Leon has such an expressive Bowser. The crouching and intimidating approaches he makes by standing his ground and not jumping. He has so much control while he is shielding. He can be an impenetrable wall and an aggressive force all at the same time which is what bowser is at the end of the day.
The good ole' reliable. Kill's at 20%, Disjointed, The sour spot kills, decent shield damage and stun. It's 22 frame start-up and lots of landing lag matches how much raw power it has.

@A J You don’t even know how much thought went into this play from Leon. It’s fuckin brilliant. As a Bowser main, there are multiple things you have to test but most importantly is the command grab. One definitive thing you have to test is which characters can recover on which stage from a Bowser-cide above ledge and right off ledge. (YES, this is something you have to test and know for Bowser matchups. I’ve done it, and I’m sure Leon has done it.) Generally, under 100%, the opponent has more control over where Bowser will land than the Bowser player does. Which characters have more control at certain percentages varies (generally by weight) which means this is just another thing you have to test. I mention all of this because if you paid attention, MKLeo was grabbed at about 75% (under 100%), which means he has more control than Leon does. Leon knows this which is why he jumped off stage to command grab him rather than command grab on stage. Just as you saw yourself, Bowser nearly landed on stage but didn’t, which means that Leon initiates the command grab because he knew that Byleth could not recover and would not land on stage at that percentage. He was also swinging forward-airs under the platform to scare MKLeo into not landing on the platform. Byleth’s jump isn’t great so MKLeo could not simply jump to center stage or to the other platform like how many other characters can. Leon was also catching short hops and rolls with Bowser’s fire breath. This effectively made the area above the ledge the “safest” place for MKLeo to be but this was all conditioning so that Leon could go for the off stage command grab into guarantee death. Like I said, fuckin brilliant play by Leon.
I swear is it just me or is online Bowser that character you feel like your winning against the whole time than lose😂. Also anybody notice how when you take a stock from a online Bowser they seem to get a damn zenkai boost
As a Link player who's trying to learn Young Link (Link's too slow for me, and his attacks aren't heavy enough to make up for it), I've gotta say Bowser's annoying. Sometimes my inputs won't go in, and my punishes won't hit, Bowser will sometimes walk through my smashes and tilts, and sometimes I'll be killed by attacks that don't touch me. Bowser is definitely better online.

This is inaccurate. 3 of your ledge grabs can be tethers. Tethers don't, "count as an extra grab toward your ledge re-grab limit." Within your 5 possible re-grabs, up to 3 of those can be tethers and 2 more can be regular grabs. Or you can just regular grab 5 times.

Because Bowser was already so close to the ground when the d-air hit, the landing hitbox of the d-air was able to hit Leo causing him to be sent in a tech situation.
@Random Person Its actually not even at all. Bowser hard camps Byleth as long as the Bowser can play super defense at ledge when you get Byleth offstage. Byleth can't rly do anything unless its a combo that starts with neutral air since that's the only move that can help with landing. Overall, as a Byleth main as well, Bowser definitely is one of the hardest MUs for Byleth in the game.
I don't know if someone said it but in game 3, when Leon's Dair hits Leo and Leo doesn't die and stays on stage, it might be because of Leo used his jump, that causing the Dair to spike on stage (if no jump the Dair would have launched Byleth up not down) and Leo teched that interraction while hitting the stage !

I see a couple of flaws on his Gameplay as Byleth... Imagine the monster His byleth Could become if he optimized his combos... Example Nair-grab is a Mix-up not a true combo Unlike Nair-Ftilt that is one He used nair on shield against bowser normally the safest Options against shield is Reverse Hit U-tilt (-8 if spaced is safe) spaced D-tilt(cuz range) and Tipper fair(its -6 done correctly) U-tilt is amazing BnB against bowser (back-hit) Holy shit I gotta say MKleo is giving me EVEN More confidence that My character is worth it god damn... Characters like Sonic that require fast reactions by the opponent while not caring too much about input lag do well. Characters like Joker and Peach with frame-perfect combos that suffer from lag do poorly
To everyone saying Bowser is way better online: untrue. Lag brings out some of bowsers worst matchups in Samus, Young Link, Zelda, etc. Bowser gets camped out so easily it's insane. While Leon does a really good job dealing with this, it's normally very hard for Bowser to manuever online

MKleo should've gone cloud for the 3rd set... he is more suited for online play, his byleth looked a bit rough but he is always stubborn like that so there is no shame. enjoying himself using the character he like even if he loses.
I don't think MKLeo's taking the wifi stuff seriously.

I see a couple of flaws on his Gameplay as Byleth...
Imagine the monster His byleth Could become if he optimized his combos...
Example Nair-grab is a Mix-up not a true combo
Unlike Nair-Ftilt that is one
He used nair on shield against bowser normally the safest Options against shield is Reverse Hit U-tilt (-8 if spaced is safe) spaced D-tilt(cuz range) and Tipper fair(its -6 done correctly)
U-tilt is amazing BnB against bowser (back-hit)

Ax31. exe byleth gets a pretty sizable nerf online as well in my opinion, cant wait to see what leo is able to do once he can get some byleth experience in more offline play. But hey you seem like a decent byleth, want to play some dittos sometime?

To be especific RN I and other ppl on the Bylethcord are labbing KO percents on Nairquake-DA (landing hit into dash attack) and Im going to see which Out of Shield Options could Hit reverse Hit of U-tilt (Spoiler GnW up-B can not punish it, its about range not speed)
Im down for dittps on this weekend but I don't have Lan adaptor so I think I will not be optimal practice :,(
@@Alex-jz2hk hey man dont worry about it. playing against another byleth that actually cares about getting good with the character is all i want. plus, i never lab. so having a someone i can actually work on combos and shit with would be really good. today was like the second time ever i actually labbed byleth for a little bit.

Aye I need a definitive answer for this since online tournaments have been a thing for a while, what characters benefit from online and what kind don't?
Characters like Sonic that require fast reactions by the opponent while not caring too much about input lag do well. Characters like Joker and Peach with frame-perfect combos that suffer from lag do poorly

To everyone saying Bowser is way better online: untrue. Lag brings out some of bowsers worst matchups in Samus, Young Link, Zelda, etc. Bowser gets camped out so easily it's insane. While Leon does a really good job dealing with this, it's normally very hard for Bowser to manuever online

I love Leo, I wish he’d put more effort into these tournaments. I know thy don’t count, but he stopped trying after he lost the first one. Now he’s just playing for fun, which is fine I guess, but I miss seeing my favorite humble boi winning

Honestly I’m shocked that Leo was almost never baiting bowser up b at all. Almost every time he let his shield go down and got hit by it.
As a Byleth main who's not nearly as good as Leo, I can't understand why he double grabs the ledge so often with this character.
Yo, I’m a Byleth main too. I think he was doing that to stall and make space so he could get back on the stage without getting punished. That’s why I do it at least.

Can someone explain why mkleo doesn't utilize down tilt? When I play byleth I use it as a combo starter but I never saw mkleo use it. Is there a drawback that I'm not aware of?
