Traveling JACKSONVILLE - I-95 - City in Waiting

- Our latest video of Jacksonville here • Jacksonville Travel Gu...
. We will show the surrounding areas of JAX, the coastal areas of JAX Bch, Neptune Beach, Fernandina Beach, as will as the downtown areas of Riverside, Brooklyn, the South Bank. It will show the evidence, that Jacksonville is growing, maybe not as quick as Tampa or Miami, but some very good things happening.
This is a driving video with Aerial Footage. Stock Footage of this video is available, contact us at info@TampaAerialMedia.com
We start at I-95 at the north end of the I-295 Beltway and travel into downtown Jacksonville for a tour, then continue on I-95 to the south end of the I-295 Beltway. At some point in the future we will do a full feature on Jacksonville and the surrounding areas.
We titled this video "City in Waiting". After demolishing Jacksonville Landing, Jacksonville is alittle quiet. They have had a couple of developments fall through. After doing Tampa who is well into developing their waterfront areas, you feel alittle bit for the city of Jacksonville, there is certainly alittle bit of disappointment. I do believe however, good things are in the future for this growing southeastern city. Jaguars owner Shadid Khan, I believe will provide that spark to re-energize downtown. They are expected to begin construction in 2021 of a development along the waterfront that will connect the urban core to the sports and entertainment complex. I was alittle shocked that all they have planned for the site of the former Jacksonville landing is a urban park. However the downtown area has too much potentional with the St Johns River and I believe although maybe 5 or more years behind Tampa, it will soon become a popular tourist destination.

Beautiful 42 lawd have mercy I'ma GA boy still getting used to Jax been here 5 yrs
Thanks for making this video. I've been a resident of Jacksonville for 6 years and I love it here! Warmer than Indiana, milder than Texas, and it stays green year round. No winter to speak of. Very happy here!
Thankyou for the nice words, yes it does have a great climate.
I second that! I'm from WI, but moved here 20 years ago. I love Jax!
You guys obviously don't see or have to live in the jackonville those of us under the poverty level have lived with for the last 40 years. im a native from jax and ill tell you this. Those roads that your cruising so smoothly through are normally very high in volume it usually is stop and go most of the toime through those areas. it really is quite profound to see the roads due to the recent events.. thanks for coming here and making this video.
yep very true, thankyou for the nice words.
So this is what it looks like when you're moving more than 10 miles an hour LOL
I was born& raised in Florida,& it upsets me that so many ppl from other states keep moving to Florida,& there's not enough room here for everyone!!
Our roads are so congested, that its almost quicker to walk to get where you need to go!

I drive from NYC to Orl frequently and i must say. One of my favorite things about that trip is how amazing JAX looks! From the view from a far to the bridges so so fascinating. Great video man!
I had my 3rd child in Jacksonville, and lived just off of Beach Blvd. That was in 1979. Wow, has Jacksonville changed and grown up.

This video makes Jacksonville look prettier than living here.
Exactly
@@ivelissesuero1569 I agree. you gotta be brave to walk alone in downtown.. so many people stop you ask you for money.. sometimes you're not sure if they're robbing you or just begging.
Take everything in life with a grain of salt. Things will never be as bad as you fear and not as rosy as you hoped. Life is all in between. Well done video and still makes me proud of JAX despite not being from here. Lived in California for 22yrs.
The job market can be a little frustrating if not downright depressing. So before you move here, it would be ideal to have a job lined up. If not, a gig job like Uber/Lyft can help in the meantime in between time. I have been living here going about 6yrs.
The people are not the most educated but overall nice. Real estate is affordable and you can make things work out (with a little bit of effort).
If you want to move to JAX (or any city for that matter), peel back behind any glossy video and go visit (at least once) and spend about a week just soaking up the city before making up your mind. Multiple visits will be super nice.
Nonetheless, I'm optimistic about my prospects in JAX but its taking a bit longer than i hoped.
Very good acurated comment on Jacksonville, absoulte loved what you said, excellent anaylisis. We want to go back and shoot a full feature to show the great areas around JAX.
I love how they look up when they go through downtown so they don’t see all the hobos
you got me, yep, figured it was better to see the tops of the buildings.
I was thinking that exact same thing 😄😄
what is a hobo, someone less fortunate than you, now you are in the food line, are you now a hobo
Arleen Scott no hobo are the drugs addicted and drunk that won’t get a job. You know trash and who want to see trash on the street
Not today nothing to see homeless everywhere ghost town dow9area is too dark no business I live 5 minutes away from downtown

Thanks for the nice words, yea theres so many other great areas of Jacksonville that we didn't even cover here. Welcome to FL.
i recommend doing more research before moving here. the police suck and there's a lot of crime and run down neighborhoods. lots of homeless and poverty.
@Eli Kf hi! thanks! how do you like florida? compared to ny?

Alana Roman I would recommend living in Mandarin or Avondale, but if you are looking to stay away from crime I would recommend not living in some parts of the west side.
this makes jacksonville look much nicer than it actually is
Jacksonville sucks in real life.
Im so sad they destroyed the landing. so many great concerts and events were held there.
yea, it seemed to be the most lively place in Jacksonville. Hope they do something more than just building a park there.
And they had the BEST Christmas and new year's entertainment out there... ahhh memories😇
I only went to the Landing here once. Seems the crime took over.
No parking.... And to build a park... I wonder how they will keep homeless people going there at night?
They should build homeless shelters off Davis Street on the empty grassy areas along 95...and by Salvation Army. So many empty lots there....
TampaAerialMedia ??? You’re kidding. The landing was the most lively place?
Before they tore down the Landing there hasn't been a concert there or event in like 10 years.
I'm from Jacksonville Florida DUVAL, you never talked about San Marco area or the town center or ALL of our wonderful beaches.
Yep we are going to be doing more of a full feature where we will cover some of that. At the time we shot this the beaches were closed. Good to see they are opening up now.

Good news. We have a new video coming next Sunday, and it is going to be sharing alot of positive light on JAX. There are some good things starting to happen in JAX.
Before hollywood settled in California, Jacksonville was a film industry town..
Still can't believe they tore down the landing.... Smdh 🤦🏾♀️
me neither, that was one of the best things about Jacksonville.
TampaAerialMedia lack of sales plus crimes on big events was about 3 shootings in there
😳 no way!! I had no idea
Laurin Robinson big reason was lack of sales but everytine there was an big event example Christmas, new years etc etc some bullshit was bound to happen
They need better investors in Jacksonville. The landing should have been a outlet mall not a homeless shelter.
I live an hour north of Jacksonville in Brunswick, Ga. I drive through there quite often. This was a great traveling view of Jacksonville to watch from a non driving view.
How is brunswick to live in?
I’ll say one thing about Jacksonville… I always felt lucky to get out of there alive, which made me appreciate life more.
Thank you for sharing. Hopefully whatever you thru out you went back and picked up. Keep Jacksonville beautiful. Don’t be a litter bug.

They tore down "Jacksonville Landing" (ahead of it's time), the best thing downtown Jacksonville had going for. :( Biggest city in Florida (sq. mile), but boring city, there's nothing to do.
loumcast I agree I’m from n live in DC my man lives in jacks I been going 4 years now .. it’s boring now
Yea true, without Jacksonville Landing, downtown is dead, and I don't understand the plan to just put a park there. Build something that will really bring people into the area.
@@TampaAerialMedia I agree with you 100%!!!
@@postellpostell8250 It's a shame, cause part of having a good quality of life in any city, it's having places to go to for recreation/arts/entertainment, etc..
They tore the landing down? When?
I remember driving through Jacksonville in the 1970s and smelling all the wood mill!
What a great image from the air, thanks a lot!!!
Thankyou for the nice words
Jacksonville has a great foundation it just needs to develop more and loose that small town feel and clean up the different areas that are run down.
I LOVE Jacksonville, my new home. Moved from Denver 3 years ago. I was in Denver for years when the downtown wasn't much to speak of, but they did some projects and completely revamped areas, now there's lots to do...the same thing can happen here. Sounds like there are exciting plans. We brought our software dev business here and also we're starting a church (New Life Tabernacle of JAX). Really love the people! Enjoying the weather so much, do not miss the cold months at all. Love going to the beach! Our dog Milo loves his new home too, he loves the beach and chasing geckos :).
yes I agree, something like the 16th St Mall in Denver would be a great idea for JAX. Denver has done it right.
Visited Jacksonville one time when I was a kid, all I remember was we walked across a bridge. I was young lol.
The Hecksher dr from 295 toward Amelia Island is my favorite. Dames point, Huguenot, Talbot, ft george island...

Been living here my whole life. Can't say much has changed. Seem's we've always been on the brink of a boom but nothing amazing ever happens. Downtown economy is dead, beaches are about the most lively place as you would imagine.

As a native born and raised....all I can say is Jacksonville needs to get it together. Whoever is in charge of community development needs to be removed. After living in NYC for 7 years, I love my city but its become TOO much of a sleepy town. 😴😴

The best thing this city looks to have is it's lack of traffic. Look how open those roads are!
well frankly they is because of Covid-19, normally they are pretty crowded.
don't be deceived by the lack of traffic. we are complete idiots with a lot of traffic here.

Ha ha ha.... This was recorded throughout the Covid19 lockdown and that is why there is barely any traffic out there. 😂
yep correct.
that is cool...we soon to be resident of Jacksonville by next summer.
Dang, what time you filmed this? The roads look empty. Never seen traffic that low. 😂
Yep right in the middle of the shut down.
The traffic in Jacksonville is general Lowe than most cities anyways. The only reason it is #12 most populated the USA is due to the fact unlike other Florida cities JAX is a consolidate-county city meaning the entire county for the most part is just Jacksonville, so even if your in Duval county and are in the areas where it is just open farm land or private home sprawl maybe it still is Jacksonville. New Orleans is another example of this too. Jacksonville Dual County is much larger too than other Florida counties like Hillsbrough and Orange to add on top of that. If Jacksonville was the normal city limit of that of Miami or Tampa is the city population in the county would be much lower than it really makes it out to be and the low amount of traffic in general is evidence of that.
Very nice looking city and downtown....👌🏽👏👍🤗🤗. Tony j from Indiana
Black females not whites at night time leave downtown or the 👮 will think your crazy or Drugs.
Most people live far away from the downtown area and it is very isolated compared to most other cities. It is almost impossible to attract a regular flow of people to downtown Jacksonville.
That's the problem with most American cities, not just Jacksonville. Besides the NE cities like Boston, Philadelphia, NYC, DC area and some west coast cities, most down town areas are dead.
I was born and raised in NY, spent my last 5 years in Dallas, TX. With a metro population of around 8 million, the 4th largest metro in America, down town always looks dead. Cities built for the car sprawl to much. Everyone is in the suburbs.
Jacksonville Beaches will reopen this evening! YES!!!
Amazing, I just like Florida state because the people over there is very friendly and they are very receptive.
Others place in USA the people is very cold.
Yea I've found other areas to be friendly as well like the midwest, but yea, Florida is friendlier than most places (maybe with the exception of Miami).
I’m sure it depends on where you go too lol. People are pretty friendly here in Louisiana!

This was just a driving video, that we ended up doing some aerial shots of down town, as it was filmed in the middle of the Lockdown. We are coming back later this year to do a full feature on Jacksonville that will show the surrounding beaches.
Before it was called Jacksonville it was Cowford.
Really??
@@markhunter69 Yes SHERYL
The St. Johns River settlement that grew up to be Jacksonville was first called Cowford because it was a place in the river narrow and shallow enough that cattle could be driven across it.
The north side of the ford was near where the Duval County Courthouse is, but the river is deeper now because of dredging.
After Florida became a U.S. territory in 1821, the inhabitants of Cowford wanted to found a town of 20 blocks. The town was named after Andrew Jackson, who had served as a temporary governor of the territory.

Jacksonville is now the largest city in Florida with a population of more then 1,000,000 people, with Miami and St. Petersburg/Tampa Bay combined. They should deserve a MLB franchise from Miami Marlins. Miami Marlins will draw less then 10,000 fans per home game at the Marlins Parks. Because of COVID-19, I don't think they will not draw not even 1,000 fans per game, which is worst then the Montreal Expos back in 2004.
No one even attends the Jaguars games. That is why they get more attendance in England😂. The Jags will be gone soon.

I was in JAX this past weekend and the city was ominously quiet. Not sure whether that's because of Covid, or because it was sunday, or only because it was only in the lower 50's with high winds?
Yea it is alittle quiet for a downtown, but I guess if people want excitement they go to Miami, Tampa, or Ft Lauderdale, where we are fiming our next video.

I’ve lived here since the mid-70s. And this city has had its growth pains and ups and downs. When I got here Dames Point bridge wasn’t there, 295 wasn’t done and there was no J Turner Butler.
