- When it comes to freeze dryer carts, there are many to choose from. I have done all of the research for you to find the most durable, best quality cart for the best price. This is the VEVOR rolling utility cart. It's around $120, it will hold up to 550 lbs. (suitable for small, medium and large freeze dryers) and it is great quality. It can be assembled in 5 minutes with a drill and a wrench. Best of all the cart shelf is fully enclosed to keep spills contained and you can drill holes through the shelves to run your drain hose, power cords, vacuum hoses etc. The bottom shelf is great for storage of extras and the cart also has nice big caster wheels to move your freeze dryer anywhere you want it to go.

Since my freeze dryer has a permanent location, I went with a 30"x48" table. In 20/20 hindsight, I wish I had gotten a 30"x60" table in order to have room for the trays to land going into or coming out of the freeze dryer.
The tables are great also. I am fortunate enough to have enough room in my freeze drying area to do both.
Word of warning!
That cart looks similar to the ULine cart that I used for my Medium FD'er but it had the flat top instead of the recessed tray top. Over time the plastic cracked and the top bowed, if I left it the the FD'er would have fallen thru the top. Simple fix was I cut a piece of plywood the same size as the top and set my FD'er on that which saved the cart and I didn't have to do any other preventive measures which was great, but be warned that plastic will crack and bow over time.
You spend 5000 on equipment and put it on a discount cart. I beefed up my support when the legs buckled and almost tipped over. My first cart was also rated for 500 lbs
I have had a large 6 tray on a 3M cart for years( I lifted it with a hand crank in the rafters). I do not recommend putting the large dryer directly on the cart surface, after time the plastic grid gets weak and damaged the plastic. It now sits on the cart on top of 1×4 boards putting weight on the outside edges of the cart. It might work ok for smaller dryers but they are very expensive to gamble on plastic. I have a cart from Home Depot: "DuraMax 72 in. x 24 in. 3-Drawers Rolling Industrial Mobile Workbench Cabinet and Wood Top" currently on sale for $398. It has a steel frame and a nice wood top. The wheels are large are it rolls very nicely with my medium and large freeze driers on it. Weight limit is 300 lbs. Enough drawers for the medium but the large freeze drier trays don't fit in the drawers. I have to store them in boxes on the bottom shelf. The shelf on the bottom holds all my oil and other supplies.
Looks like a good option, and similar to carts I have seen used by techs in data centers, curious they have a 2 and 3 shelf design, would you recommend one over the other? The extra shelf could be handy for more storage of supplies, but do you think it would allow enough space for drain bucket and vacuum pump?

Do you need to flash freeze cooked meats first in a blast chiller before putting in freeze drying machine?
Or is vacuum drying with a vacuum dryer after flash freeze in blast chiller enough to do .

What is the difference,
You can just prefreeze in a deep freeze or just put them directly into the freeze dryer. The first cycle in freeze drying will get food to -30 degrees.

The only solution for me is to design the cart in SketchUp and then built it myself as I have specific requirements which no off the shelf cart in the world can meet. Good luck to whatever everyone selects as a choice. One thing is for sure, you definitely need a cart imho.
THANK YOU for this recommendation, I had a table that was in tall and every time I needed to read the screen I had to get on a step stool. I have a Stay Fresh until and the unit fit perfectly with the pump behind the unit. The cart is very sturdy. Thanks again

@@rondasmuck165 Yes, and three others I went through. I had two metal ones, and a plastic one. After spending over 500 for all those carts which were supposed to handle the weight, over time they did not. :( I finally purchased a workbench desk from Sam's that handles 1000 pounds, and I put wheels on it. GAME changer.

So if you're drilling holes into the cart would that change the weight it can handle? I'm guessing it could depend on where you drill...
I think most of the structural integrity is from the reinforced webbing underneath. I would drill from the bottom in order to miss those and also go as close to a corner as possible.
Great cart. My Avid Armor vacuum sealer is on one. Makes moving around the kitchen or garage/shed when needed in various locations.
