Amazing find! Randy Meisner's beautiful playing and singing are really on display here. Just an innately musical person. I can see why Rick wanted Randy in his band.
Rick was one of the early influencers of country rock, especially with the Stone Canyon Band. Wish he had lived into old age so we could watch his music develop...
Really enjoyed this. Had never seen it, before. Rick's abilities & contributions, as a singer/songwriter, musician & recording artist were underrated, in my opinion.
I had never come across this video before, must be my lucky day. So many of the song's, I never heard before. Rick was a master, a song writer and singer. He had a kind soul. Never forgotten.💓🎸🎶 🎤❤️
I just turned 68. When I was a little girl I had the biggest crush on him ... along with a million others girls of all ages...he was in a TV show, Ozzie and Harriet and they were his parents. He also had a brother, David. I think. It was a sitcom based on the real life people. But not their real lives. I can still remember sitting in our TV room, black and white, color wasn't on the market yet, and on the shows where he sang were the best. His manner of death for everyone on that plane was horrendous.
I've heard his music for a long time; with the Stone Canyon Band; but have never seen the video. Appropriately I've found this just after the death of Randy Meisner; who would go on to be a member of the Eagles. Thank you for posting..
And Randy took everything he learned from this experience with him to the Eagles, when it was really Rick who first blended country, folk, with rock and roll and created the embryo of the Southern California Rock sound. And this a great sound from all the musicians as opposed to the auto tuned, computerized sound you get now from every genre including country music.
Il n est plus le Ricky qui avait seize an, il a mûri, comme il chante bien, comme il est toujours beau et trop attachant, il est pour toujours dans mon cœur❤❤❤❤❤
This is a special rare hard to come by video footage of Rick Nelson along with the original Stone Canyon Band, speaking as one of the original Editors of Music videos for the launch of MTV, am surprised when working with Mike Nesmith from The Monkees we didn’t come across this back then.
Always wished that MTV would have included artists of the pre-Beatles era in it's rotation over the years. A missed opportunity to increase viewership. This special was produced by Rick's brother David.
We had limited availability and lots of film footage to squeeze in combined with a limited budget and time frame to prepare for the launch before handing it over to MTV
Rachanee Suzie Q. Many thanks for this sharing..I was never see it before.. Many thanks for your sharing I was listened to his songs since I was teenage and now I am 77 and I will listen to his songs forever.... Thank you so much again... Thanks....
Wow seeing the Troub being so empty in this video is shocking. Rick had so much going on in music but maybe his tie to the Ozzy & Harriet TV Show was a plague to him. He was great. May God bless Rick Nelson!
Wow, just could not believe it, Ricky live on video? Just love it! Have almost everything from RN, but did not know about this treasure! Thank you for posting this!
Rick’s live album from the Troubadour has been one of my all-time favorites since it came out in 1969. Great band and great music! Too bad that Tom Brumley wasn’t featured or even mentioned in the video. His work on the pedal steel was a defining contribution to the sound of the Stone Canyon Band. The Eagles owe a huge debt to Rick Nelson and the SCB!
This is so great! Rick was a few years too early with this sound. He evidently filmed much more than I thought from this era. His family should try to get full shows released if they’re in the vault.
This was created by David Nelson, (Rick's brother) so they do have the original film in their vaults. Makes me wonder if there are outtakes lying around as well.
