Fun fact...XDH have been invited to collaborate AGAIN with YB on YBs next album (edit: they have confirmed collaboration on YBs next album!) and they have another metal song coming on their own album in October!
Metal and rock in south korea are loved genres with their own community of supporters but xdinary Heroes are the first ones that do both this kind of music that are backed up by a big agency (averyone Is free to correct me if i have made any mistakes, i know very Little about the rock and metal communities of south korea)
@@luciagianquitto4010actually in a way you are right. Music like Metal or hard rock are typically not really common in Korean bands that aimed for mainstream, let alone bands from JYP. So far Xdinary Heroes later music have gone harder, but not really as hard as this song.
@@luciagianquitto4010 Dreamcatcher’s Japanese releases are metal-much heavier than their Korean stuff-and they flirt with a few genres (Don’t Light My Fire is symphonic, a touch of Nightwish). No More was composed by Hammerfall’s guitarist and really has that power metal vibe! Rolling Quartz leans rock but also dabbles with metal. Otherwise I can only think of Yuta from NCT’s recent solo release, which is pure visual kei (a type of metal very distinct from jrock).

Gunil studied at Berklee College (drums). Gaon and Junhan have been playing since they were teenagers, and they also went to special academies. The guitar teacher from jype praised their skills very much, and said that when he first saw Junhan playing, he thought Junhan was better than him. Jungsu and Seungmin started playing keyboards during their training, but also Jungsu played the piano when he was child, Jooyeon learned to play the bass 2 years before his debut
Gunil already knew how to play the drums and went to University in the US for music and drums specifically. He did get on instagram live recently and said that the double kick pedal was hard and he said some knowledge on it but not enough and had to practice a lot of the basics to be able to perform the song. He also said this is definitely the hardest XH song he has had to play.
I thought you guys have forgotten Xdinary Heroes because you still haven’t reacted to Troubleshooting album tracks and open beta release ‘Save Me’ while you have frequent reactions on other groups. I was so glad when I saw this video. Thank you so much, i enjoyed the reaction.
I've been dreaming about a metal track from them for a loooong while now and the fact that it's a collab with Yoon Do Hyun is a cherry on top for me, because I actually started diving deeper into YB's music this year.
So some of them didn't play their current instrument when they became trainees, but afaik they all played some sort of instrument already. Gaon and Junhan signed on for the band project from the start and already played guitar, Jooyeon played guitar and then was told to learn bass, Gunil actually went to Berkley College of Music here in the US for drumming and was scouted bc of the drum covers he posted on yt, Jungsu has played piano since he was little but hadn't done so seriously for a while so he had to relearn a bit when he was switched from idol training to the band project, and Ode is the one I'm not sure about but he did go to a music academy before becoming a trainee so I think he might have started to learn a bit of piano or guitar.
As a metal fan and rock/metal podcast creator too for me it's more between emo rock and metalcore. Has some BMTH vibes too. And still has the XD vibe as well. With YB singer on this . Such a great combination.
finally more xdinary heroes reactions!! Also, Gunil has used double pedal in other tracks and covers, and the only one that had 0 experience with instruments is Ode I believe.
The first time I listened to Instead I was so shocked. This is the style of music I listened to before I got into kpop. So hearing Xdinary going full metal blew me away.
Gunil has play the drums more than 10 years but he's not familiar with double pedals he's a berkelee major, and he says that this song was the most difficult he has been played, and Ode is the one that don't play instrument before join the band, Jungsu was a pianist but he starts with keyboard when ybey swicht from idol trainee to band trainee, Jun Han plays guitar and bass before, Gaon was in a band as guitarist
When I listened to the song for the second time (after crying my eyes out because it felt nostalgic as hell), the song reminds me of a Bring Me The Horizon song. Synths, screams, the metal guitar, the double pedals. Chef's kiss.
I believe Yoon Do Hyun said YB's next album is gonna be a metal album. So I'm assuming much more screaming and growling in Yoon Do Hyun's professional future haha
Gunil graduate from Berklee in drum study. Junhan, Jooyeon and Gaon enter as band trainee, they already in band group before trainee. Only Junsu and Ode is idol trainee.
