  • Cardiovascular technology is not your typical health care career. You work collaboratively with cardiologists. You'll watch patients visibly improve before your eyes, And the equipment is every techie's dream. What's more, Valencia's A.S. degree in Cardiovascular Technology has a job placement rate of 100 percent with starting salaries of $37,000-$50,000 a year.
    An A.S. degree in Cardiovascular Technology provides a pathway to a bachelor's degree in Cardiopulmonary Science for advanced studies in echocardiography.

      This is a college. If you want to apply for a CVT job in the states you would have to apply for a degree program that would sponsor you for your F1 visa as an international student. Then you would have to find an employer that will sponsor you for a work permit which may / may not happen because it takes forever for the work permit to come in the states and its a hassle for employers.

    Is it the same thing as Cardiology Technologist or not?

    • @valenciacollege
      @valenciacollege  3 роки тому

      A cardiovascular technician is someone who performs non-invasive diagnostic tests such as EKGs, holter monitors, stress testing and such. this job does not require a college degree and the skills can be learned on the job. The pay scale is much lower than that of a cardiovascular technologist. A cardiovascular technologist requires a college degree of a minimum of an Associates degree in a healthcare field or specifically a CVT program. The entry level pay is substantially higher than that of a technician. The job duties of a technologist vary greatly and include invasive cardiology procedures to diagnosis heart diseases or complex interventional procedures such as balloon angioplasties, stents, pacemaker/defibrillator implants and emergent procedures for people having heart attacks.

    • @dinobee3619

      I know this reply is 3 years late... But for anyone wondering, CVT=stress tests, resting EKGs, Holter (you're basically looking at heart rhythms for all of them ) and Cath Lab if you're invasive.
      Echocardiography= Ultrasound for the heart

      An echocardiograph technician is usually referring to an Echosonographer which is a college degree field that specializes in non-invasive diagnostic testing using ultrasound to diagnosis cardiac issues. Cardiovascular Technologists is a college degree field that performs invasive cardiology procedures to diagnosis heart diseases or complex interventional procedures such as balloon angioplasties, stents, pacemaker/defibrillator implants and emergent procedures for people having heart attacks. Both echosonographers and CVT's have board exams.

    • @valenciacollege
      @valenciacollege  4 роки тому

      Hi Shafla, I asked our professors and they are not aware of a dcvt. At least this abbreviation is not an approved credential. Invasive CVTs are eligible to sit for the invasive registry which is the RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist) credential. A CVT can work in a diagnostic only cardiac setting but there is not a standard, approved credential for that. However, a non invasive CVT program graduate can sit for the board to be a cardiac sonographer which can have a credential of ACS (advanced cardiac sonographer) or RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer).

    • @valenciacollege
      @valenciacollege  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Cari, a cardiac nurse is a RN that works in a cardiac-related area. They could work in a pre/post cardiac procedure unit taking care of patients before or after invasive cardiac procedures. They could work in a non-invasive area where diagnostic procedures are performed such as stress tests, ekgs, cardioversions, and echocardiograms are performed. They may also work on a cardiac floor as a RN taking care of patients who have a cardiac related diagnosis such as CHF, pulmonary hypertension, irregular heartbeats and others.
      A CVT (Cardiovascular Technologist) is a person that is trained to perform specific cardiac procedures. They can be invasive or non invasive CVTs. Invasive CVTs work in the cardiac Cath or electrophysiology labs performing procedures such as placing stents, heart valves, pacemakers, and implantable defibrillators. Non invasive CVTs are trained to do non invasive diagnostic testing such as echocardiograms.
