    what is the tuning of this instrument?

    • @luteshop
      @luteshop  3 роки тому +2

      Like the lute, fourths with a major third in the middle. This one is tuned with the top string at E, so it is exactly like a modern guitar except that the third string is tuned to F# rather than G.

    Beautiful, but the name of this spanish instrument is vihuela de mano. S. XVI. Gracias.

      Muchas gracias Eduardo. The vihuela de mano seems to have usually had a flat peghead, whereas the Italian viola da mano seems to have a pegbox like this one. You can see the story of this instrument, and the engraving on which it is based, at: luteshop.co.uk/projects/violadamano/

    This is a VIHUELA da mano isn't it?

      It's a vihuela de mano in Spanish and a viola da mano in Italian. This one is based on an Italian engraving.
