Lotta memories from the Summer of 75. Sexy song. I was 13 at the time. Turn on the radio that summer and hear this and "Get Down Tonight," "Why Can't We Be Friends," "The Hustle" and other great R&B/dance nuggets. Wasn't it fun the songs back then would come out and grab you and take you in.
I was 15 and was totally lost in the great music of our times, Redbone was holding court, and then someone said, "Let's do it again", Betty whispered,
"Tonight is the night" ,,,
I’m obsessed with her voice. She’s a legend!
She sounded just as good in 2008 as she did in the 70's! One of my fav 70's songs!

Realizing that "Rockin' Chair" was a huge hit over 30 years (1975) prior to this, I gotta admit, I was almost afraid to give this new version a listen! After hearing it, Mrs. McCrae, baby....you can STILL MAKE THAT CHAIR ROCK! EXCELLENT! Long live the talented, beautiful superstar Gwen McCrae! You got it going on there lady!

Summer '75. WOW! Spent that summer listening to Grand Funk and Jim Croce, with a major crush on Linda Blair! Played the hell out of this song (and others) on my K-Tel albums.Thanks for the memories. Much appreciated from Canada.

Bought this song in 1974 on a 45, when I was a kid, with my allowance money at JC Penny, and played it non-stop on my record player. She still sounds great at the time of this recording. Wish I could go back.
LOL I bought this the same time is you shortly her husband big hit Rock Your Baby. Both of them songs came out close together I believe! I usually bought my records when the new ones came in on Tuesdays at FW Woolworth, hence the dime store it was called back then.

I had probably every top song from 1971 to 1976 on 45, and sold all of them at a garage sale for $10 years ago, before I knew how much they were worth. What a dummy ha ha !

Same here...mid 70s...I was 5-6 years old...this song NEVER left me. I would only hear it once every so many years...couldn't find a way to listen to it...then it came on sirius radio...saw the name of the singer...that was it!

To the knucklehead twins here...the original came out 36 years ago! Your ages probably total less than that combined. If you were classic old school, you'd think differently. Gwen still sounds AWESOME. And I'll bet she can move just fine.
