    Every day he strays farther and farther from sanity, the keyboards consume him, one day he will become the keyboard

    Oh my gosh, the funeral setting at position 16:40 ...
    You can't appear at a funeral with an organ that colourful and named "Genie" - which comes with a button called "Harmony Magic". Just imagine a little girl in front of the organ, asking with hope in her tear-dimmed eyes: "Can Genie bring back nanna with her magic?" Some things simply are too cruel to imagine. Almost ;-)!
    What a great little organ from the 70s, packed with features. You really can do professional stuff with despite the fancy colours. For 40 pound I've never heard anything better. As always, thank you for showing and all the best :-)!

      I may install a ‘More Nanna’ slider, which will increase the smell of stale biscuits.

    The sounds an effects were so hard fought for, I can imagine the discussion between the designers vs bean counters, “You need how many pcbs, transistors, capacitors, etc. and yet someone thought it was worth bringing these keyboards to market. Thank goodness they did, thank you for bringing them to our attention.

      The Magic Genie has an Intel 48 processor and very little PCBs. It is one of the first digital keyboard organs!

      I didn’t know that, although I presume the voices are still generated by analogue circuits?

    Ms Revolta's opening sequence to the presentation above is a stunning example of truly revolutionary personal third party perspective.
    She is clearly someone to watch out for - a staggering talent.

    Oooh I love the off-limits areas of charity shops. My favourite accordion, a beautiful 1930s Frontalini, was £50 from under the stairs at the Nomad Trust, and my under-reconstruction portable reed organ was £25 from the display shelf of a St Barnabas shop - after I had emailed _very_ politely and asked if they would consider selling it. I still try and sneak a look into the back room of any charity shop I visit, just in case!

      In my dreams I try to visit an ever growing charity shop that I can never quite reach… or find. I went there once and almost bought an enormous organ made of black painted wrought iron (in a dream)

    Very cool. Repeat with sustain turned on sounded like kind of like a delay effect with feedback turned up. Neat timbres from the left hand side too. Definitely covers harmonium type-sounds.

    Absolutely wonderful, and the magic aspect of the Genie bass does make me want to get up and "cut a rug." I was always super or supremo--envious of anyone who could actually find one of those supremo-rare Genie accessories, the acousti-thon, which the player wears upon their bean like head. The idea, I think, was to absorb musical energy back into the player's conscious id, and also to eliminate that embarrassingly doggone nutty echo that occurs so often when one sits on the organ bench. If I am not horrifically mistaken, I think that the acousti-thon may also have had theremin capabilities (although that was the acousti-thon-XL). Wearers of the acousti-thon would grasp their wig-like apparatus to unleash a cavalcade of inspiring and witty tunes.

    • @VintageKeysStudio
      @VintageKeysStudio  Місяць тому +1

      I wish I could find an Acousti-thon. Even better would be the pro XL Gold version, the Acousti-thong, which reduced the wig wearing drudgery by installing the device into a tiny pair of musical panties.

    I do enjoy our films and vintage keyboard demo’s. Back in the mid 60’s l wanted a WEM Telstar organ ( as used by the Fortunes etc. ) for use in my band, ( up-grading from an amplified harmonium! ) ln the end l bought a s/h Vox Continental which was a good choice before the later Hammond chapters. If you ever find one of these it would be great to see/hear how they compare to the Continental please. A grey show. Thank you.

    The "NC" button lol how do you spell that haha.
    That turns off the bass chords.
    I'm a drummer but I own one of these. I got it for $1 at a yard sale about 20 years ago. Still works great except two of the keys cut in and out periodically.

    • @VintageKeysStudio
      @VintageKeysStudio  Рік тому +1

      I have never opened this one up - first check the fuse in the mains plug. If that’s ok, there is likely going to be one or more glass fuses inside, and these will be located near the power transformer where the mains lead feeds into. Be careful - make sure it’s all unplugged if you take the cover off

    I wandered lonely as a cloud
    Up hill and under heath.
    And all at once I came across
    the rotten swine who pinched my teeth.
    I said “you CAD I’m off my food! What I like has to be chewed.
    Like crusty bread and bacon rashers”.
    He said “bog off” and kept mi gnashers.
