This is song is a tribute to the five native American tribes who died during the trail of tears and I feel sorry for those tribes, may their souls rest peacefully in the presence of the great spirit.
I am part Metis and Cree Ancestry. Same kinds of events like the trail of tears occurred here in Canada as well. Only in the past few years have I really become aware of my Ancestry. I long walked a road not really knowing who I was. But this has changed now. And though on the outside I appear more white than Indigenous, my heart is and will always be Native.
Adopted at birth my Cherokee herritage was kept from me. Ashamed of my true being my adoptive parents hid this until I was in my late teens. I traveled the typical lost highway searching for my being and a sense of belonging. My despair nearly ended my life until I found my way home. A small band of my tribe was relocated and lost on the trail and wound up on a mixed reservation in Minnesotta. I was born on the reservation. This summer I will retrace my ancestors footsteps and walk the trail of tears where allowed. Thankyou Blackie and may the great creator bless us all- Standing Bear
This song has significant meaning for me. I am part Cherokee, and I just found out my niece's husband's great grandmother was on the Trail of Tears. This song is beautifully written and performed.
native pride and a lot of respect for our elders and ancestors who have gone through a lot in our history. may they never be forgotten. native pride and humbleness.
Love WASP and this song.. Thank you for making this video. I'm Native American here. Lenape tribe. Never be ashamed of who You are!! Teach this to your children so they know what truly happened to My ancestors.. #NeverForget.. #ProudToBeLenape!!
The Trail of Tears was, without a doubt, one of the darkest chapters in American history. It would be so easy to say we're better than that now, but history has a nasty habit of repeating itself. Mankind will always find an excuse to inflict atrocities upon one another. Don't fall into the trap of "It could never happen nowadays". Stay vigilant, folks, and keep your leaders accountable, lest this atrocity EVER be allowed to happen again.
Thank you for posting this great song. The imaging that you used fits the song perfectly. As someone who is part Cherokee and proud of my heritage, Thank you.
I have great respect for the people who were here in this land, before we came in a screwed it up!! There was no greed, just used only what you needed and treated this earth with care and respect! We have forgotten how to do that!
i love u Blackie Lawless u rock and I hope u guys come to hershey pa for a concert and My dad and I love your guyes music and it really does rock and I have 2 of your guys cds
Ok, I understand - but my favorite tribe is the Apaches. :D And of course, I could not understand your traditions - but I truly like and sympathize with Native Americans.
darling darlene snyder Ok, I still understand. But when I heard this song first, I imagined several massacred Native Americans, not just one tribe. And we all know that the Apaches were the most rebeollious people in North America with the leader Geronimo. And this song awakens the spirit of them in me whether it is about Cherokees or not. I'm with the rebels and they were right and they foguth for their freedom. This song means the elegy of their battle. This song reminds me of the sad but glorious fight against the white oppressors. So that's why I wrote 'Long live the Apaches!', because it makes me think about them and their tragic fate as well. However, I love Cherokee at least as I know them from other mediums. So, I didn't mean to offend any tribe. I give my respect all of the Native Americans who fought and who still live nowadays.
1st nation people are the most disenfranchised and forgotten of all Americans. Even now they still suffer. The disappearance of woman is epidemic but it gets next to no press. :(
native here don't wanna be born again just wanna fade with the light . the world is two ugly it hurts my eye's . if I must be born again place me in the Ocean even a fish would be more of a blessing . have a blessed day everyone . try to avoid the trials of tears .
Is my destiny fixed upon on the stars , Cherokee and all live upon the stars and in my heart and souls forever.im part Blackfoot and this song relates to all us tribes are ancestors suffered
my dear bros this drums hit me everytime i listen to this song. so powerfull. gives me goosbumps everytime. does anyone know if this is shamanic drum or normal drum??
It’s all been seen good in Gods eyes who am I to define bad or evil or judge my neighbor who has many given names as do I none chosen by me all faulted unjust accusation I have no enemy you that seems to think you have to fight knowledge I give to you you will not prosper in the end claim your victory and rewards you can own the world yet what you give up and loose I promise you it’s not worth ownership of what you never truly is or will be anyone’s place to own for it was saved freely given to be part of her creation not own her
So many people claiming Cherokee heritage but only 1 in 100 of them actually have Cherokee ancestry. The Cherokee are trying to stop this false self identification. Why don't people actually do the geneology anf find out for certain if they have Cherokee ancestry or not? Family stories are mistaken 99% of the time.
myself I am not native american but i'd like to apologize to all the awesome native american people i've met over the years you guys always made me laugh such nice people what that asshole Andrew Jackson did to you guys wasn't necessary it was a senseless act by him
