Oh my goodness! I am totally geeking. I bought one of your husband's chimes months ago. Haven't started using it in the art room yet, but this just gave me a moment.
You are so magnificent, like a shining nearby galaxy. Keep on teaching the way you do! It’s so good, that I hang on your every word myself!! Superteacher!
Hello from Argentina. Super awesome management ideas. I Defenetely put them into practice in my class. Have an amazing school year. Happy teaching. Miss Miriam.
I love the "open"/"closed" idea!! Kids will keep their hands raised fooooooooevahhhhhhh to tell me something crucial like, "My second cousin's baby sister has little feet...OR...ask me something like, "What are we doing today?!" (As I'm telling them what we're doing today! lololol)
I love, love, love your dress. I think you mentioned on another blog where you got it. However, for the life of me, I cannot find it. Could you please tell me again where you got that super duper shirt waist dress? Thanks a million!
Oh my gosh! I just went and ordered a chime. I am SICK of trying to talk loudly to get the kid's attention. One of my art rooms has super high ceilings do it is really echoey so my vocal chords have been feeling it. I am so excited to have this new thing in my tool belt! I also love the happy-sad board. I've been looking for something to do like this, especially one where I don't have to shell out prizes. I made the mistake of doing that with one especially difficult class and it really did not help.
I teach art at the Boys & Girls Club. I was looking for some inspiration in getting ready for the new school year, and your videos got me pumped. You have so many good ideas!
Hi! Fellow Boys & Girls Club educator here. I'm still establishing programming and how to tailor it to our little club! I'd love to hear an update from you and your career success! Just thought I'd try to say hello after seeing your comment!
@@mckenzieg Hi. So cool to hear from another BGC staff person. We practice voice and choice a lot. So I get feedback in person through conversations, raised hands voting, I also do surveys. That way we can have a finger on the pulse of what they want and incorporate it into our program. It's very fluid, but I also try to keep a certain level of structure. Hope this helps, and thanks for reaching out.
@@jonnyboy.natalio I am so happy to hear back!! Thank you for updating me. May I ask for more info on the survey? I am needing to plan activities for youth in grades K-8 and right now we have one room to use for activities and are not staffed enough to divide members by age, skills, or interest groups. I've been trying different approaches to do so but still have not found one that seems to work. I have wanted to do regular surveys and one-to-one check ins, but I'm struggling to find the time during the day let alone create a survey that would be appropriate for all ages. Any more advice? Do you have different surveys for different groups? Could you describe how simple or complex your surveys are? Thank you again. I appreciate your virtual mentorship 🙂
@mckenzieg I use surveymonkey and have been trying out google forms lately. They're very similar. If you have laptops or tablets, you can have the members take a little time in the session to complete the surveys. I ask simple things like "what kind of media are you interested in working with?" "what was you're favorite part of the last project?" Sometimes to get real time feedback at the end of a session I'll just ask the group "Did you like this project and do you want to do similar projects in the future."
Hi Cassie, thanks for all your classroom mangagement tips! I love the happy/sad board! But how do you remember which student's got which number? Do they always sit in the same spot all year round? Because our students are used to change their seats and/or swap neighbours every once in a while in class and I really get confused with it. I colour coded the desks too, but it doesn't help at all cos as soon as I remember where they sit, everything gets mixed up again...
This is why I require assigned seats. I tell my kiddos that it is just for me, and not necessarily because I think they can't behave in other spots. I have almost 400 kids... so remembering names is not easy.
How can you coordinate all these orders with the time? My class is 45 minutes, and it is not enough for them to understand all these orders and also carry out the technical work.. How can I manage time with the orders, please? I am studying for KG level
Hello Cassie How are you doing? I have just explored your amazing channel and I am so happy with that. In fact, I am gonna have pre_school classes in private school and I need textbooks for that. Would you help me with that please Best from Algeria
Great ideas! However, I am concerned if I do a verbal roll call and ask each student (25 or more students) a random question that it would take a substantial chunk of time away from class work including introduction of lesson, work time and clean up time. My Art classes are 45 minutes. How does it work for you?
Hi cassie! Regarding your kindergarten heart prints, do you give kindergartners the steel wool? Any concern over giving them spray painted materials (once dry obviously)? Thanks

Cassie does have assigned seats. I don't know if they stay in the same seat all year.

Cassie only does the roll call with questions on the first day of school. It would be great if there was time to do it more often though!
Thank you for getting back to me. That makes sense.
