I love this longines product it s reliable caliber with outstanding look. You should envision this watch with a nice shirt and then people just say waoo it s great look on you
🙌👍👍👍
In some ways, the face of the Longines looks more interesting to me. Both are great watches--the Longines provides tremendous value for the money. Rolex watches are iconic, and although they are expensive, they hold their value extremely well. Some would say they are great investments!
That could be an AI comment
I think it's fantastic.. lovely timepieces, one an entry level luxury piece, one the king. Longines can sit in any room and fit in just fine 🤙🏻
Absolutely my friend! 😃👍👍👍
If you sum up the watch you have the brand the look the caliber and it s just great for the price you buy it
Dont have a Longines yet and was looking at a blue Sub Mariner, then saw this one and pulled the trigger earlier today on it. You can't beat the value for sure.
Well you can actually purchase a Longines.
I really like this particular model. Love it, I’m so very close to buying one.
Sorry for the delay in replying my friend - I say go for it! 😃👍
@@SirWatchGeek no worries, buddy. I’m a little torn as I’ve come across a Hamilton khaki aviation pilot day date (the interstellar version) and have fallen in lust with it. Lol I think I need a lottery win!
All the best and thanks for the reply. 👍🏻⏱
Fantastic video Nigel, always happy to see each and every one you produce. This Longines is certainly a lovely watch, and certainly a great quality piece for a much more affordable price point... well done buddy 👏 👍 🙌
Thanks as usual Rafael! Have a great day my friend 😃👍
Very pretty watch! Love the design and price point. Not crazy about the two tone but still very good-looking watch.⌚
Great video and production quality. Keep it up and thank you for all the efforts!
Thank you Jonas - that’s really kind of you to say! 😊🙏
Great review! New subscriber. Nice to see someone else using caution in the “danger zone” as I always set the date at 6. Great review. About to pick one up.
Hey Joe! thanks very much my friend. I subscribed to you a while back - but I've got a lot of catching up to do! 😄 Hope you enjoy the Longines, and look forward to seeing what you think of it 😀👍
@@SirWatchGeek no worries. As soon as I was done writing, I realized I was already subbed as well. 😂
you mean the time?
What a nice review! So entertaining! Great comparison too! The Longines is a very nice piece of piece of kit! I have one myself ... got it as a replacement for my Omega when it was being refurbished 28 it took weeks!!
I quite like the 12-6-9 indeces. In person these are great and have a unique design language
Fair solid review old sport. Personally I think it best the Rolex but that’s just my opinion.
Great watch for good price! Agree with you, sir
Really nice review! I think this is going to be my very first lux watch ❤
Thanks Fabiano! Enjoy!
I do choose that Longines over the Rolex any day.
I say this to everyone. If you want a starter budget diver you pick from the Breitling SO2, the aquaracer, the marinemaster 300, the black bay and some used alternatives are the omega smp300 and the SO heritage.
Nice watch!!!Planning to buy it since long time. Hope soonest. Nice reviw as usual buddy. Ciao!!!
Hi Leandro! Thank for your kind words my friend. I hope you are able to get one soon 🤞.
Ciao!!! 😃👍
Awesome review SWG!
I’ve looked at the Conquest and the Hydroconquest quite a few times as they’re from a great brand that is right in my price range but for me the date window combined with the larger 12, 6 and 9 makes the dial look a little unbalanced. As it goes I personally went with Oris but Longines came really close.
Thanks Gareth! Personally, I think you made the right decision with Oris! I'm the same as you regarding the dial being unbalanced, and this is where it purely comes down to personal choice I guess!
Take care my friend 😃👍
I agree, which is why I modded mine with a date magnifying bubble and honestly it makes the watch completely symmetrical 😉👌
@@huzidamasta hey I just bought the Hydro and am considering adding a cyclops...any chance you can send me a message and maybe you can email me a picture of what your modded watch looks like?
@@SirWatchGeek it's better than the overpriced bluesy 😎👍
A fantastic watch, had the 43mm on my rather small wrist, not expecting it to fit that nicely! Gonna buy it in about 4 weeks.
I would never go for the gold ones with the pvd-coating, it will come off over time, that is for 100% sure, so i choose metal braclet and the rubber additional for summer. I cannot recommend the pvd coating at all.
Loved the Clarkson imitation 😂 The watch is not really for me although I’m kinda attracted to some Longines models.
Thanks Maarten! Yeah - I'm with you there. Just something about them (some of them) that isn't quite there 😄👍
This seems like the kind of watch Jeremy Clarkson would regard as the absolute tits.
That is not an endorsement btw.
Great review, and of very few dare comparing R. and Longines :) :P We can really see the size difference. That's why I probably will get (after viewing 41mm in person) the new 39mm, which I think is more submariner-like size, without stealing the design ;)
Thanks mate! Yeah - I agree with you on the 39mm 👍
Just discovered your channel and loving your videos. Subscribed! :-)
In your opinion, is this Longines worth the price or is the much much cheaper Certina DS Action Diver that you reviewed in 2020 good enough? Certina DS also has a blue with two tone bracelet and is half the price.
Hi John! Thanks very much for your kind words sir. In my view - it's the Certina all day long. I'm wearing my DS Action Diver today actually, and after not wearing it for a while, I'd forgotten just how amazing it is! 😀👍
Well done fella another honest review as you know I do love a diver the Longines brand is a brand that I often look at, I am very taken with the Longines Evidenza,
Nigel please keep it with the Rolex thing I love it .
I love the Rolex Daytona a proper watch I reckon? and you have some belters so good for you I do mean that.
However I just do not understand the snobbery around Rolex they make great watches hands up they do, but so do many more companies even Timex who make a lovely little GMT that I am looking at for summer for those rare days in the UK when we get some sun its just a nice light little alternative to a heavy diver of any brand.
Again Nice one Nigel
Thanks Josh! The Evidenza is a really nice dress watch (I just had a look at it as I wasn't familiar with that one 😄)
And I get you regards the snobbery. Not Rolex's fault obviously, but Rolex definitely attracts the more snobby owners! Of all the watch groups I'm in on Facebook, the Rolex groups are the worst for it! But saying that, there is still a lot of snobbery in, say, the Omega groups too 🙄.
Which Timex are you looking at? Is it the Waterbury? The M79 automatic looks a fabulous watch (although it's not a GMT)
Thanks again Josh - I hope you are well my friend 😃👍
Great review mate! Keep it going good luck. I’m planning to buy this week what’s your say?
Cheers.
Thanks Abhi! I say go for it! 😀👍
Let me know how you get on 👍👍👍
Great review, I love Longines but I have never been a fan of this design. Something about it just doesn’t look quality to me. I prefer their heritage range……looking well thought mate nice one 👍👍👍
Thanks mate - and totally agree! 😄👍
Wow good review and you are so right about that no one notices because Im a huge Seinfeld fan and I never noticed he would usually wear Breitling funny thing is George would wear one sometimes but no way his carractor could afford one.Who will noticee your expensive watch are woman just as they notice your shoes first to see if you have money they will notice your watch or what CP you use.
Great review as always Nigel.
Not a fan of this version (two tone), and the dial layout is also a pain point for me.
Thanks Joe! And yes I agree 😄👍
Great video again mate. I saw a used one last night at a great price but the 21mm lug width is a dealbreaker for me. Nice watch though…
Thanks Lee. Yeah it's such a shame - cuts the options down by quite a bit!
can you elaborate on that point for a watch novice...why is that lug width a drawback?
Nice review! I think though a better match for the bluesy might be the Certina DS Diver. They now make a two-tone variant in 38mm. It may have an aluminum bezel insert and the brand is not that strong, but the value, the design look to be much better compared to Longines. Maybe you'd like to review that one too? Seems that there're no good in-depth reviews on the two-tone varíant.
Very interesting Andrew! I love my DS Action Diver, and as my AD is a stockist, I'll have to see if they have the two tone for me to review! Thanks for that my friend 😃👍👍👍
@@SirWatchGeek sounds great. Would love to see it!
The thing is people go on about the l888 but you don't notice the movement and you can't see it on any longines watches so it's kinda pointless tbh. People think the longines is a luxury watch because it has a nicer movement but really no it's not. It's not meant to compete with luxury brands like tag, omega, Breitling and so on. The build quality of a sub 2000dollar longines and a certina/Tissot isn't very different. All you need is to hold them side by side. But compare them the same way to a Breitling and it's night and day. When you're looking for an alternative watch like a hydrconquest or DS action then I think spending as little as possible say 500-1000 dollars is better than spending twice the amount. If the bluesy is your goal there's nothing wrong with a decent substitute that isn't some nasty homage or copy but just don't spend too much on it. It will only delay the purchase of the watch you really want. I would say 80% of people who buy an alternative to another watch will eventually save up and get their grail which is what I think everyone should do. It's the same thing as wanting a RO, you start with a quartz PRX and then in a year or two while you're on the waitlist you can have saved up the 23k it costs to buy the RO. Then you also always have a beater watch when you get your grail. Most people aren't gonna go do lawn work in a 1500dollar watch but a couple hundred dollar one it's not as much of a worry.
Really enjoyed this video as usual great fun and content the watch is very nice and I would b proud to own it 👍
Thank you Patrick! 🙏👍
I just bought a 2018 one from Harvey Thompson pawnbrokers £600 hit my budget happy with what I've bought
Honestly, I think the hydro conquest looks slightly better as the dimensions give the watch a little bit more of a modern contemporary look.
It also hold up extremely well against its competition at half the price!
Though I may be bias because I’ve just ordered the two tone green dial (so sexy)
Nice one Max! The two tone green looks amazing. Enjoy it, my friend! 😃🙌
I agree! The Rolex looks a little bit dated now ...
Great video 📹 👍 👏. Love This watch ⌚ 👌 😀 👍
Thanks Bill 😃🙌👍
❤ my Longines !
🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾Awesome review my Friend, now this makes my choice on my new watch list a lil harder to choose. We’ll see 🤔Oris Aquis, Doxa 300/300t, Bell & Ross BR-01 or the Longines here🤔, anyway awesome review again.👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
🙏🏾😌Be Safe;-).
Thanks again my friend! I own an Oris and a Doxa, and if I were in your shoes, it would definitely be the Doxa next. The design, with it's large cushion case, and that wonderful beads of rice bracelet is just so gorgeous!
My wife has an Oris Aquis (39.5mm) and it is beautiful, it's just the Doxa is next level design (in my opinion anyway 😄)
😃👍👍👍
@@SirWatchGeek Thank you so much for your opinion my Friend it’s highly valued, you are the second person who recommends the Doxa also.😉👍🏾🙏🏾😌
I like your video, if I may offer some advice... Maybe give your thumbnails some refinement... Skipped over it the other day because I judge by the cover. Keep it up!
I missed this comment Sam! Yeah - thumbnails are a nightmare! Very difficult to know what draws people's attention.
Thanks for the advice buddy 😃👍
Awesome ❤️
Good Jezza impression.
Cheers John 😁👍 - Hope you're well mate ✊✊✊
Once the hydrconquest gets the spirit level of finishing, a tapered all brushed bracelet and an acceptable clasp then I'll buy it in a heartbeat even at say 2000 dollars. But as it stands a Tag Heuer for 500-700 bucks more is a better watch even if it has a "lesser" movement. All you need to do is hold them side by side and you'll get what I mean before you start commenting about me being wrong.
Does this watch lose a lot of value? Plan on buying it? It would be my first somewhat expensive watch, never paid more than like 200e so far.. So Im thinking is this one right choice for the budget(1500-2000e)?
Apart from a very few brands, most watches will lose value as soon as you buy it! If you plan on keeping it, you should buy a watch because you love it and not what its future value might be.
This is certainly a great watch, but you may want to check out the likes of chrono24 to see what the used market prices are 😃👍
Buy a tag used or with a decent discount. 2000-2400 dollars for an aquaracer is a much better buy than a longines hydrconquest. The longines spirit is the least expensive longines I'd buy having experience with the conquest, hydrconquest, spirit, sector dial and a few others.
I'll say this the longines is closer to a Tissot that's 700-1000 dollars cheaper than it and the Tag is closer to the Tudor, Breitling and omega segment of the market. I personally when spending less than 5k care more about fit and finish than the movement. The tag has a super reliable and very cheap and easy to service ETA 2824-2. Its one of the best movements ever made and yes it's not as nice as an l888 but who cares? They are both ETA movements. If you really vare about movements then go for a watch with a Oris cal 400, the Tudor Mt caliber, the baumatic or the omega 8800.
@@antonhallergren588 After lot of thinking, I bought new Rado captain cook blue dial 41mm for like 1700usd and so happy with it
Great video mate, this one is not for me, the dial makes me think of something from Argos… not that there is anything wrong with that, apart from when you are paying £1500! 😂
Thanks buddy! Yeah I know exactly what you mean. Those over large numerals just take the edge off it.
@@SirWatchGeek yeah definitely, I do like some of Longines dress/heritage watches though and they do have a lot of history, interesting to note the logo is the oldest one registered, I didn’t know that 😁
Longines are killing it, I would never pay all that dosh for a Rolex, I would think how many as good watches I could get for 11K, rather than one overpriced watch.
Its not an alternative because it's 41m it needs to be available in the 39 because that's considered to be the perfect size just as the Rolex comes in that size.Longines is to Omega what Tudor is to Rolex.Look at Longines master collection there are a few models that no one else can touch it unless you spend even more money than a Rolex.
Great vid. For me this watch is a miss. I’m getting to where a good bracelet is almost as important as the head of the watch. Doesn’t appear to have taper and just seems cheap. At that price I would expect better! Like the crown though.
Thank you my friend!
It does taper down to 19mm (a point I inexcusably failed to mention 🙄) but it's the clasp that just lets it down. As you say - at that price it should definitely be higher quality 👍👍👍
It's a tissot but with a nice movement. I'm referring to the conquest/hydrconquest lineup. That's the reality of sub 2000 dollar longines. They are not even as good as tags in terms of finishing, build quality and so on. In hand and in person a tag feels much nicer than the longines and the bracelet is a million times nicer. I personally think that the whole segment of 1000-2500 dollars are just overpriced Tissot and certina watches essentially. The only brands I really like that do well in that segment are Doxa and Sinn. Oris if you can buy them at decent prices but they too are a little too expensive for what they are. You'd need a big discount or to buy them used for it to be a good deal with Oris.
Nice 👍
Just looks and screams cheap to me. For that kinda money a stainless steel Oris or Christopher Ward would draw me in.
Never got the painted gold thing, you'd be as well with a gold Sekonda.
I own this watch and it is nothing special to be honest.
Certina divers look way better and cost less than 50% of the Hydroconquest
I agree with that. DS automatic steel Dive watches are phenomenal bang for the buck
Not sure about the design of this one. Too many corners cut to keep the price down which cheapen the experience. I guess it gives the flavour of a Rolex Bluesy at a fraction of the price. The Rolex could get you into trouble in certain situations out and about whereas the Longines will be fine.
I completely agree with you there!
Too much clowning around.
The steal version
Looks like an Invicta.
This is what I call “ trailer park luxury”. PVD gold, ha ha ha ha . Rubbish mate. For £1500 , you would have to be schmuck to buy this .There are much better options for £1500 , especially on the pre owned market.
Yeah maybe, once the short lived honeymoon is over you may wake up seeing the flaws and cheaper execution and feel you’ve been mugged for 1500 quid which is hardly pocket change.
Yeah a basic tag aquaracer even that's like 5-700 dollars more with a discount feels in person like a much nicer watch for the money.
looks cheap and sounds cheap..
not true mate
Actually not mate great watch indeed .
I have in person experience with the longines and it's much closer to a Tissot with a nice movement than say even a entry level premium/luxury watch like the aquaracer from Tag.
The tag just feels solid while the longines has a sharp, polished and untapered yucky bracelet. Crown guards that dig into the wrist and the bezel has too much play.
One of the ugliest and poorly designed watches from a respected brand. Let me explain. I own the previos aluminum bezel version blue dial in SS and the crown guards and crown are extremely poorly designed. For one looking at the side view the center is lower than the top of the crown guard so a normal crown would make it hard to use so what do the designers at Longines do? Make it supidly longer. The general theme of the crown guards which I understand follows the Longines wing is just unattractive as well. Then for a diver the lume is weak. And then there's the other issue is the existence of the Orient Kamasu for one eighth the price which is much more appealing in design to the eye IMO with an in house movement. My guess is the Swatch Group purposely held this model back so it didn't overshadow the Seamaster.
Thanks for your comments Dick! Very interesting points you make there. Interestingly, the very next comment after yours is from someone saying what a very pretty watch it is! Just goes to show, beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder 😄👍
@@SirWatchGeek Agreed
Strange, why does some bluesy L3.742.3.96.7 came with polished gold centre links while yours is brushed? Link: ua-cam.com/video/ixmdCUpNEpw/v-deo.html
