could, well, simply because it was AMAZING that after 2 years I could taste again!! Sadly though I'm back at a heavy weight and feel crummy, foggy, exhausted. I've been thinking of getting back on a low carb diet mixed with IF because I miss how wonderful I felt!!! Thanks for this push that I needed to get me back into it again. You were so happy and excited in your talk and it made me remember that, that's how I felt and wanted to be there again. 🤗☺️
You are the greatest! What an inspiration you are. I'm a newbie - on my 4th day of 16:8. I won't say it's easy, but I'm sticking to it. Thanks so much for posting - I'm subscribed!
HELLO..Dear friend..lol yes friend ..I've followed you for quite a few years...and have been inspired by you..Randy...your beautiful girls / their guys...and oh my of course...the beautiful sweet/full of it...doggies Us to here in Pennsylvania..are doing the intermittent fasting and we are senior age and really believe in the power of it.Thanks so much for all your shares...and just being such a dear friend.May God bless you and yours always.
Do you intermittent fast? If so, what's your window.....16:8 or 18:6 or something else? And tell me why you use this window 😊
@@PLMannequin I switched to a high fat mod protein 0 carb carnivore diet and my acid reflux is gone.
I too am doing intermittent fasting but it is too early yet to see any results. You have given me encouragement to stick with it and see how well it can work for me! Thanks Renee!
@@pheenobarbidoll2016 It's amazing, isn't it how much it helps . . . mine didn't go away but it's much better.
@ *OttoCharles49* that’s a good physician! 😃
@ As of now I have lost 72 pounds. Only 18 pounds to go. I have 7 1/2 months to do it. Intermittent fasting has become a very good lifestyle. My doctor has taken me off my BP meds!
@@OttoCharles49 congrats, great job… you’ll get to 90
Started IF 1 year ago. I encouraged my doctor so much she's going to start doing IF!😊💕🏃♀️⛳🏌♀️
wow....IMPRESSIVE!!!! You are rocking it! 😎
Wow!!! So inspiring! You are a true example of health and fitness and it’s never to late to turn our health around!
I have been thinking of trying IF but need to research not sure where to start
Wow!!! Fantastic!!
It’s all so impressive and encouraging!! Then! You add your age and it’s just incredible!!! Bless you and carry on👏🏼
I started your diet when you first posted 5 months ago. I am 65 years old and NOTHING has worked for me in the last 10 years. I have officially lost 15 pounds as of today! It’s absolutely crazy!!!! No more bloating is huge for me.
Thank you so much. It’s a life style change for me too.❤️
Wow! That’s fantastic!!!!! 😃😃😃
I have had the same experience!😍
How many carbs do you allow yourself daily and how much water?
@@cindyeastbourn7642 I don’t count my carbs. I’ve just cut way back and have a minimal amount. I am also gluten intolerant so it makes it easier to not eat bread, etc because I feel so much better. Not sure how much water I drink but a lot. I’m always thirsty!

Drop whatever you are doing and go read the book Womans’s weight loss secrets: the unspoken truth, its absolutely life changing, trust me on this
My husband and I started intermittent fasting 5 years ago when we we turned 57 and we love it.
Totally agree on the protein - have it at every meal.
@@WelcomeToMyCurls Keep it up. good job.
I started fasting on march 2022, at this time I lost 40 pounds. I’m so happy with all the change I have done. Keep going !
*Month 3 Update:

I started IF about a week ago, and I have lost 3 pounds. I also incorporated 30 mins of basic home exercises 5-6 times in the week every day. I’m excited to see where I end up!
I too doing same thing 😉
Me too!
Thanks for sharing. What kind of cream did you have ? I am having a hard time finding zero calories creamer
Take care
PLEASE do some research on Erythritol and cancer. That stuff is SO bad for you!
i am 15 years old female and i was 72kg when i was 14 y/o. i was very anxious about my body and i have really low confidence.
I literally tried many diet and workout routines but nothing really helped and i started to gain weight even more. at the time it was
april 2023 i started to know about intermittent fasting.
I started 16:8 IF 8 weeks ago and I'm a true believer in IF for life! weight loss has been amazing and love healthy eating...Keep going!
We shall see!🤗
that's fantastic Brenda!!!! Keep up the great work!
Hi Brenda, did you change what you ate at all, during your 8 hr window? Thanks
Congratulations 🎉👏,
I have been doing IF since last March and can attest to the wonderful benefits it provides.
Have dropped
inches, brain fog, feel better.
🙏❤️💪
yes! Yes!
I am doing 16:8 right now and am thinking of switching to 18:6 . Do you drink teas while fasting?
I’ve been doing IF for 3 years. Love it. I add half and half, MCT oil, and collagen powder to my morning coffee. Works for me.
Preach it girl!!!!! I gave up my morning coffee and hated every second of it....but I did it. And I feel so much better for it too.
I am so happy to see this video. Just 2 days ago I started a plan very similar to yours fasting, net carbs counting and Pilates. This is a sign I’m on the RIGHT TRACK! 🎉
Oooo I enjoy pilates myself!!
@@jenniferlee7167 So true . Iam a diabetic so I get what your saying. Insulin resistance makes weight loss harder.
I have a terrible time with side effects from the Crohn’s medications (which basically destroy your immune system) and are all pretty bad, and since I’ve been doing IF I have not had to go back on them, very thankful for that 😊
That's great news!!!!!
Your hair is so beautiful! I’m 41 and have started getting grey/white hairs and I’m embracing it and can’t wait to be full on grey. I don’t see many people with curly hair with grey hair so I’m so excited for my future hair😂.
Thank you so much!! Welcome to the club! 💗
You are so welcome!!! I completely agree with feeling so much better....and I'll never go back to my old ways. This is my new lifestyle!
Yes , I just started IF , I’ve been reading that heavy cream . One once is fine
Great job!
Congratulations. You look fabulous. I have been intermittent fasting for four years. It has healed my type 2 diabetes and many of menopausal symptoms like hot flashes….gone! I highly recommend this lifestyle. Congratulations again!
@@kathydilorenzo9744 yes helped me tremendously with hot flashes. Only get them very very rarely now. My sleep is so much better!
Thank-you!
@@christinelouisew1 how did you resolve the coffee issue? I think I will try a vanilla flavored coffee with half and half.
Today is my first day of IF. I’m needing a change for my mental and physical health. Thanks for your videos they are so encouraging
Finally, someone who talks sense, makes sense and keeps it real! Thank you!
Have a can of bubbly's they work. Tonic water with soda gas but no other additives like diet coke etc.... Soda gas a tool can help you feel full
We must have started this lifestyle about the same time. I started because of health issues-insulin resistance, weakness, and high blood pressure. 😞😞
I started July 20th 2022.
Great job, Carole! Keep up the great work!
Congratulations 🎉I have started a 20:4, excited for some amazing results
Love hearing that!!!
Xl falls s
Lorena as a vegan are you aware that jello has gelatin in it?
I love your hair, such a nice blend of dark and grey. It looks like you intentionally dyed it that way. Very nice!
That's great news!!!! I was excited to learn that my half and half wouldn't break my fast. Made me a happy girl!
That’s great!!
You look amazing, especially your skin and your enthusiasm is contagious. Very relatable. Thank you ☺️
My husband and I started intermittent fasting five months ago.
Hi ,how has your journey been?Did you reach your goal in losing weight?
I started IF on the Monday before Thanksgiving 2022. Initially, my window was 18:6. I stayed on a keto diet -- no sugar, no grains, no starches
The 18:6 window lasted 2 days.
Glad it was helpful! 💗
That's fantastic!!!!! So proud of you Missy! I didn't gain any back over the holidays either despite my many batches of Christmas Crack! 😁
Hello,
Agree, I lost over 40 lbs since May last year with IF, absolutely love this way of life and won’t ever go back.
Thank you for sharing your story, and for giving us tips. Xx
Great job! Congrats!!! 🥳
Enjoy the half/half!!!! 😁
I'm just embarking on IF. Congrats to your change! I LOVE your curls!
Loved this video!
I also wanted to say, your voice and the way you talk is so nice to listen to!
You hair is so cute and your program today has totally inspired me to get back on intermittent fasting Thank you so much!! ❤Cherie
I was not overweight, but I was pre
diabetic.I neither was an over eater and junkie for processed food, with a moderate sugar consumption.
Great video, I've started IF, and also trying to completely quit sugar! So far so good. Your video is a good pep talk, and you look great!
It’s so worth it, I started a week ago and lost 3 pounds
