No it's also to speed boarding times, so that by the time they reach the gate they can open the door and let the pax/cargo/baggage out faster, and be ready to depart in much less time, takes 5 mins off the waiting time. So it's more based on economy than fuel savings, so yeah :)
wow, get on the CASA and ATSB websites, a few Virgin ATR flights under investigation.. the Moranbah incident, now an ATR grounded by ATSB in albury, reading elsewhere that CASA are showing concerns regarding pilot training and maintenance.. wont be getting on a VA flight anytime soon! mind you, all airlines are cost cutting, thanks to these ''budget'' carriers coming in from overseas.
