I hope you healing well and feeling better. The last of them were pulled in April. I am getting full top and bottom dentures. There was some complications that have delayed things. I should be able to have my impressions soon. The poor dentist he pulled the last of them. I am crying in the chair so he had to stop pulling them. He was very gentle and doing his best. It was hard for me. To accept that pieces of myself. Are now in garbage cans. It does get better it just takes time. Be patient with yourself.

Thank you but that idea of saving every tooth till the last one standing has got me no help at all from the last 3 dentists I have seen. Just want them out and simple dentures. Been told different things by each dentist trying to make sure they can sell me everything they can. No I dont want my teeth cleaned, gums cut opened and all that jazz just to save a couple of teeth that will fall out soon anyways. No I dont want to buy a bridge now just so in a few months to year when my other like 4 teeth come loose and fall out I have to buy dentures anyways. No I dont want to be sick and in pain while I get them pulled one at a time on worse case basis. Each examples of what I am dealing with from different dentists. As I sit and type almost every tooth in my mouth wiggles. Each time I turned down the treatment they are pushing and tried to explain what I want I was instantly treated cold and sent off to find the next dentist. I got insurance I got the cash for everything it doesnt cover. I know my teeth are a bad investment they need to go.

How are you doing?? Did you get them pulled yet?? I had mine done in February. My dentist didn’t want to pull them all. He wanted to do partial. I convinced him too pull them all. The infection spread to bone in my jaw. So it was only matter of time before. It would have caused life threatening complications. You sound like the very same situation is happening to you. Which I do understand they want to save them if possible. But as you and I know eventually you reach point. Where they just can’t be saved. I really hope you can find dentist that will listen to you. Pull them and give you dentures.

@@angelaschaefer5883 Have an appointment set for the 24th of this month. Still dealing with the pain and discomfort every day. No clue the run around I might get from this dentist but hopeful. At this point they are just milking my insurance but I guess thats what its for to them to abuse and cost us all more.

Hey! My husband had really messed up teeth from a bad accident at 17, knocking out lots of top teeth and damaging otheres. His parents did not have $ to help. He also had epilepsy and Crohn’s. So, Many of the harsh medications helped ruin his teeth. When we met he had some super cheap, old worn down top denture and what there was of his bottom teeth were worn nubs with a few front lowers that were ok and visible when talking. Honestly I never noticed. It was over a year later before he brought it to my attention. He was VERY self conscious about it. We could not afford to do anything about it until 15 years later. Total cost for all the visits and the full set was $2,700. This was in 2017, Central IL. He went to a small dentist who specialized in Prosthodontics. Like Dr Langdon here. With “standard” dentist we ran into the same thing as you. Go to a Prosthodontics if AT ALL possible. They understand stuff regular dentist do not. We told him right upfront we could not afford much. And we had garbage credit., so no financing. We just needed him to rip out what was left in his mouth and get full dentures. He pulled all the teeth. This was difficult as my husband was beaten repeatedly throughout childhood by his drunken father. This built up incredibly strong bone in his jaw. This dentist was a strong man, body builder for fun, and was dripping with sweat and exhausted by the end. Said my husband had the toughest bone he had ever delt with. Now that part is highly unusual, so please understand it’s specific to my husband. Hubby had to heal for 4 months to let swelling go down and bone & tissues find their “new normal”. He had to wear a temp set of dentures when around people. Pls realize- these temp ones won’t fit well - there is no way they can because your tissues are a mess from the removal. So expect an awkward and uncomfortable period for healing. He then got fitted for the permanent dentures and we picked a color that was not overly white since he was 55 at the time. Picked the shape of teeth - with guidance from the dentist. They did an excellent job with the set. Looked so natural. He was very happy he could truly smile for the first time since he was 17. Broke my heart. He had to teach himself to smile naturally for our daughter’s wedding. All he could do was bare his teeth, like a grimace. Since 17, he only did closed lip smiles. Now, it’s 4+ years since he got the dentures. Unfortunately he need to be refitted. His chronic disease issues have caused changes and the dentures don’t fit fell anymore. Makes eating difficult. He also has some flaps of gum that need to be cut off. So, no things aren’t perfect. Dentures never are. It’s a like long process. He did fing a good product inline to help cushion the fit a bit better. Name brand is “Secure” adhesive strips. He cuts them to fit better. He also uses their paste and good old powdered FIXODENT combined. He found a bunch of online different dentures forums and scourged them for real user product recommendations. I wish you the best of luck. It’s a difficult journey. I wanted to share what he went through in case it can help you or others.

Thank you. I had to choose between dentures and implants. At age 78, with multiple diseases, dentures are probably my wisest choice. The VA will be happy to hear that, too!

I realize you have a lot of other health issues. Hopefully I don't upset you. Are you considered fully disabled by the VA ??? If you are you would have easier time getting implants. Your primary care doctor. Can recommend that implants are medically necessary. In my husbands case he isn't considered fully disabled. By the VA. So any dental for him they won't cover at all. In your case getting implants so you can eat easily. Should be the top priority. The only catch is qualifying is not easy.

Thanks so much. This is the most thorough and compassionate explanation I’ve heard and seen. I wish I had met with you or someone like years ago. Three dentist and all I received was to extract the t teeth… and I’m not blaming anyone for my own habits. But had I met someone who even partially like their job, I would have made a few changes to my habits and lifestyle. I love to smile and I do, gap tooth and all!

Hellon Doctor. Can you put the color cover on your white chair because your white robe blends into the chair and make you look very large 400 lbs when you are not that big. TY

I have Parkinson’s Disease and a swallowing disorder. Will dentures vs implant be a factor that will have to be chlorinated between my dentist and my neurologist?

I have to admit… I only take my teeth out to clean them, then right back in… 🫣🫣🫣I have never had any infection… my gums and mouth are healthy… 20+ years… I don’t take them out except to clean them… 😁😁😁
