No, they didnt think of everything because Gief right now is looking like the best character with literally 0 weaknesses. The engine helps him immensely.
He maintains oki off of grabs...lily and manon do not.
he has the best startup of all the grapplers at 5F whereas lily and manon are 7F
he has a near full screen wall bounce
he has combos from jab
his jabs are + frames where everyone elses are negative.

@@yourstillwithme that’s rather hyperbolic. The game is based around drive rush and burn out for plus frames. You’re supposed to use your drive rush or burn someone out to get those frames it’s not just openly available without meter. The plus frames you can get with parry into drive rush or burn out are much stronger than Giefs jabs anyway.

I would have liked the commentators a lot more if they implemented character specific commentary, like, tips and info about the match up, or certain attack properties like they usually say during some matches to teach the audience what is happening

Steve's Voice pack seems to be the most natural so far. one thing I notice is how offense is pretty equally scary with the acception of Guile (unless he got tuned).

This is great data! I'm gonna main JP for sure, so i've been watching as much footage of him as i can find. I think ideally we should be using Departure a lot more than shown; Can't think of any reason not to use it almost every time you successfully knock down the opponent. Triglav as well, I feel that should be the default tool for keeping space, with the Phantoms thrown in for colour. But like I said, thank you so much for the upload! Your work is appreciated
This is obviously just theorycraft at this point, but. For example, i noticed a lot of the time the JP in this video would score a knockdown that sent Gief nearly full screen, and instead of placing a departure, and getting the constant threat that that would bring, he went for Triglav. It makes more sense in my brain to place the departure and then start using Triglav/the Phantoms. That way it'd be harder for Gief to walk and parry like he did, cus he'd have to pay attention to the Departure, while also having to watch for JP's command grab. Add to that the threat of JP teleporting in and hitting Aerial buttons, or teleporting in empty and grabbing to catch predictive parries. Departure off knockdown seems like a much more beneficial situation than just using Pillar off the bat. Obviously ik y'all didn't have much time to learn the characters, i'm just trying to theorise cus i'm literally dying for any SF6 content. And theorizing about it is better than nothing 🙃

Both of these characters are scary man, JP finna keep me full screen and Zangief finna take 1/3 of my health for one mistake lol. Good gameplay as always dude, even if I’m scared they still are pretty dope.

I was first really excited watching JP's level 2 (the mixup possibilities!) but after watching this match, I feel in the future/at higher level it will be mostly used for combos OR when your opponent is in burnout, or else people will just parry and negate everything.... whats the worst that could happen? Take 1 throw? Thats a win for the defender IMO
Mix on block isn’t the way (drive reversal as well could punish comital options) but resets are still on the table. Punish counter throws are no joke either the damage is solid and JPs throws make big distance and time to set up

Haha I don't think it's as good as you think, it's very slow, but is good for beating parry. He needs it to keep you honest, otherwise you can parry everything.
You're Zangief was a threat frfr. But I really enjoyed watching the JP player slowly start figuring out a gameplan over the course of the set! I can imagine someone who's labbed the set-ups with him, is gonna be real annoying to get next to.

Gief looks good but I am a bit worried about his anti airs and wake up game. I saw a lot of anti air lariat attempts get stuffed. What else does he have to anti air with? I wonder how st.jab or cr.HP will do?
Also I have no idea how he gets up in this game under pressure. Hopefully a couple of his supers have frame 1 invincibility or armor, because I doubt any of his specials do. =/
That all being said, still super hyped for his evolution in SF6 and can't wait to play him!
Yea cr.hp actually looks pretty good. I just didn't get a chance to use it.
Also, ex lariat has some invincibility I believe, so could potentially be a reversal 🤷🏾♂️

Perfect parry into spd is not a great idea, it seems. Damage is low and it leaves you too far from the opponent.

Yeah the damage reduce is real after the parry, maybe an OD grab could fix that.

@@misterStevePikk I saw matches where you need the drive rush to get close. Like flawlessDeku said the one with the kick is better. Russian suplex leaves you closer but it's slower. You can just walk.

tfw jp struggling lmao. I notice the Level 2 you can hit him out of it and it deactivates it. Also it doesn't look like you can teleport using Departure once its off screen (makes sense.) I think his normals are probably going to be more ideal to use until you get them full screen.

the JP cpu seems like it is the worst one. Probably because setup requires actual thinking and other cpus can react to JP setting up instantly. I just hope this character isn't as bad as he looks

Lariat doesn't seem like the SF IV one....normal version didn't work as AA and EX didn't work against crossups. Glad about that cos you could literally never jump in on a Gief in SFIV

I always found going into lariat from ducking position had most success in sf 4

@@thegentlexylophone yeah, HPB seems like the most apt comparison. Effectively opens a 90 degree box to grab (I assume this is less gracious though) but you need a certain height/number of frames before you get the grab.
