I started working on this music video at the same time that I was working on the Black Velvet music video (I still stand by my word that it is not recommended to work on two things at once). I put this on hold to finish the Black Velvet video, and then a week or so later of working more on this I got the idea for the In The Air Tonight music video. Therefore, this video has been in the works for a few months, however most of it has been done in the past month or so.
Because of the long gaps between working on this I lost count of how many hours I spent on this (I never kept track anyways), but I'm guessing it took around 350 or more.
Also I had a go at making a credits blooper, sort of like in Toy Story. My idea for the blooper was "how the hell did they get a piano into the woods anyway?". So that's how I think it would have happened, and the subsequent consequences of it (big words, I know).

tbh i found this sfm in a sea of videos all titled "piano is never animated correctly" and this was one of the rare "they animated a piano correctly" and thats just amazing
People talking about how the piano is animated correctly... EVERYTHING is! Lip-Sync, Drums, Guitar and Bass! I don't know, why I've just now found this piece of genuinely great art NOW and not years ago, but the nostalgia of the song, characters and animationstyle all hit me in the feels.
Suffice to say, you've gained a sub.
The animator has a background in music. The attention to detail is just amazing.
Fun fact: When researching how old this song was, I realised how old I am. The earliest memory I have of hearing this song was from around 2006 or 2007.

So who's ready for a somewhat long, rough interpretation of this amazing animation. This goes back to the alicorn immortality and The MLP FIM/Gen 3 issue so bare with me. After many eons the lands of Equestria have faded and only Celestia, Luna, Cadance, and Twilight are the only ones left from the era of when ponies basically ruled the planet. All that they knew and held dear is gone now, and Twilight's friends have passed away leading her to stray away from the other three alicorns. While Twilight ventures the ever changing world, she comes accustomed to the fact that a new species has control over the planet called humans. She befriends a few of them but it never feels the same as she tries to grasp the memory of her friends from so many years ago. One human she knows pretty well is a washed up pianist and they will sometimes sing music. Unknowing to her human friend the music is the only thing that can help Twilight remember her early life of happiness.

Why is it that Twilight can never make friends with future generations like Celestia obviously did?
Not usually a fan of headcanons but I can get behind this one.
@@onealone-jt8oi well comment from 2 years ago, I think it is most likely due to her never wanting to let go of her friends. After all, with the, gone she only remembers them in memory and doesn’t want to forget them. I think her biggest fear is losing memory of her own friends. While Celestial and Luna are the only ones who knew fully well of losing those you cared for and moving on, Twilight remains stuck on the past: never letting go of the memory of her friends and never moving on. While indeed, she befriended some humans but as main comment above us said, it doesn’t feel the same when she’s with her old friends.
Plus, I think there is that underlying fear that Twilight would outlive her new friends, the humans, like she did with her old ones. To me at least, I think Twilight sees being an Alicorn a curse than it is a blessing which is why she strayed away from the three remaining Alircorns.
She'll always have discord, though after flutershy goes that might not be such a good thing

I can't get over how you show the keys being pressed or with the strings on the guitars when most people just take the easy way and only make it look like they are playing the instrument while never showing the keys or strings of said instruments.
I feel you always go above and beyond with your animations. just what I have been looking for.

I never expected TF2 and MLP to be in the same video… ever. But this was pretty good nonetheless. Music was nice, editing on point, and you got another UA-camr complimenting you on having properly animated the piano keystrokes to match the notes played.
The downside of being a princess, Twilight is so closely tied to her friends it is a part of her cutie mark. The whole story could very well end with her feeling so alone after the last of her most beloved friends inevitably go the same way as Granny Smith, that she leaves Canterlot takes the form most familiar with happier times to grieve.
Detailed animation. Great, mood fitting, lighting. Solid lipsyncing. Great framing. etc, etc. Keep up the fantastic work. One word of advice from on SFMer to another, mostly on the grounds of the lipsyncing, I'd like to see more emotion in the mouth itself. You know, bigger expressions for bigger notes. If they're belting out lyrics on the top of their lungs, their mouth should be much bigger and in turn more expressive. That's my opinion anyways. Overall the lipsync was spot on. Really top notch work. Especially on the sniper playing the piano. That's detail and dedication. Congrats!

It is a great song, so good choice. Lip sync was spot on. Facial expressions were real and well placed and formed. Body motions were also fluid and not chunky or ridged. Attention to detail was amazing, especially the sniper being on correct keys while playing the piano. I'm a fan now. How to see more soon.

I don't know how or why... But the little pony characters go so well with tf2. Maybe because of their comedic antics? Or the contrasting yet complimentative blend between the gritty and the cute? Or their shared notion of commradery? Either way I like it.

I do not know anything about playing a piano, but the detail of each of Sniper's fingers playing each key looks very good!

The animation was amazing. I couldn't help but watch the detail you put in, both the lip Sync, the Instruments synchronization was more than just them mimicking the movements, it was like they were actually _playing_ the Instruments, which sadly, few animators do.

So simple, yet i bet all the minor details you put must ve been a pain to make like the notes synced on sniper's piano. Amazing to see all that care put in this, may be late but still, greatly done dude
So sniper and twilight went out into the forest, set up a grand piano, and literally sat on a fucking cardboard box while they waited for it to rain so they could begin, lol.

You know what all these SFM pony videos prove right? It is possible to do a 3D version of the show that looks like the 2D show but feels more tangible. That and that people already like this style of animation and would watch such a show. I'm just waiting for Hasbro to notice the potential of an adult-focused MLP show done in this style with more realistic themes and topics.

Thanks man! I generally don't use the models with the eye reflections, because the majority of people prefer the look of the eyes with the show-accurate reflections, but I wanted to use it here to see how they work in an animation context.
