- In this guitar lesson tutorial we look at how to play the lead guitar part of the instrumental 'Riders In The Sky' as performed by The Shadows.
The song was written back in 1948 by Stan Jones. It has been covered by many artists including Elvis Presley, Jonny Cash and the Ventures. It was released by the Shadows in 1980.

Lesson by Paul Campion
Hi Paul, I want to commend you on your excellent tutorials. You are a natural teacher and one of the best on UA-cam.. My only small comment is that for me at least it would be very helpful if you played a 5-10 second snippet of the actual song, before getting into the nitty gritty details of the lesson. I find this helps me tremendously in understanding the instruction. Request for a lesson on Riders On The Storm by the Doors. Cheers.
Sorry that it's taken so long to respond. Thanks for the kind comment and I'll take your suggestions on board. I'll see if I can get round to doing Riders for you.
Your explaining technique is marvelous. I have personally followed you and got wonderful sound. Can you please help me to understand how to play MEXICO BY VENTURES on guitar. Regards
Thanks Paul, this is the fisrt song in three years of self learning i've managed to get to grips with, tried all sorts but i suppose starting at 56 everything i tried wasn't for me now i've found playing something i'm used to as i like Rock 'n' Rool 50's and 60's style music and relating to it helps thanks

Hi Paul, your videos are so detailed it makes learning these shads songs a lot easier. Would you consider doing a tutorial on the song "The Savage"? Keep up the good work, the videos are great.
Can you do a video lesson on the ventures needles and pins.
My 9yrs old son loves your tutorials......but wasn't The Shadows version in Bb and (apologies and correct me if I'm wrong) your version is in Am?
Hi Patrick, thanks for commenting. I've just had a listen to the original to remind me and your right it's definitely Bbm. I used to play this with a guy who struggled with barre chords so I must have transposed it and then forgotten about it. Everything should be correct but shifted up by one fret.
Thanks for your reply.....Keep up the good work👍🏻👍🏻🤘🤘🤘
MUCH easier to play in Am....drop tune your spare guitar mate!
Hi Paul, Thanks for the lesson. I'm going to give it a go. Brian
+Brian Cassell Hi Brian, sorry for not responding sooner. Glad you enjoyed the lesson and thanks for commenting.
