Yeah i think its worth it. I got mine for 15 bucks at the thrift store. i soft modded it with endgame and upgraded the hard drive with chimp. in total i spent about 50 bucks. i got about 73 games on the hard drive. its been lots of fun. I never grew up playing the og xbox so this is all completely new to me.
Thank you all for your comments and thank you for tuning in. There are some mistakes in the video and I'll do better next time. Yes the custom dashboards do require certain files, and you do need to softmod your xbox. Mr. Mario 2011 and Modern Vintage Gamer have excellent videos around those.

Nickachu Productions: I noticed you have Morrowind. You should get the Game of the Year Edition because it has Bloodmoon and Tribunal. How would you rate Forza Motorsport between 1 and 10? How would you write Juiced between 1 and 10?

Please take this as constructive criticism. I know you have a young channel. You barely scratched the surface. You didn't really explain that this only works on a modded XBOX, or that the custom dashboard is XBMC4GMERS, etc. (I'm going to look for that theme, I love that original look) I know those are large topics and it would be worth sharing a couple of videos of your own mod, even if there are hundreds of them out there, you do you....Should you get an OG XBOX in 2024? No. Unless you're dying to relive the days but emulators have FINALLY been worthwhile. Buying an OG XBOX in good condition is going to set you back about $100. To mod it, it can cost between $30 to $300 dollars. My main box has a 4TB drive and a Project Stellar w/ HDMI mod. Add other odds and end in and that's over $300. Another XBOX I softmodded, free because I had the parts and required game on hand but I did get a $30-ish dollar Open Xenium mod chip. Then there is my first modded XBOX I did in 2004-ish. Sports an Xecuter 3 chip, rear USB ports for mouse and keyboard for linux and a 500 IDE drive. That probably ran me about $200 back in the day but totally worth it. Its been a winter time tradition for me and my wife to play SSX on the XBOX most years. NFS was definitely enjoyed too. My daughter loves NFS Most Wanted and running away from the cops (should I be concerned?) Well, good demo video, should have just added a little more explanation. Good luck if you plan on taking the channel further or just wanting to show off your cool mods to your friends or the world!
Thank you for the feedback. Greatly appreciated. Still learning, no script. The main focus was Insignia, however, it seems I got got caught in the nostalgia and wanted to also show some of the benefits of a soft modded Xbox.
I linked Mr.Mario2011 as he is a very reputable source. Absolutely should add more detail between the highlights. I'll use that to build my next videos.
