- Orchestras sustain, pianos decay. Hence, when transcribing pieces in which the orchestra/chorus grows through long sustained notes you have to get imaginative... at least this is my justification for the extra counterpoints and embellishments I've added 😅 At any rate I wanted to convert Mozart's beautiful composition into a piano piece with pianistic figuration, so it's not a strict transcription but perhaps a piano re-imagining.

Lacrimosa from Mozart's Requiem (arr. Luke Faulkner)
#mozart #lacrimosa #classicalmusic
Luke is not a pedal hooligan, not going nuts on the sustain pedal. Nothing to prove, other than finessing the work as he channels it through himself. Such a gift in this New Year. Luke needs a children's choir piece.
Rien de plus horrible qu'une voix ou dix qui accompagne une composition au piano, cela gâche tout !
Haha - thanks so much! I hear the orchestral version in my mind whenever I play this, so everything follows suit.
Wow, such a beautifully done piano arrangement of Lacrimosa! One of my favorites now for sure. I got chills while listening to it, especially knowing the sad story behind this piece. Bravo, Luke! 👏👏👏
Thank you so much! The background certainly makes it even more poignant.
That is stunningly powerful! Thanks, Luke!
Thank you, Roger! Glad you enjoyed it!
Would have never thought this piece could sound so good without a choir or orchestration, excellent performance!
Thanks so much, Joseph!
Beautiful ! 🌻
Amazing as always
Thank you, Neda!
An absolute masterpiece you are a modern genius perhaps born in the wrong era but at least us folks get to enjoy your new work. Everything from your arrangement, the performance, the dress sense, the lighting, and of course the majestic setting was utter perfection, pure art which is so lacking in the world these days. I think Mozart will be having a party along with Schubert and his other pals listening to this despite it being a requiem!! A thousand well done's and congratulations on this!
Mate, I'm blushing now! Thanks, Korn 🥰
Simply wonderful. Bravo. Bravo
Thanks so much, Diane!
Beautiful 👌 keep up the hard work
Thank you! Will do :)
Bellissimo 🎹
Grazie!
This is really one of the best versions of Lacrimosa on the piano that I have ever heard!! Good job Luke!! I was impressed!!❤❤
That's so kind of you to say, Konstantina! Thank you 🥰
Bravo 👏
Thank you, Alexandre!
You did a great job with the arrangement as always, glad to hear you play one of my favorite Mozart pieces. Where was this recorded?
Since this wonderful work of Mozart was unfinished, it totally opens it up to artistic poetry and prose! You took the orchestral version and embellished fantastically upon it...very interesting when you picked up the pace and began use of staccato to give it a whole different flavor! Your crossover work is insane! LOVED this and how you wove all those intricasies together!! I also did my own version of this and recorded here on YT some years ago. Mine is not as ornate as yours, but transcribed from the standard orchestral version with my own tiny embellishments and a different ending. BRAVO Luke! You are a fantastic pianist and composer!!! ~Jackie
Thank you so much, Jackie - I'll have to have a listen to yours!
Very nice.
Performed with great skill Luke
Thanks, SP!
❤
Beautiful!! Bravooo, bravooo 👏👏👏⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️
Aww - thank you!
Pure magic!
Thank you!
I heard this on Classic FM recently, so nice to hear your arrangement 😁
Stunning!!! ❤
You have the most beautiful backdrops
This is a stunning arrangement! Well done sir, very well done.
Thank you so much, Derek!
Just bought the sheets for this. I usually never buy sheet music but this was an exception! Wonderful arrangement!
Thanks so much, Bennett! Hope you enjoy playing it!
Sublime!!! Thank you!!
a really outstanding transcription as well as interpretation for the passionate work. It feels like what Rachmaninoff would sound like if he did it. but for sure you brought a fresh breeze for the well-known work. Bravissimo
Lacirmosa never fails to give me goosebumps! Love the treatment! I must confess when I first heard your single, I didn't understand some of the choices that you made within the music but loved the fact that it was different. Having read your explanatory notes I understand now and appreciate your version all the more. Not to be ghoulish but often when I contemplate my mortality, I also think of what music I'd like to sent off with. 😂 I'm not much for religious trappings but I can see myself drifting off with this! Thanks Luke. It's always a pleasure to listen to you. Ros 🥰 PS Hope you were not badly affected by the recent tornados and storms.
Thanks so much, Ros! Haha - admittedly, I was concerned the arrangement might seem a bit "out-there" so I'm happy to hear you enjoyed it 😊
@@LukeFaulkner Always Luke! Any chance of a new upload or fim premier anytime soon. I think I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms! 😱 Hee! Hee! Hee!
Wow!
What a gorgeous another Mozart!
I appreciate if you tell us the names of beautiful places you show.
♡
The peice and play was Astonishing! Is this peice longer? Or it was all?
That's all for the time being, I'm afraid! I hope to get around to arranging the full Requiem at some point.
1:13 very Lisztian moment
What is this location?
It's amazing, as always... YOU are amazing ! 🤩
Watching you perform in this video, I thought to myself: "Oh, but he hasn't changed between the first videos and now! " 😲 The videos you posted 5 years ago, you know, the ones in that magnificent place where you played Swan Lake and Pas De Deux, or the ones under the wisteria 🥰: same short haircut with those pretty curls, same face (although yes, you have changed a bit: your movements are more fluid, you're more at ease than before, but I've already told you that ;) and well done again 👌😉, by the way).
So, here's my analysis: either you have exceptional "beauty capital", inherited from your parents (lucky you!!), or you're a vampire 🤔... and an alien 👽, because to play as well as you do, you have to be a bit alien! So, I look forward to hearing your explanation .... 😄😘
👌A secret vampire at night from time to time, and an alien with an exceptional "beauty capital" who work hard in the day.. On tient un scenario Manon!
@@Anne-Sophie- hahaha, ouais ! Elles ont de l’imagination les françaises ! 😁😁😁🥳
@@manonstefanik1790Oui! Ou alors c'est Pluton en Verseau dans ma 5e maison (créativité) qui commence à agir! 😄 🌘 🌟
Now you mention it I might be a vampire - I live in an old house with bats, seldom see sunlight, and I blast out Classical music during the night.
