Not true. I never go over 35 active hours weekly across a few platforms and always end up making $1k weekly. I'm in the burbs. If I start seeing autonomous vehicles I'll be sure to have a parking cone in my trunk

@@subzero07094 All to do with where you drive, market saturation etc. There are still 'unique' areas, areas that do not have driver saturation. You are obviously in one of those. Many other drivers are not. LA, for example, is an absolutely saturated market. I have a friend who drives in a different state. He does well, because his market is not saturated, & makes min. $45/hr., all rideshare. My area is saturated, I never exceed $42/hr, not matter what I do. Out of 40+ hrs online, I'm only active around 10 hrs, because the other offers are just not worth taking. Privates now make up the difference.
This is the point that 238 is making. You can't just make a statement about the micro area that you drive, and think it applies all over the country. Because it certainly, does not!

    • @YourDriverMike

All these platform suck tbh, it's metrics say they are all in the green.
But we on the ground are dealing with less pay less volume and over saturation of drivers.
Last 2 weeks Uber volume is drastically down, can't get an order that isn't 1 for 1 d/km
Go hours without orders on all three major apps
Heavy increase in trip radar use aswell. Seems like they are trying to increase competitiveness amongst drivers in order to push pay outs lower
Also payouts and base pay is drastically inconsistent
Will get 12 dollar orders for 8 km with a 3 dollar base pay
And a 10 km order for 11 dollars with an 8 dollar base pay.
It's all about making the metrics work they couldn't care less if you make decent money or not.
I think soon there will be a massive decline in drivers, I have been working full time recently, and every single day you see a different driver you've never seen before, every restaurant 3 or 4 drivers show up to at the same time
Restaurant wait times are through the roof. I'm waiting ten mins or more for half my orders

The biggest issue they need to figure out is to not even give those orders that are ridiculous! $7 for 18 miles as an example. It cuts into the algorithm at least stop the order and say "it's out of range" for our drivers and maybe they can make another suggestion with AI!?? AI can track everything from junk orders to also great orders. It can learn and kick out or ENTICE a larger tip for instance if it's within the "zone of not being offensive"! As the riders are making less, all gig work companies need to make sure it's fair and entice more tipping for the miles driven...they are too LAX on crazy offers and should stop the order immediately and make another suggestion based on where they live! Does not seem that hard! Thanks for your content.

But when I was accepted for rides all my points that I had earned from deliveries and my platinum status went away and I’m blue status now. Not green? Does your status reset bi-weekly, monthly or annually? Do you know why this happened? Also the driver app seemed to change slightly when I was accepted for rides. I am new to this and have only been working for Uber for two weeks.

Compare the DD hot spots with your own market knowledge and wait in areas that you feel are best. Remember working around the edges of zones may have a higher risk of pulling you outside of your scheduled work zone because each restaurant has a set delivery radius so that radius may pull into adjacent zones.

I actively engage equally with both Uber and Uber Eats declining offers. If their AI was working, I would see better offers, not worse. Instead, my AR is 15%. $29.55 for a 54 minute 44.6 mile ride is not acceptable. $3 to $5 for 4 to 5 mile rides are not acceptable in any market, especially San Diego.

Ive been asking UE to add a filter so I can regulate anything $7 or below or milage's not to be offered to me and one for certain restaurants or locations. Add that filter and you will find out quickly what drivers preferences are. If AI will learn it then fine do it that way, just hurry up and get it done.

Some other commenters have brought up driver saturation and I can’t agree more.
We are seeing fares in less populated areas to be not only much reasonable but sometimes insane levels when the customer waits for a very long time.
Our group for drivers across Canada see fares as low as 1 dollar in like the GTA but in rural Vancouver fares as high as 50 dollars without tip.
The Oversaturation is bad enough I would say that it’s time to pivot but we aren’t seeing options to pivot to. I personally signed up for Amazon flex, had to go back on my shop and pay restriction and will be looking to exit this vertical (food delivery)

Also, declining orders doesn't have an effect with Uber, unlike Doordash. I can be more selective in accepting orders that'll actually pay well enough. My issue rn is that most of the promos around me are for the city of Houston, and I live in the suburbs. It's not feasible for me to drive 40 miles to make an extra $2 on every order.

Hey Mike, i think a part of the Retention has to do with confidence level. As we see some competitors either fold or get absorbed, the giants like Uber just feel more reliable. A user could install and try some new service but if they have no participants they might wait forever. (Chicken and Egg). With users being more confident i also feel more confident as a driver& courier. Competition is good but it's another equilibrium, one of the market instead of any particular company.

I totally hear you, Mike, about the economy. I think that a lot of drivers for Uber or delivery services are sticking around because of the state of the economy, and most of them are not happy with how much they're getting paid. What Uber is offering per delivery or ride is pretty low. They're taking advantage of their drivers, giving them next to nothing, and their platform is just okay. People are only using it still because the job market out there isn't offering fair wages. It's almost like living in poverty, just barely getting by on every paycheck. Plus, the vehicles we use to bring in extra money are decreasing in value. They really need to bump up what they're paying drivers. The base pay isn't cutting it, the bonuses aren't cutting it, and they'd have a better reputation if they took into account the price of gas when determining payments instead of just the distance. It's a tough situation.

I had been deactivated since July of last year due to low rating. I got randomly activated with no notice last week. Anyone know why and how? I don't want to ask uber themselves or maybe they'll deactivate me again. 😊

Fu Uber. They advertise $17 per hour during peak in Houston area. That’s not minimum wage after expenses. How does anyone do this anymore?

Uber on both verticals tends to pay the best with the least penalties. I do a lot of deliveries and rides in Phoenix. The Uber app and AI suite is the most accurate compared to DD and Lyft even. Like AI for driver retention there are many variables - economic for the driver being critical

Dude. It's one thing to listen to the deceptive and manipulative metrics but, without really diving into the truth, you're ultimately trading UA-cam revenue for soft enabling these companies in their deception. Please dig deeper into what you know is is reality. Thanks 🙏🏾

Well, I've been doing Uber Eats an uber drive for 2 years period I personally only have a window of 5 to 6 hours a day cause I helped take care of my father period I almost take every ride, I don't really look at what it pays me. I'm just grateful because I have to work. It gives me the flexibility to take care of my dad period I don't know all this language that you're speaking but as far as somebody like. Period I had to get the proper insurance. I think if every Uber driver actually got the proper insurance game over it would change everything. My insurance went up double. I'm a great driver. No accident snow tickets in my insurance went Up 22 hundred and eighty dollars and I have no accidents and no tickets period I think if every uber driver really got the proper insurance they would probably not do this cause if financially it would not be worth it period

This is all BS I've been driving Uber for years and the last month they've dropped down to where I go 4 and 5 hours in the Seattle area without one offer coming in, and if you do get an offer and you go to pick up the restaurant? There's 4 or 5 non English-speaking. Latin Americans waiting there for orders, so they're hiring illegals to drive.😮

All of these independent contractor gig companies have thier own criteria when it comes to considering who they accept as drivers. Could be cause DD only deals with food delivery and shopping but Uber also deals with passengers, so thier criteria may be a bit stricter.

I found this video very stupid and misleading, the retention and spending more hours on the platform is simply because uber has lowered prices so much that the driver needs to drive 10 hours instead of 6 for the same earnings. reason for that are upfront fares and sometimes over 50% commission that uber takes from drivers. Better delete this video
