This is exactly what I was worried about. The fitments on the Huayra was beyond awful and Aoshima disappointed us once again. I don't understand why such fine car brands like Pagani agrees to partner with Aoshima. In China we have a saying about Aoshima models, it roughly translates to "It's already a victory for building an Aoshima kit if could just finish it".
@@MitchSchneider777 I can't believe they repeated the exact same mistake over again. I feel like Aoshima just do not test build their models during development phase, or they just do not care anymore.
Disappointing about the fitment issue at the very end of a painstaking build, but the end result is stunningly beautiful and you will always know that your top class work is inside, - even the parts that you can't see. It's not much consolation for you, but for lesser mortals like me it's a little reassuring that things can go wrong for even the best modellers. I really appreciate the way you show all the materials you use, and other details like the airbrush needle sizes and spraying pressures, so thank you.
Amazing work once again, shame you had some fitment issues. But man the amount of carbon fibre you use on your models is mind blowing. Feel like would never have the patience to do that!
Unfortunately the Aoshima kits of the Paganis have this problem. I built the Huyara recently and had a similar issue. I chose the opposite way from you and glued all the panels and doors open. Its a shame that you lost sight of all the beautiful details you put in, but this was an amazing build as always Excellent work and I can't wait to see the next one.
This why I generally don't do models with opening doors. The last time I did I had fitment issues also. Can totally relate to just wanting a static model that looks good over having improperly fitting gimmicks.
I had this problem on a model about 12 months again. Fortunately i was able to conceal a small very strong magnet that held the part in place. I hope this may help in the future.
You did amazing I built a Aeoshima Pagani Huayra Pachetto Tempesta and it wa super challenging panel gaps awfully big and uneven and I end up doing like you did glueing it up 🤷🏻♂️
Personally I understand completely why you glued thigs shut. I've been anxiously awaiting final assembly. The Huayra has the same fit issues. I've been wondering if Aoshima fixed the body on the Zonda. Now I know. When my local gets it in I will still buy one simply because I love the car. Love the way yours turned out. Thanks soooo much for taking the time to build this kit. I'll be watching
The Huayra kit is notorious for terrible body fit issues. I was hoping Aoshima would have solved them for the Zonda kit. Doesn't look like they did. I Highly doubt the issue was anything you have done.
Have you ever built the REVELL BMW NASCAR M12 (released in 1988)? I have 2 of these, one in progress, and one still in the Sealed Box. "Somewhat similar" to the Zonda, but I couldn't find any Aftermarket Detail Parts...
Pagani used to work before at Lamborghini, where he learned the carbon fibre, he showed a poject of his own to 5-time F1 winner Fangio, and Fangio talked to Mercedes-AMG about the V12 engines needed for this car, would to be named as Fangio, but dropped that name after the driver died, the F in Zonda means Fangio or the most evolved Zonda ever!
Was considering this model until the body panel alignment issues. Excellent build though! I guess I can scratch Aoshima off my list of model brands to buy.
Keep in mind, not all kits from a brand are the same, This kit is one of those kits thats not the same as the rest of the brand. they over detailed it, to many parts, and functioning parts combined, make it a lot harder to get it to fit. Same for the other Pagani kit they have done, however not the same for all aoshima kits. I have built many of them that where totaly fine.
Well Aoshima messed up another Pagani. I build Aoshima kits (mostly the Lamborghini’s) but don’t like them at all. They don’t think as a modeler when engineering a kit, to many parts do not have attachment points, locator holes, … so how can you glue these parts without making a mess? Fine example are the side mirrors on this new kit, it’s like saying “good luck gluing them”. Now to decide to buy or not.. That all being said, you did a fantastic job Tom 👍.
Beautiful kit and job, but don't blame yourself, it's not the first time I see and hear people having fitment isuess with this particular kit, is a very common complain, I now your feeling, I recently build the Tamiya Ferrari Enzo and got the same issues
What a shame Tom!!! You put so much effort and dedication into it! That unfortunately confirmed my hesitation to get the Huayra. If you as such a talented builder can’t pull an Aoshima Pagani kit off, I certainly can’t Anyway. The work you are doing is simply stunning !
Well. I can pull it off. Just not with the parts opening snd closing😂😂😂 which for me it totaly fine. I would to the same to a huayra. I preffer them all closed up anyways.
Great work tom, one of the best. I know you said you used carbon decals from sk decals, I’ve searched the web for them and I can’t find the set you used. Could you point me in the right direction please because i do not fancy making all of them myself.
If you mean the templates. Then i have bad news, i made all of those myself. Non of them where pre cut it patterned. The carbon sheets can be bought through sk decals on facebook or instagram
Awful is a strong word, you did a real good job considering this is an Aoshima kit, I don't remember any of their kits that fitted well. Unfortunately this is the only brand that gives us the opportunity to build Pagani's models for a descent cost. Anyway, the result looks far good enough for me ! Cheers
Ah, I got a Zonda F on the way from JP. This kind of fitting is the sort of thing that worries me. Gonna display it closed anyway so probably some cutting and all will need to be done. But hey, Zonda's internals aren't as pretty as Huayra's so I wouldn't feel that sorry for closing it up...
May I explain the fit issues with this kit. I purchased one shortly after it was released and after dry fitting the front end I couldn't get anything to line up correctly sand the hood part and the others didn't fit spend days trying to make it work to no avail. I tried to make contact with Aroshimi twice with no reply. What I can't understand is there are reboxes of this kit, so I thought that you may have got one that should have included revised parts to make this kit work. There are also newer versions of this car, wounder if any if thoes kits would have ever fitted together. The only way I have seen this kit finished was with everything glued open. So its not just your kit, its a very poorly designed and engineered kit from day one and then biggest disappointment in my model car building career. Bet most of these kits are still unfinished and stashed their box. Kind regards Dave Porter, london.
Hi Dave, the one you are talking about is the Huayra the current model from Pagani. This is the Zonda the first model pagani made, and in this case a brand new kit. The Huayra indeed had the same sort of fitment issues though. And has been released in several versions. All with the same problems.
Don't beat yourself up. You are one of the most talented builders that I have seen. You are, in my opinion, an artist.
Beautiful workmanship

Totally agree, Zonda is a good car, but aoshima probably ruined it.

Would have left it all of to see the inside myself. Looks amazing
I think it came out really good, I’m looking forward to getting the zonda F and hopefully the do zonda R

Great work awesome build, don’t be so hard on yourself it came out truly beautiful.
Being used with building resin kits, I always do a dry fit before painting anything, in order to address this exact issue.
This why I generally don't do models with opening doors. The last time I did I had fitment issues also. Can totally relate to just wanting a static model that looks good over having improperly fitting gimmicks.
It's like the Hyuyuyaaraaaarryyuaa, its meant to be displayed open, or closed.

Awesome job
Masterpiece! Then, what’s your next build is…?
Wow beautiful build
Same with the Huayra, nothing really fits together as it should. I keep it open and that's it..
Great build👍👍
Awesome work
Great work like always Tom, looks amazing 👍🏼👍🏼
Looks great to me, but that’s just my opinion! Loved the video, thanks for sharing! Happy days and model on! 😎
I've been there before and had to do the same and glue it all down, sucks but it happens
Would love to see you do the M3 as I've just ordered one. Not a real one ...... unfortunately!!!
Had the same issue on my aoshima Pagani huayra
Great job, love it
Amazing work! As usual!!
Absolutely amazing build! Can't wait for the future Huayra build if it ever happens.

Always thought about buying this kit, then I see how difficult this kit is and think maybe never.
Awesome!!

Cheers tom, i thought it was a decal set, the old fashioned way it is 😂. Thanks for you time.
Wish it was, would have saved me a whole heck of a lot of time XD
I'm building this kit at the moment what site did you go on to get the detail up set and metal transfer stickers.
They where sent to me by Aoshima. I did not buy them ;)

I want to paint a model car with metal flake. Do you know where I can find the right size flake?
I don't. i do know that zero paints offers various different flake base paints.
Looks incredible! Did you use the bsi gold for the glass and PE parts aswell?
Yes
👏👏👏👏👏😀😀😀
Seen many of the same complaints about this model

No such thing as too much Carbon Fibre!
Disgusting kits from Aoshima. Curves and very inaccurate
