We need to keep donato for the culture. Hes such a hard worker.
Yeah he is really good with this team. I really do hope he resigns with the Hawks but with him having a good season with us he does have trade value and we can get a younger player like Donato. Both options aren’t bad for creating a culture.

starring elsewhere. Panarin, Debrincat, on and on. I wish the GM would put his foot down and not trade Donato, Bertuzzi, and Soderblom. 🤔

I get the feeling Donato wants to explore free agency either for the money, or for an opportunity to play for playoffs found team to pursue a Stanley cup. He can always play for a playoff team and resign with Blackhawks as a free agent for more money than he would get at other teams. Dickerson is great but he’s over paid. Mrázek is playing well but he’s over paid Filigno is 37 years old is our captain but he’s over paid all three of those guys come off the books next year I think they can offer 28 yr old Donato a good paying two-year contract when he becomes a free agent 1 July. Out of the three veterans we signed last January 2024 Dickinson is the one I would keep and re-sign again. Expensive Foligno will retire, expensive Mrázek could be traded over summer with the emergence of SoderBloom, and Commesso. Next year‘s cap space will not be a problem. We can resign Donato as a free agent and still get a draft pick this trade deadline. I think the Hawks already offered him a contract and he has not decided to sign it.

Lol he's not gonna be the goal scorer Hagel is. No chance. But I think he'll be a very important 3rd line player on this team.
Not sure Slaggert becomes a point per game player and 30+ scorer
@@CarmeloCaldarella-n1e You base BH's PPG on this season alone. Career-wise he is 0.76 PPG. Just say'n. Also, did any of us expect BH to do what he has done? Anything is possible with Slaggert.
Sorry Geoff……We keep 86 on a contract for the next three years and second on the team in points: we have three or four forward roster spots to fill for next year with Smith, Maroon and Kurashev gone. Last year we offered three players a contract in January that were deserving. Maybe the Hawks want to trade Donato for an asset and try and re-sign him as a free agent in the summer. Maybe Donato was offered a contract and turned it down, hoping to go to a contender in his prime. Good question for some one with insider information to see if they can straight up ask Donato. We trade/don’t resign 36 yr old defenseman Martinez on expiring contract with Korchinski, waiting in the wings.
From the starting roster this year, with 14 forward positions to fill in 2025/26 year. Smith maroon Kurashev, Anthonaseau Anderson Hall perhaps Donato can be subtracted. Right now Nazar and Slaggert will take two of those spots. Perhaps Donato will come back. At least 4 spots left for quality free agents that hopefully.GMKD can sign. Moore, Greene, Lardis,Spellacy, and others may get a look this Spring but should stay in juniors, Russia or college or start in Rockford next year. I wouldn’t even let them play this Spring if it burns a year of eligibility. None of them are ready.

Moore for Leonard with donato as the sweetener 100%. power forward type plays with an edge and also a better player than Moore, I make that trade all day long. I do think if the hawks trade donato this is the type of trade they should make rather than go for picks.
would rather trade 86 or 25 instead of 8...kid plays hard every shift and could be a leader next year....86 is soft and no leadership skills
So Donato #8 is really good for us this season. That means his trade value is higher. Martinez #25 is going to be traded anyway. Even though his value is lower. It would open a spot for a young player. #86 teuvo teravainen is a good player to keep. He’s in his prime and we signed him more than 1 year. Plus Teuvo was with the 2015 Blackhawks. He’s not soft. It’s the defensive that’s soft.

What? You don’t trade a leader like Foligno. We’re not giving the C to Connor yet. Out of all the veterans that have been a liability to the team. Nick has been a leader for years and he understands his role. Others veterans haven’t. They have wasted our time turning over the puck and getting paid to play shit hockey. Donato could stay or get traded for a good deal but we are not disrespecting our Captain by trading him.
