etrailer is amazing! We've used them since they were a tiny parts shop near St. Charles Missouri. They actually do installs as well, if you're in the area. They are a first class, customer focused operation!
Thanks for the video. I also installed a Maxxair deluxe fan for the static vent in the bedroom of our travel trailer. Also replaced the small vent/fan in the bathroom with a Hengs Vortex. These are a great improvement.
One of my all time favorite tools is the multi-tool. I had a 12 volt one first, world ok but heavy use, not great. Got 18 volt Ridgid, works great, but if you push it long, it overheats/ shuts down.. for heavy use, I use the Ridgid electric multi-tool. I buy them for the lifetime service and it works. A little trouble at times but I’ve gotten $1,400.00 in free batteries over 15-20 years.
It looks like you were pulling out a utility knife to cut the tip of the Dicor tube, though you didn't show it. That caulk gun ( and most you now find in the stores) has a hole in the side of the grip that you can stick the tip into and squeeze the trigger hard and it will cut the tip off.
Thanks Anthony. I didn't realize that's what that hole in the caulk gun handel was for. I'm never without my knife though & use it for everything! - Dennis ✌️

Hi! New subscriber! This is just the info I needed. My poor old AC unit on my 28 year old class C has given up the ghost. This is what I need to replace it. Thanks for the info. PS...I also had a kitty name Oliver. He passed away a few weeks ago and I'm missing him like crazy.
Hi there! 👋 Thanks for watching & subscribing! I wouldn't say the Maxxfan is an AC replacement. But if you live in an area that stays fairly cool it will definitely help regulate the temps inside your class c. I'm sorry to hear about your kitty cat! I feel I would be the same if my Ollie passed on 😔 - Dennis
Only thing I don't seem to see is tucking the wires after they are connected and before the shroud is cut / installed. I assume they just get bunched into the roof edge. Enjoyed the video; good job.
Thanks for the video. We getting g a new unit that doesn't have a fan in the bedroom. After having see just how easy you made this look it won't be a problem for our decision. You missed showing how you sealed the outside after connecting the fan. I'm sure the maxxair directions explained where though. Nice job. New subscriber here!!
Glad it helped! For the outside I used a combo of butyl putty between the bottom of the fan shroud where it meets/touches the roofs surface. then self-leveling lap sealant over all screws and joints around the shroud and roof surface.
So glad you enjoyed the video! That's quite a few fur babies you have. What style of camper are you traveling in? Eat See RV I’m close to settling on the Winnebago Fuse 23A. And I will definitely use your links if/when I buy. I’ve actually investigated scooter racks and tow bars (still making decisions) through eTrailer so I was glad to hear you speak highly of them.
Great video. I was wondering if the Eternabond tape I have will work where you put the butyl tape. Eternabond tape is a butyl tape but it seems thin. How thick was your butyl tape you used underneath ? Thanks
We bought this fan from etrailer also except we did not get the redmote control which was a huge mistake. The previous fan had the opening knob in a location where I could reach it above the cabover. The new fan has the opening knob in the far corner, so I can't reach it. It is a pain to ask hubby open and close it for me. Lesson learned...spring some extra cash for the remote control model. Hubby said he would replace ith but he sealed it in with eternabond tape and lap sealant. It would probably tear the roof to remove it.
Good videos been following y’all renovation looking good also not sure if your aware but there also other E sites I have used e appliance and have had a good experience
What did you screw into. Is there wood or steel behind all of that foam. As you are fixing up your RV, are you finding that you are disappointed in the Fleetwood quality?
I'm about to buy an Oliver fiberglass trailer and have wondered about what exactly I'd be drilling into as well. Love these guys and their videos and so look forward to their adventures!
Greg, the rubber roof membrane is vacuum sealed to a ¼ piece of plywood decking that is then layered on top of the insulation foam. When you mount an accessory like the Maxxfan I installed in this video you will be screwing directly into the roof decking. To speak to your build quality question.. I'm not necessarily disappointed in Fleetwood's build quality specifically. The factory build issues I'm finding could be found in any coach built by any manufacturer. With that said, be patient if you're buying a brand new unit & make sure to go with a manufacturer that has a good warranty program. I can vouch for Grand Design & we have friends that are happy with Winnebago. Other than that we don't have any experience with other manufacturers warranty programs. I really hope this helps! - Dennis ✌️
Mark, thank you so much! Check with the manufacturer of the trailer you're planning to buy regarding their build process & roof construction. Most of the manufacturers are pretty transparent when it comes to that sort of thing. If the trailer you're buying has a roof vent installed already, like our fleetwood did, you will just be replacing the factory vent with the maxfann. The roof vent holes should be standard 14" x 14", so any modern roof vent should fit without issue. Hope this helps! - Dennis ✌️
@@EatSeeRV Dennis thanks so much for the reply. Most RV's that I have seen have the vent areas framed in wood or aluminum. My 1994 Fleetwood Flair "An oldie but a goody" has the vent areas framed in steel, So when I saw yours as being framed in foam I had to question why they the did that. Once again thank's for your great video's.
Sorry but when you set the fan down into the vent slot (roof flange) it looks like it fit inside of the that part of the roof cover. No leaks? New guy to your channel. Cheers!
Hi welcome! Yeah, there's a gasket that the fan sits tightly down on when placed in the flange. No leaks as of yet. We are enjoying it so far! - Dennis ✌️
Do you still have and use the max fan? I’m kind of debating just saving up for a dometic rtx and the power to support that instead and having a couple of 12v fans and am auto slider windows in the meantime , since I’ve heard max fans run into frequent issues
Keep am eye on Amazon, it's not great as it once it used to be. They are really picky on returns now. It used to be free returns on anything for any reason, not any more. If you say your returning somethings because you don't like it, they charge you for shipping back the item. And if your returning a third party item, they won't take it back anymore until the selling company approves the return, which can take days because the selling company is in China. Recently web had to return something that turned out from from a third party, the discussion to return so long that we passed the return period (the seller took a long time to respond) and then Amazon refused to take it back. We called and talked to a manager and really fought back about it. They finally gave our money back. It's not a easy company to work with anymore. Buyer be ware.
Yikes, we haven't had any bad experiences with Amazon returns. But, we have noticed the charges for returns. Thanks for watching & sharing! - Dennis ✌️
Not sure we don't test temps. We've seen the thermostat read like 92 and the fan helps keep it cool but if it's hot it's hot. Just keeps air moving and helps cool it down a bit. It's essential for us because it does help for sure!
Eat See RV yes that what I meant to say eterna bond, I’m going to try putting the tape down first then seal over that. What do u think about that idea?
