I love Cattleya lueddemanniana. A friend of mine has had one in her collection for over 50 years. The flowers on that one are HUGE and intensely coloured. Love the fragrance. She got it in the early 70s from Venezuela. I agree that the color on yours is INSANE!!! The contrast of the striation is very nice.
This is one species that comes right out of the jungle and is ready to be judged without any line breeding! Its such a cool species. And you're right, the color on this one is stupid! I really got lucky!
The color of lueddemanniana is so intense and beautiful. I wish I can smell the flower. Thank you for bulbophyllum talk, I have just picked up few species from Santa Barbra show.
Hi, Stephen 👋 I'm so glad you're back on track with your orchid updates! I love that lueddemanniana! I have the cross C. lueddemanniana var. rubra 'Inferno' x 'Canaima's Devil'. It bloomed earlier this month and was just as awesomely rubra as yours, including an intense and gorgeous lip. The fragrance was splendid as well. I don't know if mine is a Michael Sinn clone or not. It's a show-stopper, though, for sure 😍
I just can't get into Bulbos. That luedd has a really nice color and size, hopefully the shape improves as it grows. I'm having to throw out a schroederae. It had some color break last year but I thought maybe it could have been from thrips (they were terrible last spring), the color break is worse and there aren't thrips this year so out it goes. Shame because it has really good color and the plant is quite vigorous.
I think rubras with the lava lip patterns are my favourite colour form. I have "Canaima's Panita" x "Macaray"; it hasn't bloomed yet but lots of fat bulbs and wide leaves with lots of red spotting and I'm hoping for flowers by next spring. I would love to see someone cross a dark lueddemanniana rubra with dowiana (since dowiana intensifies reds/purples), or Laelia jongheana. I'd pounce on those seedlings.
Absolutely divine 🥂🥂🍾🍾🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thank you! 🙏
Very pretty lueddemanniana. Love the vibrant color. Thanks for sharing.👏🥰
That color really is crazy!! 😃😃
Such a *BEAUTIFUL* 1st bloom on your young lueddemanniana
Thank you! I’m pretty excited about this one!

Wow, that Catt is absolutely gorgeous! Her coloring is spectacular.
Is it weird that I think the flapping "hairs" on the Bulbophyllum are cute?
Ha! Those little hairs really are cool!

Ohhh, which ones did you get? I want to check out that show soon.
I got three Bulbophyllum:
1) Bulb. Jacobsonii flva
2) Bulb. rothschildianum
3) Bulb. arfalcinum (sib) from Wilson orchids.
@@falgunitrieu6955 Very cool! I'm not familiar with two of those species!
Very cool! I have 1 bulbo that hasn't bloomed yet. I'm not the greatest at them. Your lueddemanniana rubra is fantastic! Love that lip! 😊
Thank you! I’ve also had bad luck with Bulbos over the years. Hopefully the tide has changed 🤞

I'm glad more of these rubras are getting into collections!
I smelled an over 50 years old lueddemanniana last summer and I have to say it was a delight!!!
The dark color on yours is amazing.
That’s cool! Where did you see the 50 year old luedde?
@@SVKLOrchids One of the members of the local orchid society showed me her greenhouse and there it was.
@@MattbyNature Ah, every society has a few folks who have incredible collections!
@@SVKLOrchids Oh, absolutely! Insane!!!
I waited for a peloric loddigesii to improve for 4 blooms. Never opened up properly. I think this plant has a good chance to improve significantly
Ya, sometimes that happens! There’s usually someone who will take a plant like that, though.

Could it be virused?
@@SVKLOrchids I'm sure it is virused but the plant doesn't show it, just the blooms
@@michaelmccarthy4077 Ugh, I hate it when that happens!
