That winch was rode hard andput away wet. Time for some cable lube and a respool to make it ready for action. Not sure what lube is good for sand and water, something that dries to touch. Bicycle chain lube might work.
Have not used a Harbor Freight Winch in past but have not heard anything good about them to date. I would hope with the issue's that are posted on UA-cam that they will make them a lot tougher!
I have two badlands 12k lb winches with remote controls. They have not let me down yet, knock on wood. Mostly short pulls. Don't think they like long hard pulls. Probably don't like salt water ether.
That's known as social security beach. If you keep going left you'll run into the south jetty, which separates the Columbia River from the ocean. You're technically still on the river where you shot the video, but it feels like the ocean.
I follow a couple other off road recovery you-tubers who have nothing but glowing reviews of their Badlands winches. I wonder what happened with yours.
