- The only things we can be certain about are the things that have already happened to us in the past, and we live in a perpetual state of uncertainty about the future. If we’re honest, we can all probably agree that it’s not really comfortable to be constantly wondering what your life will look like in a month, in six months, in a year. We are always worrying about the future-especially when we sense that some form of suffering looms ahead.
Father Mike walks us through the Five Joyful Mysteries: the Annunciation, the Visitation, the Nativity, the Presentation of Jesus in the Temple, and the Finding of Jesus in the Temple. He reflects on the fact that each of these joyful mysteries is marked with a profound uncertainty and suffering. And yet, joy is present.
Think about what what Mary must have felt like when the Angel appeared to her and told her that the Holy Spirit would come upon her-that she was going to be the mother of the Messiah. The Angel didn’t reveal details to her. He didn’t assure her that Joseph wouldn’t divorce her, or that they would have to travel to Bethlehem but that they would make it in time for her to deliver. Yet, amidst the uncertainty of the moment, Mary gave a joyful Fiat.
Joy can be present, because Christ is present. You are able to have a Merry Christmas today...not because there is no suffering, and no uncertainty, but because God is with us. Even in our darkness, we have seen a great light.

I don't know why but I thanked God today while I washed my face. This year was filled with regret and self pity for me. I increased my sins instead of praying more and trusting in God more. I thought I had it figured out but destiny came back biting harder and I lost. Even through all that mess I'm still following Christ and today has been an eye opener that God has blessed me with the fruit of my works and I'm going to enjoy my day and not worry about my stupid ugly thoughts. I'm gonna drink a cold beer and enjoy a nice tasty meal and buy myself some cookies. I even plan on going to confession and beginning again to a better life. I will love my God and I will worship God more than ever. Merry Christmas to anyone who is feeling like they lost the battle. Remember God is faithful if you confess and he hasn't abandoned us.

It's funny. I was so preoccupied by uncertainty earlier today. I've been Google-ing and reading articles and other sites concerning a multitude of my worries. Housing, income, relationships, etc. Then, this video comes along. I'm still anxious about the future and it's definitely uncertain, but those worries are a bit muted now. Thank you for this video. This is literally the saddest day of the year for me for the last six years of my life. I appreciate the encouragement because I have no one to share it with and to celebrate with. And this year is one of the most uncertain years of my life approaching. In fact last night at 1 in the morning after Mass I asked the priest about rcia classes for the first time in my. Not sure where this going to lead but I know that things in my life have to change and I know that that scares me because the future is uncertain. And I have no one in my life I can walk with through this. Again thank you for this video unless very lonely day of where I have a family who does not want anything to do it has disowned me and I can't go home. No one came to visit. I took some flowers to my next door neighbor, but noticed that they are gone for the week. I cannot go home, either, since there is no one there anymore. Please, please join with me to place your heart at the foot of the cross, and offer to Jesus. That very act takes the grief off your shoulders. Give it a try, please, and let me know how it works. You have no idea how much I needed this video! My pillow was soaked in tears from crying so much the other night over the worry and fear I've been consumed with about the future. My husband was hit by a drunk driver back in October and thank God he's alive but he's been out of work and has neck, and back pain. Plus my 23 yr old son suffers from a rare, painful vascular malformation in his left leg. I'm worried about his future, I don't know if he'll be able to work, have a family and have a normal full life. I don't understand why he was born with this. It's been so hard seeing any joy or hope. God led me to this video. Thank you for this gift. God bless you Fr Mike!

When I read this, I read after to think about a dark moment in my life, then to think of any glimpses of light in the midst of that. It helped me see that God works ALL THINGS for our good by his passion on the cross.
God can not be outdone by evil, God is my strength. We are Easter people! Hope . The devil does not take a break on Christmas Day. He tried to rob us if the glory of God. But no matter what happens I choose to trust in God .

The future is filled with uncertainty... but not completely; one this is certain, no matter what the future holds, God will be there.
It helps me feel at ease to think God = Love. God is ultimately in control and so Love is ultimately in control. Merry Christmas everyone!

I was thinking at midnight mass during the reading about Mary placing Jesus in the manger, and what she felt about Joseph and the stable she was in and it dawned on me.. that structure over her head and the decrepit cradle for her child probably didn't bother her so much, because that place was not her shelter, ..Joseph was.

Joseph, being obedient to God, would have followed the angel's words. God wouldn't protect the mother of His only begotten Son? She knew God and was a willing participant in this amazing story of God's love for us. She had to bear many sorrows in her heart, but she was willing, knowing that the promises of God are true. With me leaving a very stable job to pursue my dreams, my wife giving birth to our first child, and moving to a new location to start new, all events happening within a few months of each other, this is definitely the message I needed to hear. That's one of my favorite christmas albums, too! I love Barbra Streisand! She's one of my mom's favorites, and that's something that she has shared with me.
I know everybody comments on Ascension Presents' videos saying "I needed this today." But I rejoice in the fact that when I opened up my inbox this popped up. The moment I saw the thumbail I was denying the joy of Christmas because I was uncertain of my future and vocations. So thank God for speaking to us through our priests.
I will never pray the joyful mysteries the same. After listening to this, I'll keep in mind how in the midst of uncertainty God is still there with us as He was with our blessed Mother.
This Christmas was so difficult for my family. Few days before Christmas my sister was diagnosed with cancer. She's a mother of two little children. Please pray for us...we need prayer. It's so difficult not to worry.

3 youtubers have had a strong effect on me this 2019. One of them is you, sir. I enjoy your videos, and I spend a good deal of time thinking about what you discuss about. So, thanks for them. I just got interested in Christianity, Bible and religion this year, I find it very intetesting. Just reading the Bible on my own, a few pages everyday, started on summer with an app, and bought my first paper one yesterday (an interconfessional one, fruit of a common ground agreed between catholics and protestants, it seemed a good first approach for a first timer like I). I enjoy it along watching videos like yours. I wanna say thanks.

Such a beautiful message. Thank you. This holy season of God's birth, I reflect on the glorious blessings I received in the past when God gave me my husband, Gene, and his unconditional love. Now, Gene has died, and I am left here in a void. I pray for his soul and face an uncertain future. Yes, I have lost much, but now, I realize the certainty of God's love and I feel his presence more acutely. Mary's obedience is an example for me of how to live the rest of my life doing God's will. I have no need for certainty about future events here on earth when I have the promise of eternal salvation purchased by the blood of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

I think you summed it up very well Father. When I meditate on the Joyful Mysteries I often think the err y are everything but joyful. Those two women had no idea what was in store for their baby boys. So sad.

Thankyou. I really needed this at the beginning of the year. 2019 was filled with more tears than I thought I would ever see. It looks like 2020 will be equally filled with difficulty, but if I can start to believe that Christ is with me, it will help.

yes. joy. I've noticed that protestants are joyful. Catholics suffer and offer it up.. protestants suffer and while they are suffering, they PRAISE & WORSHIP the Lord..literally.. I gained my faith back thru my protestant friends and their services especially watching Brother Yun and reading his book HEANVENLY MAN BROTHER YUN. Protestants worship shouting psalm 91 or any bible // word of God. Yes, Jesus speaks thru uncertainty, imperfect people like us. Allelluia

You're right, I and many other people are facing and suffering from uncertainty but today, like everday, is Christmas. Everyday is another day in which we can acknowledge the presence of God on this earth, through the Holy spirit. each day is a blessing because God allowed his son to sacrifice himself for us. I hope God forgives us for embracing uncertainty and our lack of faith in him. He has a plan and has given us this plan for our lives through the bible. Until I master the teachings of the bible I have no right to be uncertain. Until I have done all the things our heavenly father has asked, I should not say I am lost.

I have been through a physical "attack (fever and deprive of sleep two days due to cramps at night)"
This was from Friday 20 to Sunday 22. I missed Sunday´s Holy Mass.
Today I felt a lot better, but as soon as I took the car, I went completely overwhelmed by weakness and shakes. The Holy MASS was just before Consecration. I stayed. I Had Communion and went to another church despite the "shaking & trembling" and I heard the complete Holy Mass and had Communion again.
I Came back home and "Fight Back" trying to calm myself by praying "The Liturgy Of The Hours" and some distractions in between but Sunken in the uncertainty of what was going to happen to me Now that I Feel So High Spiritually but physically "Cracking Up Heavily".
So OUR LORD JESUS put HIS Answer on You. PRAISE To JESUS.

Coping with uncertainty is one of my greatest struggles, especially during this pandemic. Yes, I remind myself that God is always with me and He knows the future! ....Therefore, I place my full trust in Him, knowing He always has my best interest at hand.
