In this video Kevin waxes rhapsodic about the new Mission 700 bookshelf speaker, a dramatic evolution to the engineering of the original Mission sound while offering a taste of nostalgia through a retro design, harkening back to another time. Also, watch until the end when Kevin talks about a certain rockstar and gives you a chance to win a T-shirt.

Dear Kevin, great your video. Last weekend i listened the Mission 700 with my valve amplifier Leben cs300xs. Very surprised with the great sound obtained with the selector in 4 ohms, despite these speakers are 8 ohms. I had a primaluna prologue classic and as you said and also the operation manual, choose the impedance with the sound that likes more to your ears, same you said at the end of this review. With the primaluna the best sound for me was obtained matching the same otput impedance with speakers.
With the leben It is impressive the sound difference in 4 ohms, great voices, controlled good bass, what a difference!
The question is: changing the impedance selector, am I changing the frequencie response or altering the mastering of music ?
Furthermore, there are many articles in the web saying that if i change the selector to other impedance this could damage the amplifier....
Also there are articles thay says that earing with headphones and no speakers connected there is a risk for the amplifier.....
    Best regards !!

My first speaker was Mission 761 bookshelf bought in 1988 for $299 CAD with all the money I earned pumping gas at $4/hr ⛽️
They brought great enjoyment and pride of ownership amongst my peers (made in England unlike these new Missions).

I liked Chrissie Hynde and The Pretenders. What made her even more special is that she was married (for a few years) to the lead singer of one of my favorite bands (Jim Kerr of Simple Minds).

I love Crissie Hynde & The Pretenders! And fun fact - I went to Kent State (where she also went, but at a different time). I had a summer job at a restaurant called the Pufferbelly and, so the lore goes, Chrissie had also worked there once. Timing...is...everything!!!

That first Pretenders album was quite possibly THEE best debut album by a rock band ever. If Chrissie Hynde had never done anything beyond that, she and The Pretenders would still be - how shall I say? Well, to put it in Kat's language, "A %$#*ing great band!"

She has a terrific catalog of songs. Her voice is unique and very dramatic (but in an understated lind of way). She is one of my favorite sounding ROCK singers. Great tunes for remonitioning of the old days.

Yep she’s great. Really enjoyed her auto biography. I saw her with Elvis Costello early 80’s in the Cal Poly gym. Really bad sound in there. I’ve still got a pr. of Mission 753 rosewood 1st generation. I’d love to find a home for them, haha.

I like Ms. Hines but not my go to sound. What I really like are the Mission 770's but haven't hears the 700's yet. If they are 80% of the 770's I would probable li,e them as I have a smaller listening room ( 13 by 10 ) and these would probably be better fo that room.

Hi Kevin, I was in your store today 1h and 15 min before closing time and I wanted to listen to a Pathos amp(any). I was told that they wont be able to accommodate me because the amp is too heavy and they don't have enough time to set it up. Then I asked if I can listen to a Pathos amp with headphones. That was not an option either. Please talk to your sales people. I don't think they are interested in selling anything. I have no way of contacting you. That is why I am writing here. Thanks.

    • @upscaleaudio
      @upscaleaudio  Рік тому

Hey @Nikolay Dudumov - I spoke to Ken who was the manager on duty as well as Joel who was helping you. As you know Joel is very gracious and bends over backward if he can. We take a lot of time to do a setup, and both sound rooms were booked and prepared for Saturday morning when we have a skeleton crew of two people. To undo that and change it would take 30 minutes, then the amp takes 15 minutes to warm up. We are happy to play a system for you on the fly if you stop in without an appointment, but can't promise to change a system out.
The Pathos headphone amp wasn't there because it was packed and shipped to Can Jam in New York. It's much better to take time with Joel or any other salesperson you speak to and narrow down what is right FOR YOU. There should be minimum 30 minute talk about what you want to have happen, the room, the rest of the system, and your tastes.

Alanis Morrisette was responsible for the death of 102.7 WNEW in New York, maybe the greatest rock and roll radio station ever. The suits decided they wanted to attract for female listeners, and she was their lead artist. In the book Up All Night, evening DJ Carol Miller Said she wondered why they were playing an artist who hated men, when the core audience was 17-35 year old males.
