wow the tone on both is just a treat, Moonspruce is much more warmer in tone plus with the mahogany , and brighter on the spruce plus mahogany... its really nice to have them both for the feels you want
I've own a OM-40R Sitka and OM-40R custom with Moon Spruce. The Moon (Alpine) spruce is brighter, but I actually prefer the depth of tone of the Sitka.
Can definitely hear more clarity on moonspruce
The moon spruce sounds clearer and more controlled, but the Sitka sounds more lively and responsive. They both sound great. Seemed like it required more man-handling and effort to get the response he wanted when playing the moon spruce. Glad I watched this before buying a Larrivee with a moon spruce top.

Moon Spruce wins...but both good. Notes sound so good, clear and sweet. Would love to see a comparison between Moon Spruce and Adirondack Spruce though

I think the Sitka is more punchy lively bright focused powerful. Really pairs with the mahogany & prefer it but wonder how this would be on a rosewood guitar???? Anyone do this??? Moonspruce for fingers appeals to my ears over the sitka but sita is best as a strummer. Wante d to like the MS but the sitka came out on top most of the time.

Yep, after a second listen, to me, Sitka has far more color/flavor/character. I honestly don’t get the moon spruce craze that’s been going on lately.
Moonspruce only means that the tree has been cut according to the moon phase (it can perfectly be Sitka itself), which is what has been always done in the past for all the types of trees (and for all kinds of sowing and harvesting too), for the simple reason that the sap content of the wood changes with the moon phases, and seasoning is affected by it.
It is quite strange to me to think that there is non-moon spruce around to make guitars, unless it comes from an already dead tree which is not affected by moon phases anymore.
I am sure that the valuable italian red spruce from Val di Fiemme is always and obviously moon cut.

@@MOAB-UT The only difference is that random cut spruce needs more seasoning, moon cut spruce (tree cut in new moon) needs less seasoning because it has less sap in it in the first place.
Yes Sitka has the more rounded sound it's all personal tho....maybe the moon was more jazzy suited
What kind of price difference was there between these models?
Sitka always sounds muted to me. Adirondack is my favorite. The moon sounds similar but not as good to me.
