This is a special record. At this time in 1967, the Boys were doing records for the Canaan label. If you listen to their "Up Tempo" album (released also in 1967), you find very similar comparisons in the instrumental accompaniment, as well as the sound production. You can actually play both "Up Tempo" and "Golden Favorites" side by side and not hear much difference between the two.
This album was also the last record produced for the SWORD label. By all indications, this was WORD Record's attempt to run a budget label. The content tended to be reissues of Word or Canaan albums, the artwork was minimal and of the "cut and paste" variety, and the graphics were sometimes sloppy. Vinyl was...ahem...less than stellar.
The Sword Records which operated from 1964-1967 was apparently a subsidiary of Word Records in Waco, Texas. It should not be confused with the Sword Records started in the 1970s by the Mark Five company.
