So I should go to med school instead of buying this game

Same here. I have my dissertation defense on May 9th and still trying to make sense of those ingame mechanics just not to get mauled in what basically is every encounter in the lowest difficulty setting. So how did you do in your dissertation defence? Did you manage to graduate?
@ That was me playing Tyranny. Everyone says it's an easy game but I kept getting mauled by regular enemies on the lowest difficulty setting. Never figured out what I was doing wrong.
@@robosergTV agreed. Started on easy and now a year later (my comment is a year old) I’m almost on expert. In fact I’ve moved on from Pillars to Wrsth of The Righteous. I’m playing on one of the harder difficulties with a very optimized team. After hard studying all the mechanics.
Never tried a CRPG before.Thought it would be a fun and relaxing little journey. But after playing the game(sucking at it) and seeing this and how strategical you have to be I understood this is definitely not for people like me.
Talking to fast and bombarding with detailed information is just confusing. imo I really wish someone, ANYONE, would explain combat damage and reading damage during combat in an easy to understand tutorial for both games, the original and deadfire. NO ONE has yet to accomplish this. At the most you get explanations about character creation, which everyone already knows or is limited in surprise knowledge. For a game as popular as both this is truly amazing... I guess everyone just plays on easy and lets the AI figure out how to do the attacking. lol
30m after the prologue i find all the pausing and reselecting a different character incredibly tedious so now i'm just trying to play solo, league of legends mode without pausing. i don't have high hopes.
I agree. It is very detailed, but if I have to pause and relisten to every small part 3 or 4 times, then the pupose of speaking fast is lost anyway and i might as well watch someone taking their time to explain it. ... why don't i, you might ask, because information wise this is still the best explanation out there, i just wish HaasGaming would take his time when sahirng it and not rushing it as if is was an elevator pitch of the gamemechanics
I just got here to see what I was doing wrong in the combat compared to POE1, I can't understand for the life of me why my characters are not acting when I command them to cast a spell or use a skill. I even disabled their AI so they don't change the spells at their own all the time, which they do, if it's on, and spells are only cast after I spend 2 turns trying to cast them. First it takes all the action bar to cast the spell and nothing happens, then I wait for recovery, and then try to cast the spell again and THEN the spell is finally cast. WTF is happening in this Deadfire game?????
I've just finished POE1 and really just got the hang of the combat system there, so now, very lost on the POE2 combats system. Does anyone know why when I have auto pause on spell cast that when I am exploring in POE2, all the NPCs are casting spells (they aren't but in the dialogue box it says they are) and it keeps pausing the game, only by exploring not combat???
The video you have shown and your commands are not related to each other at all, so it makes it more confusing, especially when you bombard information without breathing.
I much prefer this delivery style to the break it down Barney-style approach others have; he delivers information in 12 minutes that others would take 20-30 to get through. You can always pause or rewind if it’s too quick, whereas fast forwarding with UA-cam’s time dilation and jumping ahead doesn’t really work well if it’s too slow unless they provide detailed timestamps, which takes more of their time. This is most expedient for all involved.
So that first part about the enemies Armour. When you mouse ever the enemy and its got icons of shields. The top number is the chance your character has to hit the enemy? So you have a 46% chance to hit?
Can someone politely answer a question for me? I'm new to the series, and I'm curious if I can play it like doablo 2. Straight action. Thanks for your time.
do i need to play the first to enjoy this game? i dont have much time and money to play both so i figured i can try this one assuming its the more polished one.
Honestly i woul dnot say one is more polished than the other. CRPG's like this dont evolve graphics wise. The mechanincs are different but not better or worse, just different. Pillars 2 tries to catch you up on what happened in pillars 1 and some think it does a good job. I dont think so. In order to be able to assess wether or not it does a good job at recapping what happened in the first game one has to know the first game. That ultimately affects peoples opinion on how well i catches up. I have had friends who never played the first who started the second and had NO IDEA what was going on as the second game builds heavily on the story of the first. Many of the characters personalities only really make sense if you were part of their character development in the first game. If you are between the two games I would pick up the first. You can always come back to the secon if you enjoyed the first and the first will give you plenty of gametime so you can safe up for the 2nd while playing the first.
Most of them are quite different, I have an (old) Pillars of Eternity 1 basics guide that probably is more clear for that one in particular. The notion of action speed, for instance, is the same but power level or afflictions aren't a mechanic in PoE1.
I sat there spamming left (or right? I still dont know to this day) click on enemies just basic attacking them because I didn't seem to have any abilities, the time between each attack took about 10 seconds and after thirty minutes of playing like that I was done
man talking making a complex game for complex sake. and they make this in real time and i thought they would make it simple form the first game but they just add more system on top of it
I wish u organized these into a playlist only ur poe2 ironman playthrough is in a playlist and I simply am not going to shuffle through 3 years of guide posts to find the other guides. That's a lost of missed views. I have to imagine a lot of ppl felt the same, what a shame.
*SPOILER ALERT* Interrupt mechanism is all hell very confusing and inconsistent. In one case it CANCELS the action, in another it only INCREASES ACTION TIME. Hauani O Whe is very very annoying to beat due to this mechanism,
Dude i have been playing for 25 hours game time and I thought that the second number on top of an enemy means how much resistance they had on that element or damage type. So i thought having 25% on that number was good because they only have 25% of recistances on that skill. I didnt know it was the opposite where 100% is the go to number. I have been doing only 25% damage per spell. And i am in path of the damned difficulty. Smh
@@rng2190 i thought everyone had 1 engagementto start with, but that it was buggy A.F. and that engagment ignoring enemy abilities were a dime a dozen so it was useless to worry about.
This seems like it would be fun to build your own character on but its so clunky and so many random mechanics that you get punished for as a new player to the point it makes the game feel unplayable.
Normal difficulty is so easy you don't need to understand any mechanics. Just position your party so that individuals don't get overwhelmed by numbers.
Im almost done with my real life PhD but I still don't understand the stats of this fuckin game.
So I should go to med school instead of buying this game

Best explanation of the combat mechanics I've found. Thanks.
300 hours in needed to watch this to still understand everything.
Dude what is the deal. Why do they make combat so complicated. They are alienating new fans.
@@Zoze13 agree, but you can play on easy

This is unbelievably dense with SUBSTANTIVE information. Great vid, even if just a bit fast :)
Perfectly clear, thank you so much
I referenced a character building basics guide a few times, that'll be up soon(TM). Probably early tomorrow.
Still waiting for it bro.
Holy fuck thank you so much. Idk why I couldn't find a breakdown this comprehensive anywhere else. You're a god sir.
your video is all over the place, why didn't you line up the actual video to what you were saying? makes it very confusing..
I will just carry on a-clicking my way to victory.
Spoiler alert. It won't work

if you want to try crpg just try divinity origin sin and divinity origin sin 2. it have an less complex system that easy to learn and hard to master
Agreed. Divinity is a good option. Ive beaten divinity, and this game perplexes thr hell out of me lol.
Also just throw it on easy mode and enjoy thr story if you want
did you try the easy difficulty?
This has actually made things more confusing

Yes, it indicates it targets their deflect (the shield icon) and has a 46% of succeeding.
Best video ever!
I’ve never played a CRPG before. After 2 mins of your tutorial I’m not likely to ever
They are not too difficult. In most cases, it's learning how you like to play and then building a strategy around that.
pillars of eternity is a good game if you wanted isometric Skyrim, even with better RPG elements.
Can someone politely answer a question for me? I'm new to the series, and I'm curious if I can play it like doablo 2. Straight action. Thanks for your time.
No

In my opinion (as a fairly new CRPG player) both POE1 and 2 have one of the worst onboarding for new players I have ever seen.
Great video but it's making me question whether I want to learn all these intricate rules, maybe I just try another game lol
Bit of advice, talk slower. There is no way people are going to remember things when you are rushing. No harm in a slightly longer video.
If they would just make this type of game slightly less nerdy in complexity it would be a hell of a lot more fun. ie. Path of Exile type combat. :/
Dude dude duuude you are talking way to fast its like your on combat speed x1. 8 I barely understood anything
I love this game, but i keep getting the crashing issues in hasongo and im like so done.. sigh
i just play on easy and enjoy the story :)
casual trash, REAL kaneda never play on EASY, tfuuuuu
