A good dino that isn't the biggest but is still good is the Lambeo a lot of people underestimate how much damage the tailwip can do the medium and small dinos
I started off with concavenator when I was adolescent I ran into a rex the same age as me and some how killed it. I then killed lots more things I eventually ran into a fully grown metri and won a fight with it so my starter dinosaur developed in to an apex predator I also scared a suchomimus fully grown out of its own territory
If I were to recommend anything else it would be pachycephalosaurus because it has decent health and can kill other things pretty easy I would also recommend suchomimus because of it's strength and survival mine took on 2 megalania another suchomimus and ran away and survived a huge mixpack while it was low and out of stamina containing an adult spinosaurus and styra and thallas and Campto and escaped into the water it also took on an adolescent spinosaurus around the same size of it when my suchomimus was a sub adult
I just started on single-player yesterday to learn the mechanics first. Thank you for the tips! The metabolism one will save my life as a growing Amargasaurus (I was determined to start as my fav but a speedier dino would def have helped for a newcomer).
The very first dinosaur I played when I started yesterday was the Camptosaurus, small, very agile, and high in stamina at the cost of any sort of defense So far I have never died as dodging danger is quite easy
Just finished my first session, t'was fun! I suspect it's rare but a fully grown allo and Rex ignored me as a juvenile Allo, altho somehow trikes saw me from half the map and killed me twice, same group lol What a fun game PoT seems to be
I'm a little obsessive over dinosaurs,( I'm neurodiverse) so I think I have a hard time because I refuse to use the chat bar at all and attempt to just communicate through the sound wheel (even though some roar, which is odd). I just loose immersion so much over, "that's ya boi" silly stuff I can't do it😂 hopefully my odd is embraced by someone to start a herd.
Hey that's fine. I met an adult laten when I was a baby Rex and she added me to a group and helped me quest. We never said a word to each other and just communicated through our dinos and that was the best experience I've ever had in this game. She was so nice to me and we never had to speak
I also play the game like this, and I'm neurotypical. Idk if you being neurodivergent has anything to do with wanting to feel immersed and play the game how *you* wanna play it.
another good tip if your being chased by say...Allos as a Alio or Raptor. Use cliffs, aka ligit run off them, youll take a heck of a lot less fall damge then them if there not simmlarly sized. That said, Allo, From my experance has the worst fall damage, even Sucos take less fall damage from the same fall then an allo, so this tactic doesnt work with allos XD. edit, i got away from a juvi allo useing this tactic as a juvi raptor, he was gaining becuse he had more growth and i just jumped off a cliff, lost about 1/10th of my health but had he followed he would of died and by the time he found his way down i was long gone. I rember turning and seeing him looking over the edge and thinking "you try following i get a free meal, mate."
I use this also as a metri, can’t tell you how many times I have been chased by Agro Styr’s. I simply jump off a cliff and usually they follow and die do to fall damage lol!
Hate the diet system. 1) The old diet system will let you eat everything. For example, Sarco used to eat clams. 2) Deinocheirus and Struthi only eat one particular diet. Which kills the whole concept of being omnivores because these 2 dinos are omnivores.
@@ChairmanMeowNZ Yeah, but I don't want to. Faster food and water drain is a pain in the ass. I don't want to go back to HC and switch for nothing. Just switch on the spot without resting.
For me even when I’m in the deathmatch server I just talk to herbs via that chat. (I love playing as carnivores) And we help eachother by remembering our locations and running back
I was finally able to get the game on my Xbox and play it again. I’m a herbivore player so I chose styra as my beginning dino. I’m also a generally passive player. I don’t fight unless I really have to and even then I don’t chase down another player unless they are causing issues. I’ve been having fun so far, even with the horrifying near death experiences as a juvi.
Yo same, started yesterday with my own Styracosaurus. Been playing passively, have gotten killed a lot by carnivores (and an anky), but did manage to kill a raptor that was attacking me, despite being a hatchling. Glad to see that I am not the only person to gravitate towards the crackhead ceratopsian right away.
Just gonna leave this here: A speed Allo with the speed hide is crazy fast and can outrun anything big enough to actually pose a threat to it (except another double speed Allo).
My best tip is to make progress and grow, stay away from the center of the map. That’s where everyone is. Do quests and grow on the outer edges, then go to the center when you’re grown.
I just started playing on xbox and play on official servers and you can't change metabolism unless you go into a cave..I'm guessing community servers are where that's allowed? Sorry im a noob still
I think the fact this game has a global text chat absolutely ruins its potential. people can shame you for fighting them and call for help from randoms on the server. it has the same vibes as ark or V-rising where the game is meant to have pvp, but attacking people is somehow taboo because they can complain in chat and get others to come help them or share in their pity and shame you
Ive been really tempted by this game. I have alwasy loved rpg pvp games. I guess im concerned about activity, as well as what the variety of playable dinos are. And even if there is a wide variety, what incentive is there to just not play as a badass t rex and kill everything. Playing herbavores sounds pretty boring at first. Do you just eat leafs till adulthood tgen just keep eating leafs? Idk, need to learn more
Sucho is a pretty good Dino and mostly a hit and run Dino with it’s bleed. Just remember not to spam bleed and do some bites and tail damage. Also sucho claws attack sideways not in front of you so do some sideways hit and runs.
One more tip. If you are in the fight that you can't win like solo Rex vs 4 Rexes. Jump of the cliff or drown. Will loose significantly less xp, than just dying in combat.
Never trust a Pachy No one is your friend even when they're in your group. [Some will betray you if they're starving as a carni, Herbi will just do it for fun sometimes] Impact Crater, Great Plains, Young grove, Green Hills & Titans pass are Hot spots for players so be alert. Pteradactyls like to fly above players and call out to attract other players to kill you for food, same goes for small raptor players. Just move from the area as quick as you can. Talking in the chat makes your dino call out & make noise which attracts attention. Don't get so distracted typing you forget to check your surroundings. On that same note if you're going to go AFK either log out, find a cave to sit in or pick a good hiding spot. This is a survival game & there is no time out. Dont get mad bcuz someone found you afk in the middle of an open field & klled you bcuz you thought it was safe to grab a snac or take a dump. Refilling water quests & Waystone glowmushroom quest take a long time so avoid them for quicker growth. If its the only quest you have left just move on to a different area. They really arent that worth it. Now when youre full grown I say do them bcuz they pay the most coins for skins.

Another tip DONT TRUST HERBIVORES especially trikes. Even if it’s your closest friend😢
I was like 2 chunks of the xp bar away from adult and a group helped me grow and as soon as I hit adult they killed me for my trophy lol
The metabolism switching is the best for survivability, my friend taught me that and it increased my survival drastically.
Rip to this trick, it wasn't even mentioned in the patch notes either. "You must be in a home cave to edit your abilities"
