- In January 2020 Amelia (7 years old at the time) was able to become a USAF Thunderbird pilot for a day by shadowing Major Michelle "Mace" Curran. Part 3 of this series is Amelia going to SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) training, learning what the supply office does for the team, and being fitted for a G-suit, vest and helmet that the Thunderbirds wear for every flight.
...funny to me that even her younger sisters are super interested in everything happening here, yet giving Amelia space to make the day hers. They're just so well brought up- no crying, no tantrums.
It is so amazing that the USAF Thunderbirds did this for Amelia and her family.
They're taking the moment as a joke, She ain't. Amelia is taking everything in like it's her first day on the job. And that's what I love about this clip. She has real seriousness of purpose. Watch out world, Here comes Captain Amelia one day.

In 1974 I and 7 other Cub Scouts did something very close to her experience. They did this for us only because we asked. They were kind and generous, they flew f-4s and the new T-38, different than now. The pilots and host seem to be as excited to have us as we were to be there. I will never forget when they let us sit in an actual F-4 that I believe may have been retired and was used specifically for kids to sit in. Good times for a 8 year old.
I came across this yesterday. Watched it all up to here. This kid is going to be a great pilot. It is fantastic how you can inspire young people. I once had a check ride and a young man, about 20 was visiting the flight school to see about learning to fly. If you are current and competent a check ride is no big deal. Anyway, I was talking to him over coffee before my flight and asked if he would like to come up with us. It was a 206 so one more passenger was not a big deal. We were out for about 45 minutes. When we landed he tried to give me fifty pounds as payment. I said no, my employer paid for the flight get yourself a beer later. I'm pretty sure that experience inspired him to fly.

I hope to see a picture of her 20 years from now in a real Thunderbird flight suit next to the picture of her they took when she put the G-suit, helmet, and O2 mask on. GO AMELIA!

Wonder if she'll make it as a F16 pilot, trouble is you need to be super clever, and almost gifted with a natural ability to understand technical aspects, spatial awareness, and almost a genetic gift for it, the highest brain to vision to hand coordination a human can possibly have........it's tough to become a Top Gun for anyone no matter who passionate you are, only about 1 in 100 Top Gun F16 pilots make it to display level! Your talking about the very best of the best! But she's started super young so she'll defo have an advantage. At the very least she's gonna have a career in the Air Force some day.❤️🙏

Something tells me if she applies herself I can see her actually graduating from Colorado Springs the drive is there all she needs now is the education and the experience
