Sadly the world is PC only. Went to show my questie friends it a few times so they could check out the quest compatible samples in it. Ended up having to go myself, put on each avatar, leave, then let them clone the samples to try for themselves.
Loved the video, Parzeval. Yes, Runa is very popular, a favourite amongst many of my friends, and glad you made a video on its creator and styles. Awesome! 😃
I've been using Runa for almost a year now and I absolutely love them! There's not many decent looking robot avatars out there, and the fact that Runa is customizable AND modular to such a great extent, it makes them even better! Besides the TF2 Pilots made by Swagguy47, Runa has been my go-to main.
I've bought the special edition tori sold for a month called ruruh (runa body with a raruh head swap), because when I saw her pop up on booth I immediately fell on love with her. I thought about using a runa for a while now, but ruruh completely sold it for me. After editing her a bit with some runa parts, she became my main avi and I have the feeling that won't change for a long time. Robot supremacy! 💜
I just realized how genius this series is. As soon as he makes a video about an avi, he can justify writing off the cost for the avi as business expense.
@@Parzeval Ok, Ill explain how it works... I mean its really just accounting 101 to get those write-offs: It works the same way you partially (or however it works in your country) write off PC hardware upgrades, software etc., because they are required for making your videos, as a business expense. Now comes the spice. The idea would be, that through this avi series you can justify to buy all the cute avis, you would have liked to have anyways, as business expense, since they are required for videos now. Cuz 3d models are a very niche thing, no tax authority would recon they'd be used privately ever when auditing the books. You can easily get away with writing them as 100% business expense without it looking sus. Also, you'd purchase or commission all the clothes and edits you want before that video too, so you can show it and therefore reason the business expense for that as well. And those can get expensive. At least here in Germany, that's how I would do it. Fk taxes lol.
because runa have joints like a robot. you can separate parts of legs and hands in unity. that can let you make animations where you can grab your own hand and use it as a baton.
Also, i have to add: Runa IS NOT a NSFW avatar. Despite having official assets created by the author, that are literal genitalia for her, its completely possible to create any type of customization with her without any NSFW parts. So she's great to just wander around in public lobbys. I've seen a lot of people having a bit of concern of her because of this, when in reality, she's totally fine
I've been asked to change out of my Runa before in a public because of the "connotations" I guess. And my Runa has a suit vest on and the buttplates removed lmao
@@brikaro1 can relate. I use my Runa with the official Hoodie from Torinyan + a really long skirt on her and people still think im using an "ERP avatar"
@@brikaro1 Hah. The other night, we were a couple Runas at a PG-13 event and nobody told us anything, but friend of ours with some sort of tube bra was asked to change because it showed too much "skin". Go figure...
I'm surprised you missed a very important element: the Quest version of the Runa is free! You mention it can be bought, but it should've been option C to become a Runa. You're even allowed to upload Quest Runa as a Public avi. Another thing: VRChat has been more severe with public uploads of copyrighted avatars, so it's getting harder and harder to find a base through Prismic. I'd recommend looking for official samples, but they're not always available...
@@Fastolph- true! Completely forgot to mention it’s free. Usually VRChat Avatar Creators do have official samples but I wasn’t sure about RUNA specifically.
i reccomend against option b (02:45) since torinyan themselves have said they are against people making public uploads of their avatars, even states so in the terms of use when buying the avatar... the same as most other booth creators.
This is true. It's in general against avatar creators TOS/TOU to publish paid avatars. Torinyan has made a free optimized Quest version of Runa called Potato Runa. I can recommend that for anyone that still wants to try it out, and upload simple edits publicly that is within their tos.
I'm new to Avatar uploading and don't really know how to go about editing the avi to make it unique and more "mine", it's actually the only thing stopping me from buying it tbh. Any suggestions on where to look for advice?
Calling the assets compatible is strong words, calling it quest compatible is a joke, and frankly misleading, and you didn't even mention the fact that the average VRchat users cost to put together a Runa with the desired addons is over 200 dollars USD. this is an avatar that i have turned away SEVERAL commissions for, because it's frankly a nightmare to work with. i know this model inside and out, i re-worked it from the ground up to be 100% VRCFury modular (something I've done with plenty of other models i regularly use) 3 times in a row, and to be quite frank, i never wanna touch the damn thing again, i only keep it around for when friends want me to work my magic, and i charge extra because of how terrible it is to work with.
In parts, they are compatible. You mean that for example, Body parts & legs, you have to remove these from the main base in Blender, I reckon? From the assets I purchased Tori-Nyan adds an extra tutorial for specifically these assets. Also, Assets always cost extra, for every avatar that I did a video on. I do get your point that it might not be easy to work with that type of avatar, but personally I think the main base itself is simple to work with. The Quest Compatible Version is free to use, there's no need to work on that than else having to change unity to support android. Nothing misleading here, I very much do understand your point though.
@@Parzeval The main avatar itself, yes, however the reason I've re-worked the avatar several times is because EVEN WITH the addition of VRC constraints, the last time i worked with the avatar, every single asset uses constraints, even when they didn't need to. the tutorials are comprehensive yes, but are incredibly non user friendly compared to just dragging and dropping an asset in with Fury. plus the fact that if you don't install all of the unity packages you think you might use before starting work, you WILL have to go in and edit things yourself, as many assets are not separated for modularity, and only get patched with the additional packages. and frankly, on a personal basis, being told to "get good" by the creator of the avatar for mentioning i used VRCFury and then banned for defending myself on the grounds of not wanting to spend hours and hours animating and digging through FX layers is not a good look. that being said, while your review covers the main avatar itself very well, it might be a good idea to mention there's a premium for almost every single addon or accessory.
@@Parzeval Absolutely! thank you so much. price point, features, and ease of use are the FIRST thing i as both a player, and asset creator look for when working with a model
You pretty much just described the usual experience for working on any booth model and getting stuff like clothes, I've never had any issues working with the model or following the basic tutorials. Also, expecting things to be set up with a 3rd party script thats been known to break projects if not used carefully is pretty unrealistic tbh, VRCFury is nice and all but I'd rather be able to just fall back on doing stuff manually if something in it's automation process stops working on any given update.
Torinyan has a public world that has some of their avatars available for testing before purchase called "Torinyan hangout" by Runya~
