I just got mine yesterday - same series but I opted for the flat black with gold hardware.... I am really impressed with the quality - Action is set just right, intonation is perfect - Grover tuners? Even my best guitar doesn't come with stock Grover's. No flat frets, no buzz on any string in any position and the harmonics are exact and ring loud. I haven't even plugged it into an amp yet and already my fingers hate me from not putting the thing down for hours.... what a really great guitar!
Nick! Somehow or another, I've completely missed your return. I'm glad you're back, man! I have the black SC Custom and I love it. I keep thinking about getting this blue one because my black has the older Wilkinson pickups. It sounds great, man! Again, welcome back! - John
Hi Nick, it's Stan. I've had my eye on this guitar for a while. That is one sweet guitar. Drool, drool, drool. That stinks that shipping is taking forever. I guess that's the new world we live in. Thanks for the review. Hope all is well with your family and friends. Have a great day!
Gotta say, I usually do not like blue guitars, but as you said, when they get it right....Harley Benton definitely got it right on this. That is a beautiful guitar! TBH, most of the blue HBs I have seen been really nice. They seem to get it right! Nice guitar and great video!
Mine isn't blue, but black with gold hardware. Only thing I don't like about it is it's weight, everything else is awesome!! I prefer my Harley Benton strat tho because it's lighter and I just love the strat tones, but now and then I grab the SC custom and am never dissappointed, until my back starts to hurt...
I ordered a Hofner base guitar case from Thomann in March and was expecting to see it about now, so I was really surprised to see it the following week. Not surprised it's now taking several weeks, but sorry it is. I realllllly want this Harley Benton because I'd love a replacement for my old Les Paul Jr. Plus I love the Ocean.
I love my SC-Custom VB. I find everything you say about your experience with this guitar to be true. Mine was B-Stock for $153.00. It must have been a return or display, because it is flawless! I also have the Harley Benton GS-Travel Mahogany E, which is a Taylor GS Mini clone. I have played them both and while I will not say it's as good as the Taylor, it's pretty darn close.
Ugh yours is stuck, too? lol my Amaroks haven't left Germany yet, last update was the 4th of April 🙃🙃🙃Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the purple one :)

It's really a surprising guitar. I spent the morning working on a track with it... and I'm sure I wouldn't have even started had the guitar not led me to it.
I changed the pickups on mine. Those Roswell LAFs sounded very meh to me and I can hear everything I didn't like about them in your demo. I also have the Floyd Rose version which is a very different guitar: in addition to the FR it has a different neck; I changed the pickups in that one too. I prefer this model (mine is Lemon Flame) to the FR BTW. I also have a Harley Benton Strat and a Harley Benton Tele, on both I love the Roswell single coils and will not be changing them but the likely need to change pickups is putting me off buying any more Harley Benton HH types as the price is less atttactive once new pickups are added. Cheers for a great vid from jolly old UK.
You know how I feel about blue guitars! You are so right that HB got that blue just perfect. That back is almost as nice as my Diamond Hailfire's blue back. Almost like candy. Man, I wish I had HB's when I was a kid. So much value for the money. Great video as always! God bless and rock on 🎸😎👍

I think I’ll pickup this one and when it arrives I’ll compare and probably sell off the Wolf if the HB can keep up the tone.

Third- as for patience- I just discovered the TE-40, which seems to combine my love for T-style and SG's- but having contacted the fine folks at Thomann, I know they won't be getting them in stock until November- even though they ordered them in April. The Roswells Def are nothing to write home about. They are not garbage but typical cheap humbuckers. Typically the first thing people tend to want to change about the HBs are those. I did so with every HB I got.
Hi Nick, thanks for this great review! I do consider buying one myself and have watched several reviews of this specific HB model on UA-cam. Most are positive but one review (Sept 2017) made me a bit hesitating to order one without some fact checking first. Do you recognise (any of) the "issues" this guy is mentioning in his review see ua-cam.com/video/C9pFW3bK_qA/v-deo.html : Rough fret ends and dirty fretboard (@06:50), tone pot lacking up/down switch (@07:46 guess on his model only since you showed in your vid), volume pot "cuts" on treble (@16:00) which requires a treble-bleed mod, tone control issues (@17:12), "scaling" on mainly low E string which might be resolved with thicker strings (@21:19). His final verdict (@33:00-34:45): nice guitar for the price but real issues with the volume/treble bleed which actually need a modification, also mentioning that said problems might be resolved from 2018 onwards when HB is changing production plant in China. Just curious about your findings in relation to the above. Appreciate your feedback and best regards from the Netherlands!
These guitars are great for the price, but I don't get why they haven't made it an EC1000 clone. Cloning the EC256 which is already inexpensive and isn't that different from the SC450 seems to be missing a trick. If this was 24 frets with a sculpted heel I'd be all over it
It looks like the shipping situation has gotten much worse in the months since. I'm looking at spending over 100$ in shipping for two guitars from Thomann to the US. It's 70$ for just one guitar.
I want to buy one of these guitars so bad. I wanna Whistlin' Diesel one in a glorious ball of flames. I like you, but I hate this brand with every fibre of my being. I can accept the every manufacturer makes a T-style and S-style and LP knock off. What I hate about this company is how deliberately they've been about making these guitars almost identical replica's, minus the subtle changes in headstock shape. It would be like if I just began filming the exact same videos you make, with only subtle changes, so people think it's associated with you, or is close enough to your content to pass. One day soon, you'll see a video from me that begins with one of the guitars in flames behind me doing an intro;-)
haha I totally understand man. They went from exact Gibson copies to LTD copies. I do give them credit for their new higher end stuff (Fusion, Henning, Agufish) that are more of their own thing.
Well, anyone who thinks these are "almost identical replicas" has never held one in his hands I'd suggest. I can think of other companies - including Gibson, oddly enough (Hendrix 'stratocaster' anyone) - who have made guitars much closer to rival's products.
I'm guilty of both! But I'm a guitar omnivore. I love cheap, surprising guitars... and own a fair amount of the expensive stuff too... but each have their place and admittedly the expensive ones are also each low interest savings accounts as well. This guitar does prove though that the more you spend there are diminishing returns. Excellent value.

Now again ,is it my speekers ,or sound is a bit ..."under wather" ... hell ,I would buy it and put it insted of a painting. But I need back up HH guitar. What are your recomandation. PRS 245 for 550 euros ,or this for 270?
I would really aprisiate if you get around to unswer me.
Kind regards
Enis
The Roswells Def are nothing to write home about. They are not garbage but typical cheap humbuckers. Typically the first thing people tend to want to change about the HBs are those.
I did so with every HB I got.
Hi Nick, thanks for this great review! I do consider buying one myself and have watched several reviews of this specific HB model on UA-cam. Most are positive but one review (Sept 2017) made me a bit hesitating to order one without some fact checking first. Do you recognise (any of) the "issues" this guy is mentioning in his review see ua-cam.com/video/C9pFW3bK_qA/v-deo.html :
Rough fret ends and dirty fretboard (@06:50), tone pot lacking up/down switch (@07:46 guess on his model only since you showed in your vid), volume pot "cuts" on treble (@16:00) which requires a treble-bleed mod, tone control issues (@17:12), "scaling" on mainly low E string which might be resolved with thicker strings (@21:19).
If this was 24 frets with a sculpted heel I'd be all over it
Check out the floyd rose version of it
fucking hell it sounds like a 3k guitar.
It looks like the shipping situation has gotten much worse in the months since. I'm looking at spending over 100$ in shipping for two guitars from Thomann to the US. It's 70$ for just one guitar.
What exactly makes / defines it as a Custom ??????????? Is use the word " Custom " merely a marketing term to make the product more appealing ????
Bingo!
Look at the HB website. It's a category of their guitars.
Face it Nick, You have a blue guitar fetish! ;-)
That's a blue Harley Benton. I have a blue guitar fetish /s
H.B.s are not cheap, they are inexpensive.
No such thing as cheap guitars just guitar snobs feel the need to spend crazy money on known name guitars
Just goes to show how greatly over priced a lot of the "big named" guitars are.
I just had one of the best guitar techs in Houston, TX tell me he couldn't see much if any difference between my HB SC Custom VB and the $900 ESP!!!
"Jatoba" sounds like a made-up word...
Hey, who cut your hair?!?
Ahhh ha ha ha haaaaaa right on, right maaann!
I can take personal credit for this atrocity!
@@NickintheStates Then you are a braver man than I...
The guy needs to get over himself.
