    I'm so happy I found you. I recently finishes a hexi quilt for my queen sized bed, if only I saw your video on how to make hexis. I didn't know that you could go through the card board when you basted. That was the hardest part otherwise the quilt turned out great but the hexis make me crazy. I tried glueing and basting but not through the cardboard. I must have watched a dozen videos on how to make a hexi quilt and no one mentioned going through the cardboard. I made a few using your method and they are so much neater and a whole lot easier to make. Now, I am going to make a hexi quilt for a young girl I used to babysit for, she's getting married next year. I swore I'd never make another till I saw your video. I wanted you to know I appreciated your video and signed up for future videos. Right now, I have to binge watch the rest of your videos. Thank you so much!

    This idea of hexies is absolutely the greatest. I've been searching for something easy and beautiful that our ladies sewing group could do and I think hexies will work out extremely well. They can work at them at home and when we have our get-togethers we can begin to put them together into all kinds of crafty ideas. Thanks so much.

    I just love your channel! Every video you make has such clear instructions, and your fabric choices are always so cute. It just makes me want to do whatever you are doing! I never thought EPP would be something I could do, but after watching this video I now feel like I could. Thank you!

    I just really fell in love with quilting at 65 yrs old! (here in the U.S.) Now that Im retired its giving me something to get excited about - and very satisfying when you have a finished project. Being so young, by the time you're my age you will be a super duper expert level 10!! Thanks Amanda you make it SO easy to understand for newbies like me. 😀

    I love hexies! I just bought a 10 in half hexi ruler. I've got to get a little one now. The Bain of my existence is a floppy purse. It would take a while but I think this would make the cutest purse! I've been making quilted cardboard inserts but those are too cute not too try. Thanks for sharing.

    I just got started with you videos, and with hexies. I made a white pillow and appliqued some hexies on it in a nice diamond shape. It turned out really cute. I think my daughter is going to want it! LOL Anyway, thank you for all your tutorials. They are great and so helpful. Hexies are great for me cause I have some pain issues where I have days that I cannot sit at my machine. Now I have handwork to do, so it keeps me productive and happy. I really iike hexies, and, it is true, they are addicting.

      Marguerite Farrell Yay! It's great to know that you've fallen in love with making hexies! They have to be one the best handwork crafts to do! The creative possibilities are endless!
      I'm honoured to have been able to help you out and give you an alternative form of sewing to become addicted too!! :D Happy Sitiching!!

      I use a no.7 embroidery needle. They have a great eye size and are pretty robust for most projects. 😊

    Amanda, I am new to hexie's. When do you remove the cardboard?

    • @jillsauder8340
      @jillsauder8340 5 років тому

      You remove the cardboard from a hexie after all its sides are completely sewn to other hexies.

    Just found you, a friend was making these and I fell in love. When you measure 2 and 1/2 in that's side to side correct? I don't have a pattern so I'm making one. Thanks so much for this video. On to watching the others and going to be a new subie.💜

      A hexie is measured by how long each flat side is (rather than its diameter).

  • @snowbird62869
    @snowbird62869 9 років тому

    What size needle do you use? I want to make sure it goes through the card without difficulty.

    • @AmandaRolfe
      @AmandaRolfe  9 років тому

      snowbird62869 I always use a size no.7 embroidery needle. I find that the eye is bigger enough for most threads to go through and that the length and strength of the needle is perfect for most projects.

    What is the brand name of your orange hexie templates? I'd like to purchase them.

    • @AmandaRolfe
      @AmandaRolfe  10 років тому

      The templates I show and use are from the brand Sew Easy. This particular set is called a '9 Piece Hexagon Template Set' and I bought it from my local Spotlight for around $20.

    How do you remove the cardboard and when?

  • @alicechristian9034
    @alicechristian9034 6 років тому

    Beautiful, at what stage do you remove the cardboard or it stays in the hexagon

    • @AmandaRolfe
      @AmandaRolfe  6 років тому +1

      Once you've sewn all of your hexies together into a flower or design, you take out the basting stitches and then the cardboard.
      I show this stage in this Hexie Flower Quilt Label tutorial if you're interested: ua-cam.com/video/joYCkbHIK3g/v-deo.html
