My personal experience with this:
Context:
Im 5 days a week in the gym, no cardio, just weights, 1,5/2 hour long bodybuilding/powerlifting training, eating 4 times a day, protein rich meals, supplemented with protein and creatine. My pre workout meal is consumed 1-2 hours before the training session, no preworkout supplement, just a coffee with my preworkout meal.
Observation:
I have noticed a positive difference in my mood, energy, performance, overall feeling when i am drinking powerade/gatorade mixed with EAAs during workout. I can highly recommend these drinks even without the EAAs if you dont want those (but this is a great combo).
Profit:
Gainz. You gonna drink something anyway during workout, why not help your body with these?
Same here I stay fuller
I feel like I’m able to push myself harder in the gym especially since my workouts are very vigorous
The taste of sugar can help lower RPE. I'm playing around with it atm, I have a couple of injuries that make my warm ups & intro sets take a bit longer. I have noticed it helps me feel 'energised' during the later stages of the session.
I drink a 20g whey + 30g dextrose intra workout. Feel great. Zero soreness next day
@@butsirrr when was the last time you significantly switched up your training? DOMS is mostly due to novel stimulus, so the drink may not be why your not experiencing it.
The late John Meadows would have begged to differ.
One guy said it's needed. The other didn't. What is Meadow's stance?
@RyanAl92 he swears by them. It's a must have.
@@RyanAl92 John Meadows recommended EAA's and Cluster dextrin (carb source). He cited a study that did intra-workouts of EAA's vs Carbohydrate vs EAA/Carb combo vs Placebo fruit drink (no EAA or Carbs), and the EAA/Carbo combo performed vastly better. As for the carb source, he prefers cluster dextrin for a steadier insulin release vs a spiked insulin release from something like dextrose powder.
@@WorkingFromHomeToday452 Damn. These are expensive. Thanks for confirming. I know the world's strongest man Eddie Hall also swears by intra-workout carbs. Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet.
Didn't he die at like 40?
Just started this mixing bcaa with intra, I’m 100% natty and I go harder than anyone else in my gym. I am not stronger than everyone but I out work anyone even on my bad days. I must say I do actually think this is having a positive impact on my workout. Maybe a placebo effect, really hard to tell due to the intensity of my workouts in the first place. I feel like with this combo there is no such thing as being exhausted. I just keep going. Again could be placebo effect time will tell I guess
I added cyclic dextrin into my intra and now those german volume sessions are achievable, before I had nothing for the last couple of sets.
@@Jafmanz I wanted to play around with a carb supplement. I’ll give it a try
@@lancer717 It's expensive. I only need to use it for 3 weeks out of 18 in my programme when I'm doing for example. 6 sets of flat bench, 3 of incline, 3 of wide grip then onto back...
a cheaper alternative is plain old dextrose...
@@Jafmanz wont gatorade work
@@SpaceStrike No idea. never seen Gatorade except on the internet. I don't even know what is in it.
Look at these fools bodies.. what they say hold no weight
Cycle dextrin
Listen what Milos Sarcev says about this...
Just drink apple juice?
link?
Milos thinks different...
Well pretty bullshit statements i lift for 3hours it does huge difference for the last 1hour keeping energy high as you entered the gym.
VITARGO + ELECTROLYTES + EAA 1,3litre of that for whole workout, if I don't I get strong headaches (low level of oxygen), loss of balance for several seconds on heavy lifts and overall total exhaustion, bad mood, hard to focus, more than -10% performance. on all lifts
I could say the same thing to you. what a pretty bullshit statement. anecdotal data, what you've basically done, proves jack shit
@@kamo7293 I honestly feel like I’ve been able to push myself harder with the intra workout
did the skinny guy really say he worked his way up to a professional bodybuilding level or am i imagining this?
With a Intra I feel I can train harder for a longer period of time like 2hrs. Vs non intra where I can still train fine but I feel like my intensity isn’t as high after an hour or so into a workout. I would say for longer sessions this dose make a difference to not having it.
so like gatorade?
I disagree as well i feel a massive difference with intra carbs i just dont get tired i go hard the whole time. Im only worried that is sugar and will rot my teeth or maybe make me diabetic does anyone know if this is a valid worry
Kelton Haven
I disagree. If your goal is bulking/building muscle, having carbs, electrolytes, lucine, and a bit of creatine intra workout is a great idea. it's also an extra 250 calories which adds up and can make a difference over a long term. I use body armor sports drink from Walmart and add 2g of leucine, 1 gram of creatine, and a pinch of salt. It's not a waste of time. It can only help in every regard. Little things can add up over time.
why not just use gatorade or powerade
Would taking maltodextrin before a 2 mile run improve performance?
How about if I wake up and go straight to the gym with no breakfast?
Bad idea unless you’re trying to do a fasted cardio
MUH STUDIES!! 🤓 very easy to test this out for yourself. You’ll likely find you perform better with far less drop off.
If you’re lean, it makes a performance difference.
I think the thing they missed is the time you workout... if you must wake up early morning with no time for a meal, just a shake of some sort before hitting the weights then some carbs pre and intra can make all the difference between flat and elevated energy levels. Doesn't need to be a lot of carbs, but just 45g total split pre and intra can be enough for the average sized person.
I go to dollar tree sometimes I buy the energy drinks now they come with everything and for a dollar if you buy stacker you get 4 pills for a dollar, it helps,
I guess most natties can't really do hard enough for long enough for something like this to be beneficial. You'd probably fatigue your respiratory system and muscles by 1 hour.
I enjoy the fat burners and energy drinks ,but don't need extra carbs, body has enough
An intense workout should be no more than 30-40 minutes, one does not not carbs, this is a sales lie perpetrated by worthless supplement companies.
lol
BS if you do a full body workout. Lots of movements to warm up for, and then do working sets on. Even then I stack everything up with supersets and it comes out to about an hour and a half. I think at that timeframe a little extra glucose intraworkout stands at least to help with focus/motivation to not want to end things early and go home compared to a true physical performance boost.
Dude, I do 2-3 hours in the gym and if I don't start pounding carbs 30 mins in the wall I hit is PURE AGONY. I get dizzy, my skin hurts, I could fall asleep on the bench and can barely sit up straight. I do 5-8 muscle groups with 6-7 sets and at least 15 reps. (sometimes past failure) I have to have carbs no matter what. My body cant do without it.
