If you had significant amounts of money tied to CS in cases or skins you would draw sell them to get your money back just in case valve would decide to shut that down, which if enough people do it, it could collapse the entire economy of that game, lowering revenue from other games with similar economies or even collapsing economies of those games. Highly unlikely for it to really take big effect on other games economies but it has that small chance, it's up to valve to decide if they want to take that risk. My biggest hope rests in the idea that faith in their new release will be diminished due to their treatment of their previous projects (TF2). 100% agree with you here Zealot. i was extremely disappointed that the fixTF2 movement's big plan for trying to get valve to fix the game was a petition. . . which are universally known to not work (Sounds like a certain anti-cheat in 2 Valve created games IMO). and i don't know why we'd hesitate to pull out all the stops with a mass boycott either, especially a combined effort from the CS2 community since they're dealing with the same problems and boycotting Valve's new FPS (Which is assured to be riddled with cheaters day one cause VAC doesn't work), and i don't think these boycotts should stop until we make Valve promises to make any and all funds made via TF2 and CS2 go into their continued development.
That would be one of the most stupidest descisions for a company to shut down a game while a petition to save the game with thousands of signatures exist
You have a great idea, working with the Counterstrike community would be a win win situation for the Team Fortress 2 and Counterstike communities and seriously get Valve's attention. We should go foreword with this idea, no reason to pull any punches.
I like the idea, But I think I have a slightly better idea for the message, if we send the message that the boycott will continue until valve promises that all generated profits from TF2 will go towards it's development, instead of asking them to fix it, then we have a much better shot at having it get fixed. First of all, it's a clear solution, instead of somehow solving the bot crisis, they'll just hire some company to do it for them, while I understand that this is the most likely solution anyways, I think that if we put emphasis on it exclusively being the TF2 profit they're more likely to act, as they'll know that it the "unlimited complex treadmill work" won't dig into any of valves other profit streams, with the entire profit of TF2 they'll surely be able to do much more than the current contractor. And finally, it'll only be profitable for them, if we manage to decrease their profit by something like 25% or 50% and drive them to accept this commitment, then they'll be able to have their full, normal profit go towards developing and fixing TF2 before they can later declare that it's fixed and start pocketing the profits again, and as a bonus it'd be good PR.

Valve knows exactly what is happening but they probably are doing nothing because of their alleged leaked game called Deadlock (overwatch clone), Valve might think Deadlock will make people completely forget about TF2. If Valve treats us horribly they should expect to be treated similarly from us.
Genuinely with how this is an issue in both games, with CS2 fans even more upset at Deadlock's existence than us TF2 fans, I feel like a joint Valve community effort as a whole makes sense to organize. I'm sure other communities for other Valve games would be willing to support, besides maybe the DOTA fans as for the most part the hardcore DOTA fans from what I've seen have been the primary ones making fun of Save and Fix TF2 and that we're all wrong about Deadlock going to suffer a bot/cheater problem within its early life since it too uses VAC.

Honestly, I think a boycott isn't going to stop the bots from playing. One of the dark possibilities I'd considered, since details about the Banana game issue came out, is that Valve isn't going to do anything about the bot problem because they're benefiting from it, financially.

What we REALLY need to do is prove to Valve that we have people who will work and do the "treadmill" work for tf2's anticheat, we need to have some people who are willing to do this, please spread this.... This is the only solution I see. Valve doesn't want to do anything. We have to do it for them, for our own game. Valve has no reason to not support this, it would make tf2 better and more playable meaning more money for Valve.
TBF, VAC is in such deep shiße that we might actually need a team of 200 devs to get it working before the end of the year in a way that doesn't feel rigged. If Valve IS doing something to fix the bots, it would likely be sneakily updating VAC or making a new anticheat. Only way we would know is if someone hacked into the servers.
Cs is about to have an operation in like a week or two and its coming with vac updates wich will passify them enough to not take a swing at valve. Vac is not the same from s1 to s2.

This is a good way to make Valve cut ties with TF2 which will just bring more people to community servers which is better than what we have now. Valve does not care about a 17 year old game, Valve does not care about E-Celebs, Valve cares about making hardware, new genre defining games and a lot of money from selling other people's games.

No, do not just settle for one game or two; anybody who is a part of either TF2 or CS:GO needs to think bigger; the boycott should apply to all games, but from only members of those two communities; they should stop giving Valve money, period. The pain needs to be bad enough for them to care about it. A boycott on just one or two games won't cut it as they're already making a new game-Dead something, I forgot what they called it. What Bot-Hosts and scammers are doing is not only dishonorable but also potentially dangerous to Steam's consumer base; Valve is just watching them casually commit crimes using their platform. Last I checked, theft of anything, doxxing, DDoSing, and Swatting are all *criminal offenses,* and this account trading and racketeering operation stretches farther than just TF2 and CS: GO. This is deeply rooted inside of Steam itself. It might have eluded Valve's notice, but Swatting can kill-it already has. That's terrible for business; I thought business was their thing or something. I don't want to sound like a asshole or anything but Getting the CS2 Community is a long shot to get them to join the TF2 riot. Cause there are lots of things that CS2 has that make a huge impact that Valve will listen to compare to the many bugs and bots of a 2007 game that is close to being 20 years old. And if I am correct about this. TF2 is run on a older model than CS2 and so it could be slightly harder to work on it and same goes to the VAC approved servers. They are pretty much bot dictators who will vote kick players or even permanently ban accounts Like me for example. I have my TF2 account banned all because a sniper bot reported me of CP after I started playing on it 10 minutes after the tutorial. I knew there were players kept on trying to defend me but there were 8 sniper bots who kept spamming in the chat "Love Minors? Enjoy abuse? Enjoy CP? Come click on the link down below!" and everyone was disgusted by it and I was banned soon after because of bot majority. So yeah. I don't think they will care at all. It would encourage them to just say "We hear you!" and stay silent for absolute reason.

Yeah, i think they won't be addressing this thing in a several months, and if it won't escalate, they will just continue ignoring it like it doesn't exist. They clearly don't want supporting tf2 anymore, and i doubt people would be able to make them do anything. The company is just too big and too determined in their business decisions. An idea that came to me related to boycotting but I'm not sure it's good is boycotting ALL of steam like no purchases at all on steam or related to it probably not gonna work and I feel like the worst case scenario I feel they will give us the middle finger and like tf2 off of steam or like shut down it's servers and an idea I saw I think on the subreddit is that they at least hire a minimum wage team to manually ban the bots the reasoning behind it is the bots are already a cost without profit for the hosters the accounts get banned no way they have enough stolen steam accounts and money to keep this damned operation of botting up and they will just stop because of the significant financial R##ing they will be getting if they kept it up

So people saying "valve would shut the game down" are just straight up wrong for multiple reasons:
Valve will lose more money in the long run
The CS and DOTA Economies will almost collapse due to the impact TF2 has to other valve's moneymakers
So if we, The TF2 community can unite with the CS community and boycott together, Valve's revenue will be hurt so much and their reputaion too in the long run

100% agree with you here Zealot. i was extremely disappointed that the fixTF2 movement's big plan for trying to get valve to fix the game was a petition. . . which are universally known to not work (Sounds like a certain anti-cheat in 2 Valve created games IMO). and i don't know why we'd hesitate to pull out all the stops with a mass boycott either, especially a combined effort from the CS2 community since they're dealing with the same problems and boycotting Valve's new FPS (Which is assured to be riddled with cheaters day one cause VAC doesn't work), and i don't think these boycotts should stop until we make Valve promises to make any and all funds made via TF2 and CS2 go into their continued development.

You have a great idea, working with the Counterstrike community would be a win win situation for the Team Fortress 2 and Counterstike communities and seriously get Valve's attention. We should go foreword with this idea, no reason to pull any punches.
I like the idea, But I think I have a slightly better idea for the message, if we send the message that the boycott will continue until valve promises that all generated profits from TF2 will go towards it's development, instead of asking them to fix it, then we have a much better shot at having it get fixed.
First of all, it's a clear solution, instead of somehow solving the bot crisis, they'll just hire some company to do it for them, while I understand that this is the most likely solution anyways, I think that if we put emphasis on it exclusively being the TF2 profit they're more likely to act, as they'll know that it the "unlimited complex treadmill work" won't dig into any of valves other profit streams, with the entire profit of TF2 they'll surely be able to do much more than the current contractor.
And finally, it'll only be profitable for them, if we manage to decrease their profit by something like 25% or 50% and drive them to accept this commitment, then they'll be able to have their full, normal profit go towards developing and fixing TF2 before they can later declare that it's fixed and start pocketing the profits again, and as a bonus it'd be good PR.

This is because if Valve ignores about 9,300 papers filled with signatures and it hits The News, it would be a fecking field day. That would be a feast for video game reporters and then some. But I do see your point. If it was *JUST* the petition and nothing else, this would totally fail to be honest. Like this would be futile in every way, but because the boycott is here, I think both are a great addition. Bad PR and a loss in money? Along with a game that'll die in like 2 months? It's a dream come true. But I won't kid myself, it's not 100% guaranteed. So for now I'll just sit back and hope.

Valve knows exactly what is happening but they probably are doing nothing because of their alleged leaked game called Deadlock (overwatch clone), Valve might think Deadlock will make people completely forget about TF2. If Valve treats us horribly they should expect to be treated similarly from us.

Genuinely with how this is an issue in both games, with CS2 fans even more upset at Deadlock's existence than us TF2 fans, I feel like a joint Valve community effort as a whole makes sense to organize.
I'm sure other communities for other Valve games would be willing to support, besides maybe the DOTA fans as for the most part the hardcore DOTA fans from what I've seen have been the primary ones making fun of Save and Fix TF2 and that we're all wrong about Deadlock going to suffer a bot/cheater problem within its early life since it too uses VAC.

One of the dark possibilities I'd considered, since details about the Banana game issue came out, is that Valve isn't going to do anything about the bot problem because they're benefiting from it, financially.

What we REALLY need to do is prove to Valve that we have people who will work and do the "treadmill" work for tf2's anticheat, we need to have some people who are willing to do this, please spread this.... This is the only solution I see. Valve doesn't want to do anything. We have to do it for them, for our own game. Valve has no reason to not support this, it would make tf2 better and more playable meaning more money for Valve.
TBF, VAC is in such deep shiße that we might actually need a team of 200 devs to get it working before the end of the year in a way that doesn't feel rigged. If Valve IS doing something to fix the bots, it would likely be sneakily updating VAC or making a new anticheat. Only way we would know is if someone hacked into the servers.
Cs is about to have an operation in like a week or two and its coming with vac updates wich will passify them enough to not take a swing at valve.
Vac is not the same from s1 to s2.

Valve will just sunset the game and the economy will crash, and we can go back to playing community servers again. Valve won't keep the TF2 economy going to prove they won't crash the CSGO one because no one really cares, or plays TF2. CSGO players won't even notice. This is a good way to make Valve cut ties with TF2 which will just bring more people to community servers which is better than what we have now. The worst case and most likely scenario here is still an upgrade.

No, do not just settle for one game or two; anybody who is a part of either TF2 or CS:GO needs to think bigger; the boycott should apply to all games, but from only members of those two communities; they should stop giving Valve money, period. The pain needs to be bad enough for them to care about it. A boycott on just one or two games won't cut it as they're already making a new game-Dead something, I forgot what they called it.
What Bot-Hosts and scammers are doing is not only dishonorable but also potentially dangerous to Steam's consumer base; Valve is just watching them casually commit crimes using their platform. Last I checked, theft of anything, doxxing, DDoSing, and Swatting are all *criminal offenses,* and this account trading and racketeering operation stretches farther than just TF2 and CS: GO. This is deeply rooted inside of Steam itself.
It might have eluded Valve's notice, but Swatting can kill-it already has. That's terrible for business; I thought business was their thing or something.

I really hate that sentiment. The bot situation hasn't gotten any better, but that doesn't mean Valve hasn't done anything. Trying to stop the bots is a near impossible task that would either stop legitimate players from playing, be completely ineffectual, or some combination of the two.
For example, let's say I am sick with a cold. Over the next few days, I get worse. Does that mean "I am not doing anything" to ease my symptoms? The answer, of course, is you can't know. All you can see is the end result, that of my symptoms getting worse, which provides no information about my actual process.
I don't want to sound like a asshole or anything but Getting the CS2 Community is a long shot to get them to join the TF2 riot. Cause there are lots of things that CS2 has that make a huge impact that Valve will listen to compare to the many bugs and bots of a 2007 game that is close to being 20 years old. And if I am correct about this. TF2 is run on a older model than CS2 and so it could be slightly harder to work on it and same goes to the VAC approved servers. They are pretty much bot dictators who will vote kick players or even permanently ban accounts Like me for example. I have my TF2 account banned all because a sniper bot reported me of CP after I started playing on it 10 minutes after the tutorial. I knew there were players kept on trying to defend me but there were 8 sniper bots who kept spamming in the chat "Love Minors? Enjoy abuse? Enjoy CP? Come click on the link down below!" and everyone was disgusted by it and I was banned soon after because of bot majority. So yeah. I don't think they will care at all. It would encourage them to just say "We hear you!" and stay silent for absolute reason.
