I have a severe heart condition that requires me to have surgeries often. I was asked one day by the anesthesia team if I'd like to fall asleep to a song before my surgery. I was so excited... You never know if you're going to wake up after a surgery, so I requested Into the Mystic by Van Morrison. It's the only song I thought worthy of falling asleep to if I was never going to wake up.
Mind... Blown!! Van Morrison has some of the best written lyrics and musical composition of anything out there... On the level of great😃 opera, in it's own right!! And man... Van's voice!! That combination of raspy and smooth, hitting all the notes clear as a bell🔔... Used to sing THIS at the top of my lungs when my voice could still carry it😢 HE IS in a class by himself!! "Let your Soul and Spirit fly, Into the Mystic..."🙏
When Van was growing up in Northern Ireland as a boy he would hurry home to hear his idol, Ray Charles. Van wanted to be a crooner, a song writer and create music that moved people's souls and I believe he has reached these goals
He was a huge fan of Ray and also american rock and blues. He does a duet of Please Don't Go, with John Lee Hooker and the song Domino is a a tribute to the legendary Antione " Fats' Domino

A few years ago Van was asked by some Music Journalist what he thought about Astral Weeks now that its decades old... Van thought for a moment and answered... My wedding was on Winter Solstice and my husband and I were married by my friend, who is an incredible psychic medium who has been a huge part of my own spiritual journey. My husband and I are what you call "Twin Flames". Our wedding was very small, only consisting of my friend, her husband, my mother, my sister and the photographer. We got married on a rooftop balcony in the mountains. Because the house was small, I didn't think we would have our wedding dance; I had imagined we would dance together in our honeymoon suite later that evening, alone. @@sammybeck7794 That's right. I have a question on the lyrics that you perhaps you could answer? Usually the first line reads "We were born before the wind ..." But isn't that "We were borne ... "? I mean: "borne" means "carried". Wasn't a bonnie boat a small vessel with which the sailors from a large ship were carried towars the harbour? "Also younger than the sun" would then mean that it happened before dawn? Just some thoughts. And ofcourse there's a deeper meaning in "into the mystic" - wherever that is ... into love, into eternity, into sexuality? And so on.
We watch you because you are amazing at your job. And to see you enjoy music that we love is a joy to watch. Witnessing someone opening up their mind to new things is amazing!

Hey Polo, we watch because you’re authentic and you are the real deal with genuine, honest opinions on music. Sometimes I watch your reactions and I love it so much I watch it again with my wife. Lol Well done bro!
I’m a 70 year old woman. I was in High School from 1969-1971 and you’re tapping into my favorite songs from that era. I had the privilege of seeing some of the greats from that time live, including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Led Zeppelin, Jethro Tull & Van Morrison to name a few. It’s a real treat for me to listen to your program and watch you experience this music. Thank you.
You are so openminded. You find the pieces I have forgotten. You remind me why the music makes us feel. You are the guy I want to listen to music with because you both validate and challenge my taste, and sometimes make me see a song I was not too impressed with as a youngster in a new light, and my opinions change. Now there is more love in the music we all get to share because of you. Your time is a gift, the most valuable gift of all, thank you Polo. Next from Van; I would say Moondance.
There are some songs out there that are well known by the masses and considered timeless. Then there are songs that are timeless to those who truly hear and feel them. You sir are here for that, and I can see this song being timeless for you as it is for me as well. Keep opening those doors to the genres of music awaiting you. It’s a wild ride!!

You have an old soul, my friend! I love listening to great music with you!
A song about life and accepting the fact that one day it will end. One of my favorites of his.
I think it's about a sailor returning home from a long journey to reconcile with his girlfriend.
@@josbruls on the surface it appears that way. It's a song with a hidden meaning
And so on.
One day it will end, and then it will begin again.
And about the love we can give along the way..."I wanna rock your gypsy soul..."
We watch you because you are amazing at your job. And to see you enjoy music that we love is a joy to watch. Witnessing someone opening up their mind to new things is amazing!
One of his best for sure. Soaring vocals.
Bright side of the road. When you wake up knowing the world is leaning on you, this song gives you what you need to push it aside and move forward. He is so real.
This is my favorite song from him ❤️❤️❤️ I know I’ve heard it in at least a couple of movies.
He has a huge catalog. A couple more standouts for me are Brown Eyed Girl and Moondance
Same here.
What movie besides IMMEDIATE FAMILY?
@@booch326 This is us, Patch Adams
I am 57 years old from Australia I first heard this album when I was 8 still till this day one of the greatest ever written, Zac brown does a great cover with his own song free.
Thanks for your honest reaction to this. Van has s huge catalog of beautiful music. For me, I love Tupelo Honey the best. Hope you delve into his music a little more. I call it chillin' music. Love it. 👏 👏 👏
Reminds me of the time living on the Old North Shore Drive Lake Superior, hearing the old fog horns blowing on the Ore ships coming into the harbor. Great memories ❤
Thank you.
We are so lucky to have grown up then. Class of 73
You are so openminded.
It was incredible to have Van Morrison blasting in my headphones as a teenager. He just made the world a better place. I was so blessed.✌
Van the man! ❤️❤️❤️ Seeing Van sing live is #1 on the bucket list! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I dedicated this song to my Father. And, now my Brother. Into The Mystic 🖖🏼

Your reactions are great. I came here because of your TOOL reactions, but I stayed because you're really good at what you do.
