I'm not sure if I've ever used hot pressed watercolor paper, but I think the effect you drew is pretty good !!! ❤❤❤👍👍
You should give it a try, it’s a different experience, closer to drawing paper I think 🥰 thank you!
I use the hot pressed Baohong for character illustrations and so far I never had issues with blooming or blotchyness. Even with cheap paints like the Giorgione (tubes dried in pans). I always mix and prepare my colors first in my mixing palette so that I don't have to mix them while I'm painting. This way the paint has not enough time to dry on the paper. I also mix a good amount of water into my mixing palette.
I love this paper, I just ordered 2 more pads on T-mu. One of them being the square 26x26cm one, which I'm gonna cut into round sheets for nice character illustrations. There's a huge lack of round cotton watercolor paper out there. So, I'm gonna make it myself. :P

Oooh I’ve never thought of using round paper?? That’s such a cool idea 😮 I think I’ve seen canvases but not watercolour paper like you said. Yep I think I’d come straight from khadi paper and was expecting it to be similar, definitely should have worked a lot faster! Though had no issues with wet on wet so I’ll probably start there. The paper is really cheap on there when the offers are on so it’s completely worth it. I’m glad you’re enjoying it like I am 🥰❤️

Honestly yep!
I have the hot press, although I DO NOT KNOW what I am DOING 😂 Mine has probably gone bad too, as I had no clue that sizing was even a thing and that it could go bad. In saying that, I am so inexperienced, I wouldn't really notice.
I love the pinks and purples. Those are some of my favorite colours :)
