you need to recognise the inherent flaw in the Hudson Bay tin and its lens, if you store hard items in there you need to put a piece of cloth, thin piece of leather or amadou on top of the items to protect the lens from getting scratched. I use my Hudson Bay tin only for storing char cloth, amadou and charga, that way I don't risk scratching the lens.

The glass in this kit will make an ember in char Cloth on a sunny Day in less then 2 seconds! I just tried mine today.. Amazing tin and Awesome magnifying Glass
