  • In making this video I have used these optical instruments :
Sky 120ED DS Pro Apochromatic Schott Optical Glass Refractor Telescope.
    Baader Q-Turret rotating eyepiece holder.
    SVBONY SV215 1.25" 3mm-8mm Planetary Zoom Eyepiece.
    BST Starguider ED 8mm eyepiece.
    Takahashi EMC LE 7.5mm eyepiece.
SVBony 20mm Aspheric eyepiece used as finder eyepiece.
Huawei P30 Pro mobile phone camera.
I bought the SVBony 3-8mm zoom from seamless_solutions (4948) In ebay:

Thank you very much for showing the examples at different millimeters all the other videos have somebody talking and talking and talking like they're going for an edition for a movie part, Appreciate the examples of a different magnifications.

You're very welcome! That is my style. I don't think a video should be showing a person just talking, otherwise they should call it a podcast.

    Parabéns pelo video 👏👏👏
Tenho um telescópio bem simples, o Svbony SV48P 500mm 90mm, voce acha que essa lente serve para ele ou é melhor outro modelo? Obrigado

I have the OpticStar AR90S 90mm F500mm Refractor Telescope which is very similar to that svbony telescope. It is a short compact telescope and very capable of showing lots of objects in the night sky. In my video about it I have said it is almost equal to having an 8 inch (20cm) Newtonian reflector telescope. It is a good one! Please watch my video : "Amazing OpticStar AR90S 90mm F500mm Refractor Telescope, Unboxing, Use, Review, Imaging".

I got Tele Vue Delos 4.5mm as my high magnification for my 14" F/4.6 Dobsonian. With this I'm getting 366x ...what do think about pushing the power all the way to 550x with a ES 3mm .... theoretically I'm still way below the theoretical limit of 2xAperture or 50x per inch of aperture. Of course I'm planning to use this magnification for Jupiter, Saturn and Mars! Will I see loose a lot of details pumping up the magnification?

I think you can still use more magnification, but probably your best result would be with an Orthoscopic or at least a 110° eyepiece like Myriad. I have used 3.5mm Myriad on f/5 Dobsonian. Having said that, the telescope must be well collimated for planetary details otherwise a refractor will be better.

Hi Dr! I also have both BTS Starguider 8mm and the Svbony zoom. I want to keep my collection minimalist, so I want to sell one of them. Would you just keep the Svbony 3-8mm zoom and sell the BST Starguider 8mm? Thank you!

Definitely, I will keep the Svbony 3-8mm zoom if I have to have only one planetary eyepiece. It is a gem. That is all you need, even in a large Dobsonian.

@@TheAstronomer yeah, my main telescope is a 12" f/5 dob. I should have said it before. I also have a small 5" tabletop dob, also f/5. I think the range of the svbony is perfect for planets and the moon on both of them.
