I have been around horses for 50 years and I currently own nine horses, so that is quite a good start I would say. How about you? I would say that most soldiers spend a handful of years at the HCAV and many of them have no previous knowledge about horses, the difference in their level of skills is often times clear on an individual level. Poor horse! I wonder what his problem was? The guard certainly displayed excellent horsemanship and patience. I often wonder if there is something about that box on the left...is it haunted or something? I see more horses acting up there than on the other side.
The horse looks very uncomfortable. I’m sure they take good care of them but I hate when they make them stay on duty when they are not in the mood or are feeling off. We all have those days and animals have feelings too, they just can’t voice them.
You jest! The Trooper is very new and very weak, either her or her twin couldn’t even find their own stirrup iron in a vid that I watched yesterday, a Captain had to put her foot back in so that she could dismount, that was an embarrassment and this performance was excruciatingly humiliating. There was no problem with the horse whatsoever, other than in the unlikely scenario where it is due for the dentist, it was just sizing her up. Between that and the half-speed gatesman I’m embarrassed to say that this is my family regiment frankly
The women talking about "the horse has the wrong bit" and "they should remove it" and "the tongue is caught under it" etc, is ignorance at it's best. NEWS FLASH lady, a horse's tongue is SUPPOSED to be under the bit! In fact, these horses that are wearing full bridle have two bits, a snaffle and a curb. Maybe this horse is relative new to all this so they are allowing it to walk out and bring it back to teach it where it has to stand rather than fight with it to stay in the box, thereby making it dislike the box. Don't worry, these riders are expert horsemen and know what they are doing. This videographer's ignorance is showing!

My opinion is that if the crowd wants to take pictures thay should pay a fee with some kind of brackets on to show that that payed there dues. If the guard says its ok to stand by the horse to take pictures and the other people should stand way back by the signs and dont get close to the guards and horses. In my opinion the fee can go to help pay for the horses food and the vet bill what ever the fee must be go for what ever the horses need. Theres just so many karens that crowed the king guards and horses. Its would be up to the king guard to see the bracelet before thay would be allowed to take pictures. The king guard knows what kind of mood there horses are in. Plus the people well have a seveneir to take home with them. The bracelet should be green with the king setting on the horse. And a special logo. If the people dont have a bracelet its a no go to get near the king guard and the horses. Not touch the guards or the horses just the pictures. Them kings and horses are very well taken care of. And the same way with the guards in black bear skins and the king guards walking around if thay want picturs thay must show there bracelet. I dont like it when there trained and people mocks them when there working hard. Some of my family have served in the military i have a lot of respect for them guards.
It’s just a shame because that horse is in pain and they don’t care, all they care about is the horse standing there so they can put on a show and people can take pictures. A lot of these horses at the palace suffer from mouth issues because the mouthpiece is put on them too damn tight. They have a video on this channel where a tourist informed the guard that the horse was bleeding from the mouth. Just look at and count how many times they what the horse back through the doors to stay in there they didn’t care that the horse was in pain.
For the love of God, please do some research or ask before talking rubbish. This is not the Palace. The horse is not in pain, it’s taking the P There is no such thing as a ‘mouthpiece’ You can refer to the ‘mouth’ as part of a bit but you don’t. These two weren’t. The male is still sitting there mute, allowing the tourons to do as they please. The female was letting the horse do as it pleases. The Gatesman was in zombie mode. Altogether a humiliating performance imo
The horse had a problem with its mouth/the two bits in its mouth. The horse should have been taken in and his mouth properly checked. I feel for the guards who have to be disrespected on a daily basis. No amount of effort to enforce the rules of "out of the Box' , the painted lines and signs that was done will stop these entitled tourists. Can you imagine yourself telling people constantly to get out of the box., put up with the stupid poses that these women do thinking they are super models, the laughing at the guard, the hand gestures like pointing at the horse..duh, we can all see it's a horse, it must be exhausting. It's disheartening and degrading to the guard and when caught tourist think by saying "I'm sorry" will make up for their behavior? No, they are only sorry because they got caught. I wouldn't be surprised as time goes on and tourists behavior doesn't change that this tradition stops and there are no longer guards and horses being abused by tourists at horse guards. Didn't they stop having guards outside Buckingham Palace for this?? I'm not sure , think I heard about it somewhere. In the States they are having the same issue at Yellowstone Park with tourists disturbing the wildlife. They are told to stay in their vehicles but oh no lets get out and get close to filming a grizzly with her cubs or a Bison then all run when they get attacked. They have destroyed one of the Glacier pools by throwing garbage and touching it. Yellowstone is now considering limiting the amount of tourists at one time into the park because of the stupidity and disruption to the ecosystem. The same can happen at horse guards if this behavior of rude gestures and disrespect tot he guards by tourists continue.
Why does the producer of this video not clarify the situation? Surely he must have some knowledge or sourse of information? The HCMR has their own saddler whose job it is to make bespoke head-gear for each horse, the bits are particular to each horse, they don’t just grab one out of a bin.
@@hhandm having horses for xyz years doesn’t make an expert of you. I’m 69 on the 5th of this month and have been around horses since day one as my father was in the RHG stationed at Combermere at the time. He also served at Hyde Park as did my brother in the Blues and Royals.
The head-gear is made bespoke by the HCMR saddler and bits measured and used for one horse only.
Imo the horse may possibly be due for it’s dental check-up but apart from that it was just sizing up a weak Trooper
Whatever the issue is they will handle it just fine. They were taking care of these animals before 90% of these people commenting were even born
Great job Troopers....He just didn't like the people😮.... Don't blame him. They're all idiots ...Great job handling the horse Lady Guard. Those horses get the best care....Never mistreated. So back off clueless nerds. Follow the rules. Look beyond those stupid phones....😢
He was just trying it on and the Trooper let him. She needs to go back to the riding school for a refresher, learn to shorten her reins and get control or all her duties will be like this.
@@j.ksmith7432she is one of the most experienced riders and knows exactly what she is doing. The horse simply doesn't want to be standing in the box.
These horses are among the most pampered and well cared for in the country.
I am sure the horses have impeccable care. Yet it is clear that this horse is troubled by something. And it would be wise to bring the horse in and check it out.
What’s wrong with these phone addicts? Absolute idiots, like a bunch of vultures waiting to pounce on the trooper and that poor horse. I’d like to tell them where to shove those phones!
I second that
Amen 🙌
There is nothing poor about that horse, it’s taking the P!
I've never been impressed with the pomp n ceremony.....The horses on the other hand..... gorgeous!!❣️
This poor horse in pain is very sad the guard was good at calming great video thankyou
Not in pain ~~
This horse is behaving more like a Barn Sour day. They act up especially if they’re in training. No pain involved. It happens. The rollers on the bits are supposed to help them with boredom.
We do not know if the horse is in 'severe pain' or not. It does seem clear that it is uncomfortable for some reason. They take incredibly good care of these horses, and I am sure that it will be well cared for when back at stable.
Been watching this restless horse l think that bite is hurting his mouth that's why he keeps shaking his head change the bite on him he'll settle down l'm a old horse person been around horse all my life sat on a horse before l could walk or crawl from Pennsylvania usa
I think so too, the horse keeps moving his or her tongue.
Hope the cute Horse. has recoverd
Bit of a strong headline!
The horses are well look after
People in the comments might say the horse is abused or blame the trooper because the person filming (who doesn’t know horses) tells them so via the title (and the commenters don’t know any better, either, and just like to jump to conclusions).
The sensational tiles describe something that isn't there, to get one to scrutinize the video.
The horse I assure you is NOT in any pain. Those horses have access to the best veterinary care money can buy and in no circumstances would the animal be sent out to work in any discomfort. look at the way he/she allegiantly walked off at the end of his shift.
He looks uncomfortable with the bit in his mouth they need the horse whisper Steve young he’s amazing
It's time they stopped expecting horses to stand like ornaments
They don’t and they haven’t since the mid 1660’s. They know what they’re doing, you obviously don’t
How do you know it's in pain ?
Good Question.
Because the horse is showing about 12 well known and widely accepted signs of pain in a horse, as listed be researchers in equine health, the mouth being open being one of those signs. I made a longer post under this clip, which I refer you to for further comments.
@@hhandm Maybe you are better going direct to the King as you seem to know more about the horses than the people who are looking after them. After all they have only been riding horses and looking after them for over 200 years.
The King isn't directly involved with the day to day care for these horses, but the people who are know, just like me, that there is a lot going on with horses. You might think that horses are always without problems but that isn't actually the case. I have been around horses for 50 years and I currently own nine horses, so that is quite a good start I would say. How about you? I would say that most soldiers spend a handful of years at the HCAV and many of them have no previous knowledge about horses, the difference in their level of skills is often times clear on an individual level. Many, like me, can also find pertinent information about things, such a vet Sue Dysons extensive research on pain in horses and her list of what to look for in terms of signs of pain in a horse. You might be inclined to reply, in which case I hope that you will on your part contribute something factual, as childish argumentum ad hominem is the signum of someone with nothing to say, and doesn't bring a conversation forward. I also direct you to a post that I did in the feed under this clip for further information.
@@hhandm gosh I only asked a question,no need to be nasty about it,flipping heck
How do you know the horse is in excruciating pain ?
Poor baby. Why can’t he get a lot rest!
The horse is fine . He is just taking the piss out of the trooper for not being able to manage double reins with one hand
She did a wonderful job under circumstance!
Horses CANNOT vomit !
I could see the poor horse was in pain with his back leg.
Some of the tourists show no respect for the guards
Poor horse! I wonder what his problem was? The guard certainly displayed excellent horsemanship and patience. I often wonder if there is something about that box on the left...is it haunted or something? I see more horses acting up there than on the other side.
Sensationalism
Lovely scene of london
this would be abuse the Troopers and everyone working there would never allow one their horses to suffer never
MISS LEADING TITLE !
These horses have great care!
@@jeffreycurtis3146 **100% **!!!!
The horse looks very uncomfortable. I’m sure they take good care of them but I hate when they make them stay on duty when they are not in the mood or are feeling off. We all have those days and animals have feelings too, they just can’t voice them.
The rider was upset by the problem the horse was in.
I agree, except that in this case it’s a Bridoon and a Banbury Curb Bit. The horse is literally taking the Trooper for a ride, she needs to get a grip or a refresher course imo
It's not a great look. But they're not going to make poor decisions when there's thousands of cameras there. I'm surprised they didn't take a closer look, though, or take horse back in earlier.
Cameras?? Cameras?? So they want to please people instead of care for their own?
What a ludicrous comment, IT'S NOT FOR THE CAMERAS, THESE GUARDS AND HORSES ARE ON DUTY!! IT'S NOT FOR ENTERTAINMENT!!!!! 🙄🙄
Oops! Sorry for bad grammer. I was reacting before putting my words down!!
....grammAr , not grammer.
I think the horse should have been taken off duty sooner and a vet called
It's just a problem with the bit .
Děkuji za úžasné video 🖐️🖐️🖐️🇨🇿
WHY DID THEY NOT TAKE THE HORSE IN STRAIGHT AWAY HE WAS DEFINITELY SHOWING BAD PAIN
I just hope those horses have a vet to go check on the, like every week .That's what i hope they answer ,also that the horse is feeling way better! Good Luck Sweetheart, hope we will have news from the horse health, by the Commander
There is a vet on hand 24/7 if there was anything serious he wouldn't have been sent out
@@dominiquecardinal4987 there is a permanent vet on site.
Absolutely these horses have the finest care. But couch riders won't understand,!@1fionach

These horses have the utmost best of care always so some of these comments are uncalled for as the obviously have no understanding of how these horses are cared for.
Ellos so la guardia real de rey, tiene su cometido y los caballos también, eso caballos reciben el mejor cuidado del mundo. Creo q la falta de respeto es de los turistas. No respetan las normas. Demasiado pacientes son. Un saludo desde España
How stupid having to take pictures of the horse that's got a problem it's not happy obviously to do with the bit in it's mouth
What makes u think the horse is in pain?
So cruel to make horses stand still on concrete Why can't with all the Royals money at least put stall mats down???
I think the lady Guard is concerned about the horse they r well treated and looked after i worked with horses for years i think the horse is in pain
The bit sounds like there’s a roller on it & these horses get The Best of everything. Not Suffering ~~
The said Horse is a young one and therefore flustered with all the idiots around it ,most definitely doesn't want to work that day. Who can blame the horse ,as I said too many ignorant and stupid people. I have seen a Horse in pain and this Horse isn't, please get your facts straight.!!!
How do you ow how old the horse is?
@@j.ksmith7432 How do you know the isn't ?
My cousins horse acted like this turned out he had a mouth ulcer and a bad tooth that hurt when he bit down
Everybody stand around stupidly and waits to shoot their foto. I feel sorry for the guard she worries about her horse.
I’d worry about the horse if I were you, the Trooper is letting it do as it likes, not healthy.
"Poor horse and poor girl, they had a tough hour because the bit just didn’t fit.
Really? Where did you do your Lorinery Science Course? The ‘poor horse’ is taking the P, the ‘poor’ Trooper needs to exert some authority, starting with shortening her reins.
@@j.ksmith7432 I have not completed the Lorinery Science Course; I merely expressed an opinion on what is obvious. No one has a monopoly on wisdom, but unlike you, I did not get personal or condescending. That will be your problem again, speaking to others arrogantly.
He should have gotten off that horse and took him to the barn right away. My mom was a Britt and she’d be very mad if she saw this.Shame on you
Poor baby. Why can’t he get a lot rest! Tourist are so dumb and disrespectful! Laughing at the horses in background
The horse is trying to be sick, and the woman tourist still stood there
My opinion is that if the crowd wants to take pictures thay should pay a fee with some kind of brackets on to show that that payed there dues.
Sorry but that is totally impractical and unmanageable. These are NOT Kings Guards, they are infantry.
Don't be so damn stupid, I'm disabled and if I had the care these horses do I wouldn't be in 24/7 pain. Pathetic post 🤬

The horse is not in pain, it’s taking the P
There is no such thing as a ‘mouthpiece’ You can refer to the ‘mouth’ as part of a bit but you don’t.
These horses have bespoke head-gear made by the well qualified Saddler of the regiment, he is responsible for the fit.
@@valerienorton4371 you and me both and it’s sickening! Not I might add that I’d like to see the standard of care reduced for the HCMR horses but getting some myself would be good!
Colic? The heck with the shift help the horse.
I haven't seen the horse yet. Just responded to in pain comments. Apologies to everyone. 😢
They were puzzled, too. The horse was more agitated than usual. It acted as if it was nauseated. I hope it’s ok. Colic? 😢
The troopers are amazing
These two weren’t. The male is still sitting there mute, allowing the tourons to do as they please. The female was letting the horse do as it pleases. The Gatesman was in zombie mode. Altogether a humiliating performance imo
The horse had a problem with its mouth/the two bits in its mouth. The horse should have been taken in and his mouth properly checked. Sometimes horses with fleshy tongues and a straight pallet don’t do so well with so much metal in their mouths. Could have been something really simple that needed adjusting.
The horse is wearing a bespoke head gear made for it by the highly qualified regimental saddler who checks everything. There is no problem wit the bit but more attention needs to be given to the curb chains sometimes.
Possibly the curb but definitely the horse should have been taken in and the horses mouth and the bit properly checked
We all need a mental health day from work!
The horse 🐴 is tired of humans that is disrespectful they have feelings to 😢
The horses get the very off every single thing we'll looked after the trooper would be in trouble if he didn't look after his horse know one else is too get on his back any one who saying there not look after are very wrong good.luck boys you need it

the horse is not abused and in pain. jesus, people who don't know what they are talking about should shut up. then when the guard is trying to move the horse into the yard the people are like vultures with their cameras following it. this makes me hate tourists more and more.
Time to make some glue😮
Why does the producer of this video not clarify the situation? Surely he must have some knowledge or sourse of information? In my opinion, as an experienced horse woman, i cant see any neglect or cruelty. If there were, believe me, the proffesional animal welfare people would be on hcav like a ton of horse manure!
I'm not understanding why they switched sides with the horses that doesn't make sense do they think the horse is going to be okay if just by switching to the other side doesn't look like it it looks like it's still having issues
Sensationalism sells...
No hace falta ser experto,se nota que el caballo algo mal tiene en la boca ,y el pobre guardia no se da cuenta y los otros que vienen tampoco, pobre animal ,y no es que lo traten mal ,
Could the horse have Choke? Looks like something bothering in throat.
There's a problem with the bridle/bit. Or he has a bad tooth or injury in his mouth. He wasn't longing to get back to the barracks, he was longing for them to take the painful bridle off! Where is the troopers support?
Right here! I bet I “old days” when the guard was on duty not one person even walked anywhere near them. These tourists are awful. How rude and obnoxious.

Horses cannot throw up! 😂😂😂
Why are you lying to get clicks...it's a horrible thing to do
BTW how on earth do you know the horse is struggling in Severe Pain. If he was the Last trooper who is amazing would have pressed the alarm as the horse would have been making noises of distress. There is obviously something not quite right with the bridle / bit causing him to react the way he is. Notice she isn't pulling on the reins at all keeping her grip loose so everyone stop the omg they are hurting /abusing etc their horses. Those horses are better taken care of than most people so shut up.
Something up with the bit.
Wasn't in pain if it had been they would taken off strate away. it just didn't want to stand in the box if horse is in pain you'd know it they really let you know big time.
