Awesome. This is as inspirational as it is depressing for us regular gym goers. The way the 120 and 170 kg moved was insane. To put it into context, I reckon a strong regular guy at the gym deadlifts 180kg. It’s rare to see someone lift 220 so 400 is nuts. Thanks for sharing.

I'd say it depends on the lifter and what they personally feel stronger at. Conventional is much better for myself as sumo just doesn't have that same feel to me, I prefer narrow stance, grip being just right out side of the knees, can feel much tighter and more explosive.

I recently listen to a podcast with a top strong man athlete discussing deadlifts. Sorry I can’t remember his name. It was a Joe Rogan podcast. Anyway, he made the statement that anyone who is deadlifting and isn’t a paid strength athlete is basically an idiot. Admittedly a paraphrase but that was the main idea. Also not hating at all that is a world class lift. Another question I would ask. Isn’t specialized lifting kind of a waste of time? I have been to many meets where guys bench only. Usually huge bench numbers. Nobody really cares. A meet is three lifts. It’s about a total. That is the essence of the sport. Just my two sense. Not sure if you specialize or not but it also applies if you’re other two lifts stink.

Craig Ward in terms of bodyweight and weight ratio, if Cailer (who’s around 225) was the same weight as Eddie (around 400) he’d be able to pull at least 3 times how bodyweight which is 1200lbs.
Again Eddie did 500kg with straps and a deadlift suit, Cailer does it raw.
