- The Lincoln Centre Theatre’s critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning production of My Fair Lady comes to London in Summer 2022, the first major West End revival of Lerner & Loewe’s much-loved musical for 21 years.
My Fair Lady tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who is determined to transform her into his idea of a “proper lady”. But who is really being transformed?

This musical is a reason why I love theatre.masterpiece in every point
Saw it yesterday--it was fabulous!
I saw it last night in Manchester. It indeed is great! The actors made it really enjoyable, played with joy and passion. Definitely deserves to be seen, perhaps more than once only!
Such an incredible production!!! Makes me happy London gets to have the Lincoln Center Production there. Saw it when it was on Broadway. Yes, Harry still has it as "Higgins". Saw him do it with Lauren Ambrose. Run. don't walk!!!
The best production was in Australia with Julie Andrews as director, then the Cameron Mackintosh’s, but this one for me was not so great...not so elegant...and I know really, really, well this musical.
That is Bertie from Downton as Higgins!!!
Saw this Thursday and I loved it and I am a huge fan of the film.
Going to see this tonight.
I love ever bit of it I've see it 2 times now 😁
I really want to watch it online and willing to pay for it, is there anyway i could watch this play online :((
It's good to see diversity in casting, i am seeing in the main role.
My town theater we cast based of erea and original cast. If we do diversity we will cast white people or consider them as Simba when we do lion king
@@dane4073 There's no shortage of roles for White people
Cringe
❤️❤️
Lol
I’m all for diversity. But would a black woman really of been that character in 1912?? I will accept diversity in casting when I see a white woman playing Effie in dream girls or something similar. It seems to only be black people covering white roles. Not the other way round and not other races
last i checked, it isn't 1912 anymore
This is set in 1912.Makes no difference that we are in the year 2022.What a ridiculous comment to make.
@@hdhdu7634 Yea the play is set in 1912...what is you’re point again🤷
Huh??? Why would black people not exist in 1912 London 😭 also the role of Eliza Doolittle has nothing to do with her race. Effie on the other hand is deeply rooted in the idea of her being a black woman in the music industry. Get a god damn life and honestly just shut up
what a stupid thing to say. dreamgirls has a black cast because it's a story about a key period in black history and progress in music; eliza doolittle's issue in my fair lady is her class, which people of all races can relate to -- black people did exist in the uk in 1912 btw, it's just that history books were not written about them.
... she isn't no eliza doolitle. Won't be watching that
Like you'd be able to afford it
...and Audrey Hapburn rotates in her grave.... :))))
And Julie Andrews is crying…
But Hitler is super glad that he has comrades like you on his side.
@@ElizaHamilton1780 You don't have arguments, so you insult.
Actually if you’re referring to her voice Marni Nixon rotates in her grave...as she sang for Audrey...
@@RuthLockwood I hate cancel culture....
The production is great but the main actress ruined everything. Very bad casting. Furthermore the ending is nonsense. The best actor was Stephen K Amos. And Vanessa Redgrave was amazing. But this Eliza... no, I dislike her acting. Very poor.
This whole show is outdated! Doesn’t work for todays modern world. You need a really strong singer in this role and sadly she just isn’t. I hope she got the role on merit though, and not as the token black person! The fact only in the last three years we now have casts that have diversity! Should have happened years ago! It shouldn’t even be a thing what the colour of her skin is, but she’s being paraded as the “new Eliza of our generation” a woman being told how to behave by a man! Really?! It’s 2022!!! We need new productions, we’ve seen this all before. Leave it in the past
This isn't the best recording of her. I saw Amara in Les Miserables as a powerful Cossette, as well as in a benefit concert (as herself) and she's an incredible singer. I think the trailers are put together quickly before the cast has hit their groove. I'd love to see her perform in this, after having seen this production twice in California. BTW, they haven't changed a word of the book, but the blocking makes it clear that this is a post-modern MFL.
I saw her in this recently and she really is excellent. The trailer doesn't do justice to her voice.
Cringe.
...now please don't hate me for saying this, but...............FINE! I won't say it!
What?
@@mariahcarey9470 You know?.....That thing! The thing that everybody is thinking! THAT THING!
@@johnbeaton1076 it could still work though. Maybe a foreign Princess from Africa.
@@johnbeaton1076 no, just explain yourself
@@chaiyan9656 nudge, nudge, say no more...eh? You get it! A nods as good as a wink to a blind bat...eh? Let that be an end to it!
Woke woke woke !!!!!!!
It's OK that she's black, but the accent and singing don't come across as good in the trailer
End wokeness.
It drives me mad that people can’t keep to the theme of history. The character Eliza Doolittle would not have been a black person in historical Britain! This absurdity is messing about with historical facts. It would be like a white person playing an aboriginal character in a play … I’m sure this would never happen! I agree that all people from all races should be given equal opportunities in theatre but not when it messes around with themes and facts. It was like how all different current British people took part in the Industrial Revolution of Britain in the 2012 Olympics … it just never happened like that!!!!!
So tired of this constant recasting of characters strictly for the sake of the woke agenda. She is not the greatest singer either!!
