Physics on Khan Academy: Physics is the study of the basic principles that govern the physical world around us. We'll start by looking at motion itself. Then, we'll learn about forces, momentum, energy, and other concepts in lots of different physical situations. To get the most out of physics, you'll need a solid understanding of algebra and a basic understanding of trigonometry.
About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

Yo its P sub d and im listening to my pal, Sal
He'll tell you everything about Pascal.
But don't worry, he wont make it complicated
What he will do is make your teacher seem overrated!
    My man Sal's main mission
Is to make physics part of your intuition!
Its P sub d and im over and out!
Sal is the best beyond any doubt!

heyooo, I have a question: sometimes, the force exerted on the upwards direction is calculated by this equation: F'= (P+ΔP) x A. What does the ΔP stand for? I really can't understand this equation, as the force upwards is equal to the force downwards...

6:15 That's only true for cylindrical vessels. If you instead assume a conical vessel, the volume would be 1/3*A*h and so you get P=1/3*p*g*h Could anyone explain this to me please? It's been bothering me for 12 years 😖

  • @JackAdrianZappa

I'm confused. Density is a function of pressure. Pressure is a function of height. Mass of the liquid above the reference point can't be just *area * height * density* as density is constantly varying over height.

Here, it's assumed that the circular foil is of negligible mass, otherwise, the foil would accelerate downwards, I'm sure.
The foil is just used as an indicator.
The air is also a fluid, it also has a pressure on our bodies. The higher you gob the lesser the pressure. That's why sometimes blood comes out of the nose of a mountaineer , as the atmospheric pressure keeps our blood pressure sustainable. When this atmospheric pressure decreases then the blood pressure becomes relatively more, thus the blood vessels tear out and blood leaks out. A horrific situation !!!!!:v
