i am a fan of your videos .i like the casual way you operate the controls of the excavator . This video in particular seems as though you are developing the property . Stay on top of the repairs and maintain the equipment and i hope you have many years without too many expenses . i am Roger from east coast of canada .
That's truly amazing what you guys have done in a relatively short amount of time! So that wood you uncovered burned so quickly because you created charcoal.
Folks -How about this hero. Don Ray Smith, 81 years old, of Pollock Pines Ca., a private bulldozer operator was killed Thursday 7/26 while trying to contain flames while fighting the Carr fire near Redding California. Thank You Sir, God Bless and RIP. ..A True Badass
Excellent choice of beverage you got there! I'm sippin' on one of those as I enjoy the video!! You may be tired of clearing, but damn if you don't make it look like a work of art in the end. Very nice!!
Thank you very much mulching only replenishes the seeds and at least doubles the growth. Stumps and roots must all go. Mulching or grinding is just good repeat work and much harder the second go around. Hard to convince some people of this.
Chris ": ever had the fire department show up at a job site about all the black smoke ???? and does it hurt the bucket/thumb to keep putting them into the fire ??? I was wondering if the grease in the joints would catch on fire ???
Hey Chris, you may have answered this before, but does all that heat have any affect on the hydraulic lines on the dipper arm. Shortened life or melting the outer rubber layer?
Do you use special heat-resistant hydraulic lines and cylinders when burning wood and brush? Also, do you find you have to lubricate your stick cylinder more often due to the heat? It must cause some damage to your bucket, as well. I'm going to repeat my comment on your latest video.
That's hardened steel, and the thumb and bucket are not in the fire or hot coals long enough to do much damage, as soon as he swings out it cools fast. Plus looks to me like he knows what he's doing. Your one damn good operator letsdig18.
damn that ground is soft, no big stones or anything. wish it was that easy to dig here. all we have is rock. with patches of dirt between. and in an area like that there would be big tree roots everywhere.
Buy a silage blower and pipe at a farm auction and run it with a gas or diesel engine to put air in the bottom of your burn hole. Faster burn and less ash. It doesn't have to turn very fast. You can also add a little diesel fuel through the blower to start or accelerate the fire.
Chips suck because of the massive overgrowth they get but they are nice if you have a market for them. I have a deal with a local tree company and they use my land to dump the chips and give me some money for them. Then I either turn around fresh chips around and sell them while they’re clean or I’ll stockpile some and let them decomp a little bit and make really nice topsoil and sell that
My father in law was clearing and burning for a housing development , unknown hydraulic leak , burned up a almost new machine , even being in town fire dept. wasn't close enough to put it out .
Nice job well done the client will be happy with that building platform. Will we see steam coming out of the ground from under ground fire still burning?
i needed a job like this done.. after getting a couple price quotes I decided it was cheaper to just buy a new kubota with a bh and tackle it myself. half done so far.
If the window is to hot, hidro fluid is all ready hot and flamibale, those cylinders near the thumb are like granade could blow ,saw that on youtub.be careful dude.
Is this like potential housing or business area. I see logging trucks go by my place. Matter fact there is a Volvo just like yours parked right next door to me now.
What do you do when the burn pit subsides after a few years? Or does ash not breakdown and let the ground end up with a big sinkhole. It doesn't seem like you could get any compaction with so much ash underneath. Or am I just overthinking it?
with 5 acres to clear I would make an enormous pile of charcoal, you already got the trees, the dirt and the machines to make it...and the burn permit..
R - so you just put new filters in everyday? If you blow them from the inside out with low air pressure your fine. You still don’t get the full life out of them as you would if it wasn’t so dusty. And you can’t leave them clogged it messes with the air/fuel ratio
Given that I'm not just a crane operator, but also a heavy equipment master mechanic with 22 years experience, I will add a few cents. Carefully, and I stress CAREFULLY using compressed air will not damage the filter. Distance and control has to be maintained though. Too many times, people just cram the tip of the blow gun against the filter media and get after it. Actually the best way is a small leaf blower. Starting a little ways away from the center hole (cylindrical air filter) and gradually getting closer until the dirt starts falling out of the exterior pleats. Volumes of air are what you are after. Not localized pressure. Next people will tell us not to wash our machines, because of the risk of high pressure water. I have seen many a radiator, intercooler, hydraulic cooler, and A/C condenser wrecked from an idiot with a pressure washer. It's not the method being implemented. It's the way in which it is implemented.
7900 hours on my loader that’s been in gravel pits all it’s life. Blown out filter the entire time and replaced the filters only if there was damage to a pleat over time
It is called the stack effect. The idea is that a good fire draws air in at its base from all directions. By standing or working near the fire, in this current of air, you partly block it from the direction where you are standing. So air is drawn from all directions, just not so strongly from where you are standing. This creates a net push of air towards you but from the opposite side of the fire. Result: the smoke and fire seems to seek you out. You can shift your position, but the smoke just follows you. The same effect is evident near any structure (or "stack"), hence the name of the effect. Hops this helps explain what is going on.
Hey Chris, be careful with leaving fires lit when you leave the area, you don't want to have another Centralia on your hands. (The town of Centralia, PA. burning since 1962)
To The Top Crane he did the math in the video jimmy. Everybody knows that huge fires start at 200 semi truck loads plus. This is in the realm of medium to sorta biggish. Honestly I'd expect someone who deals with large shit as a profession to know these things. Does your German load chart not cover the basic sizes? Small medium large and supersize?
JasonWorksAlot, I pick up heavy stuff. I'm no expert when it comes to the tonnage of cellulose based materials and correlation to fire size. That is not covered in the load charts in the crane. Lol
Seems a shame to throw good money away by not processing the scrap limbs and stumps and brush into valuable chips and shred them into a good quality product that nurseries and garden centers love and will pay top dollar for, Just rent a chipper/shredder so you do not have a large upfront investment and get your friends like Zack to haul loads to the nurseries for a few bucks and keep everyone busy making some money.imho.
You're definitely the best at what you do Chris I enjoyed sitting here watching you operate that all the time
It all looks super nice! Great job, Chris! You're the man!
Nice Backdrop for two (2) Homes in the Woods. 👍

You guys do nice work, very impressive.

¹¹¹¹yes

Good Job Chris, wish I had your help on the thousands of Stumps I have to burn some six foot diameter.
That looks one mean Fire Breathin' Dragon for sure!!!
Thank you very much mulching only replenishes the seeds and at least doubles the growth. Stumps and roots must all go. Mulching or grinding is just good repeat work and much harder the second go around. Hard to convince some people of this.
Wow...that is a gorgeous lot! Fantastic.

Hey Chris, you may have answered this before, but does all that heat have any affect on the hydraulic lines on the dipper arm. Shortened life or melting the outer rubber layer?
An Amazing transformation....and I did not know that 4 acres looked so big...👍🙂
Chris you wasn't worry about melting your o rings on the Volvo teeth great videos
Boy do I love that little dozer !!!
Great job Chris I have the same 4 acres half is cleared already, but 1.5 acres is a mess.

On digging faster you could get Cotontop 3 to truck that Volvo 700 up there and dig maybe a little faster. 😂. Great video as always.
Great video Chris thanks for sharing have a great day
Reminds me of when I used to work at the landfill.
Sometimes it would catch fire and the only way to put it out was to cover it with fill.
Any concern for burning through hydraulic lines near bucket?
Can you provide an update to the Volvo teaser??
4 Acre clearing job is done, wow big project Chris 😲💥😲💥
Job wel done Chris and hop to other one . love it .

Have you ever had a machine burn or melt? Hoses, paint, etc.?
That ash would make good top soil

Looks great, smoky finish to the job though.
You got it looking real nice! Carry on to the next one!
How do you keep hydronic hoses on that bocket, bucket, all that heat from the fire?
Looks great! Thanks for the video.
Well Chris you just know the future to good 😆 good video 👍
Ever think about get a tub or horizontal grinder on track and grind the trees and debris into chip . An sale the chip for fuel or mulch .
Looks like it digs really good 👍
If the window is to hot, hidro fluid is all ready hot and flamibale, those cylinders near the thumb are like granade could blow ,saw that on youtub.be careful dude.
Wow lot of burning great vid awesome
Don't you worry about melting lines?
Is this like potential housing or business area. I see logging trucks go by my place. Matter fact there is a Volvo just like yours parked right next door to me now.
Good job, lot looks great 👍
Will your burn pits and barrow pits ever turn into sink holes ?
Loves fires (good) despises ashes (bad) ... lol
Did you sell any logs of this job or burn them all?
Well done!
Any news on when we will be getting to see the new machine? The wait is killing us.
What do you do when the burn pit subsides after a few years? Or does ash not breakdown and let the ground end up with a big sinkhole. It doesn't seem like you could get any compaction with so much ash underneath. Or am I just overthinking it?
Ash compacts as well as if not better than clay.
Looks really good
I'm looking to buy land to build a home on and im trying to get some idea of cost to clear land similar to the land in this video.
When you guys bid something like this do you bid the dirt work also or just the clearing?
Nice clean project! ....13
with 5 acres to clear I would make an enormous pile of charcoal, you already got the trees, the dirt and the machines to make it...and the burn permit..
chris you shoud have a racker bucket for your machine
Can’t throw a little water on those ashes? Then move it all to keep the dust down?
Do you have to get burn permits every time you burn big piles of brush like that?
I guess after moving ashes you just replace the air filters instead of blowing them out! That stuff is a mess. Lot looks great all cleared out!
R - so you just put new filters in everyday? If you blow them from the inside out with low air pressure your fine. You still don’t get the full life out of them as you would if it wasn’t so dusty. And you can’t leave them clogged it messes with the air/fuel ratio
R - sounds good man! Not trying to get you all fired up. Got 6400 hours on my loader and still rolling strong.
Given that I'm not just a crane operator, but also a heavy equipment master mechanic with 22 years experience, I will add a few cents. To The Top Crane very well put!! Thanks for setting things straight
7900 hours on my loader that’s been in gravel pits all it’s life. Blown out filter the entire time and replaced the filters only if there was damage to a pleat over time
Yes sir, until now 23:40, it has been North Carolina Woods for centuries, maybe even the Indians haven’t even walked through here...!!
Great video 👍
What will happen to the hill of dirt from which you were filming?
Looks good bro
It's too bad your drone wouldn't work. It would have been neat to see a before and after aerial view
That last pit wow when you showed us I saw two men cooking moo goo gai pan! How long did it take you to wash and clean ole girl?
Nobody tell Chris about the market for bio Coal or Bio Char, the ash dust is mostly Calcium so it is good for the ground.
It seems whenever there is a fire the smoke always follows you.

what about the hydraulic rubber hoses on the arm of the excavator
Nice video sir !
Yeah the glare was real bad on this video
Do you use Air or Water to clean it off ?
does anyone know what make of sunglasses he wears, they look pretty cool and comfy
How much would a job like this cost?
All that organic material buried equals a big sinkhole eventually.
What ! No Pond?
Hey Chris, be careful with leaving fires lit when you leave the area, you don't want to have another Centralia on your hands. (The town of Centralia, PA. burning since 1962)
John M. Evangelis yeah but thats a coal mine burning
SEEMS LIKE THAT ASH WOULD BE GOOD FOR GARDENS, BEIN ALL WOOD ASH
"I despise ashes", continues to burn onsite....
I hope you build a nice Hot Fire on the next project........lol
That is huge
Why dident you shread it a sell it for mulch😉
Does your uncle operate equipment?
20 minute letsdig18 videos alot better then 5 minute letsdig18 videos XD
Awesome
nice video
Imagine that! A Letsdig video with a HUGE fire in it. Chris, you may have a touch of pyromaniac in ya. Lol. How'd the tint go today?
To The Top Crane he is only clearing Four Acres, not a big burn at all.
To The Top Crane he did the math in the video jimmy. Everybody knows that huge fires start at 200 semi truck loads plus. This is in the realm of medium to sorta biggish. JasonWorksAlot
It, a hot dog roast, you don't have a fire tornado your not doing it right.
Carroll Sanders next you're going to tell me I can't get the ice off my windshield with my flamethrower anymore aren't you???
JasonWorksAlot, I pick up heavy stuff. I'm no expert when it comes to the tonnage of cellulose based materials and correlation to fire size. That is not covered in the load charts in the crane. Lol
Fire!!!
Is hell running low on fire?
If you guys like this channel you will probably like Andrew Camarata then. Smaller scale but good channel
B White or the Elite Earthworks channel 😉 lol!
B White YOU 👈🏼 & THAT GOOFY ANDREW
COULDN'T HOLD (Letsdig18) DIRTY
SOCK'S ! ......
Already subscribed to Andrew.
Elite Earthworks LLC, you do have a great channel!
BLITZBURGH BILLY that’s true those are some big socks to fill! Lol
doozer sounds ruff at the end
Need the tint a little bit darker
With darkening of the side you have 3 images on the video, very bad quality.
To much mirror effect with tinting, can't see work as good.
ever thought about operating on the pipeline id love to see you dig pipeline dich
The tint on the windows is probably good for you, but not for the quality of the videos. Too much reflections a double pictures.
What happened to the haul truck?
They probably moved it to another job
As in the mechanic was supposed to drop by and fix the injector deal...
In other words can we have an update on the misfire issue?
Thanks for putting the camera in front of yourself. When it is behind you there is no side view. Like to see all I can.
